Gleaner baby!!! One of the many many reasons why I'll always own gleaners!!! Light on their feet and soo easy to maintain and work on!!! And was born. And raised on them. We've always owned gleaners

Here in Wisconsin in the 80's the falls were terribly wet, the only machines that could run were the Gleaners. One guy by Oconto Falls had a M2 with the 426 engine, he ran 30.5-32 drives with 18.4-38 Duals and 4wd the machine was unstoppable, the ruts were unbelievable but the mighty Gleaner just kept going! Allis Chalmers 👍

The Gleaner L2, L3, M2, M3 are my favorite machines. We had a 1979 M2, nice machine. They were really nice machines to operate, way ahead of there time, compared to other brands out there. I wish Allis Chalmers would have made it through 1985. Nice to see that your still running the old Gleaners. Thanks again for the videos.

Agree! My grandpa ran a 1979 M2. Super easy to work on, and yes ahead of their time when it came to inside the cab. Changing cylinder bars was a breeze.

Any thoughts on the K2?
@douglasmayherjr.5733
@douglasmayherjr.5733 2 года назад
@@SchnelleKat they are more in the F2 family. It’s hard to go wrong with one. They are pretty simple machines. They would have AC diesel power or GM gas power, both reliable. I would recommend a hydro drive. Great for small farms.

I agree that they were way ahead. I tell people that they should go sit in a 7700 or 915 or 8600 White and then sit in an M2 or L2. There just is no comparison and I can't see how the other companies were ever able to sell one of theirs off their lot when a Gleaner was available near by.

See, that's why I love your channel. You've got the balls to try it and the old L2 has the balls to get her done! $1500 machine putting the $100k + machines to shame. Thanks for the video brother. Keep on keeping on! Glad the corn is good enough you are having to worry about overloading the clean grain auger. Can't wait till you get em both a going. One with tracks!

I’ve seen the R’s with Mud Hog axels on the rear Hydraulic Drive, you can’t get them stuck. You just need a good used Mud Hog rear axel. There’s a used one for a M on Tractor-house. Hard to be the light weight of a cleaner & more balanced center of gravity. Nice video.

People don’t realize that gleaner combines are quite a bit lighter than other combines. I have a n7 that has 30.5/ 32 inside and 24.5 /32 duels and no 4wd and we had a very wet year a couple of years ago I I could drive anywhere, even through a foot of water. The combine didn’t dig very deep either.

You could tweak these Gleaners and get some real capacity out of them and it doesn't take all that "technology" that is in the new stuff. Great video. Amen on the compaction.

I believe in tow rope, have used them for many many years. I remember used with a 1974 half ton 4 wheel drive an a 1300 pound weight in the bed pulling out semis. Yes probably over kill on the weight but it was a beast.

Got my buddies l2 with duals at my farm right now it didn’t give me much problem in standing water except the rear sliding everywhere but where I was trying to steer. My l2 had the hydro quit out of nowhere so it’s in timeout. I’m glad I’m not the only one having to dump and smack on the clean grain elevator this year due to plugging. I just run the lowest speed possible to keep it from plugging.

Hey Brandon! The old Allis tracks would look pretty sweet. Wonder what the weight and the gearing difference would be. Isn’t the gearing like four times slower on tracks? Anyway, if you can’t find any tracks another option would be a “Mud Hawg” kit. Might be a lot cheaper and lighter without sacrificing that Gleaner road speed. We had a set on an old IH 1460 combine. The steering is great without sacrificing your brakes. It would most definitely make those lightweight old L2s unstoppable!

that was the idea behind the visual return you pushed the ground speed til you seen crop in return then backed down ground speed till return was empty and GLEANERS are well balanced combines and will do great in mud!! but you can get mud in your drive belt and make a mess!! l will be watchin!!!

You need to hear the story of the silver seeder. This happened over 35 yrs ago. My custom harvester neighbor got home from wheat harvest. They told me a guy decided he wanted to be a custom harvester. He bought a gleaner combine talked to a farmer. This you can help me harvest. He made a round around the field. The farmer looked in the grain tank. He asked the custom harvester this. Did you adjust this combine? His answer was I have to adjust it!

@SilverGleaner
@SilverGleaner 2 года назад
Personally I'd rather grow weeds than to sign up my land in any government controlled program. BTDT! Just tile it out someday and turn it into productive land. Right now the biggest competitor against my ability to rent more land is the government in one way or another. DNR purchasing prime farm land, CRP taking farm land out of production for many years at a time, and government bailouts to large farms ...... all which keeps land rent and land prices high.....there are more ways government restricts my ability to farm.
