One of the most beautiful songs back in the day. I always wondered what happened to P.M Dawn but, now I know. R. I. P To the other brothers my blessings to you and his wife and children.
It’s a song I can listen to still today and gives me a feeling that songs today don’t do. His voice is amazing and the words are true. I love the song I die without you.
Yeah most of it today is straight up garbage 3 grade level lyrics that make absolute no sense at all auto tune crap they sound like they just woke up from a 24 hour weed binge 😂
They ultimately mainly had singles that were pop hits. That was great for the time and they were excellent in the beginning, but they couldn’t keep making music that was commercially relevant over time.
It's even worse that his cousin has deceived himself into thinking that HE is PM Dawn smh. He's straight selfish to try to absorb what they've laid the foundation to do. Sounds like he was jealous from the rip, if you ask me. Just his statement on how people invite him to their houses had me trippin'. I'm like, "Dude, they wouldn't even KNOW of you, if it weren't for the REAL PM Dawn and he won't even rectify the business side of it for his family. How can I NOT think that he was jealous and envious of his cousins smh????
@@May5871 And those people inviting him into their homes (which I don't believe because who does that to an artist they see on stage? This ain't a small-town talent show type situation) probably don't know how he swindled the REAL creators out of their name, fame, and fortune. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't taken the time to watch this.
@@May5871 Yep. That rat bastard is their paternal first cousin, Gregory Lewis Carr II, known by his stage name Doc. G (also known as Dr. Giggles). So many musical acts back then were not business-savvy, and didn't think about the legal side of show business. Knowing what we know now, there's no excuse not to own yourself as a brand.
@@May5871 Exactly!! I just saw this on unsung tonight and he really thought it was a flex to brag about people accepting him AS IF he was them. I really wish the trademark could be reversed as invalid. I was disgusted by him🤮. I think a petition for a cancellation of the travel should be filed
If there was no PM Dawn, there'd be no Kid Cudi or other experimental hip hop artists. It's bands like PM Dawn that have solidified themselves in music history. Their music is beautiful and complex. No artists today can match them.
I was 14 yrs old in 1992 when Boomerang came out and it was the first time hearing Die without you. It's one of my favorite songs and I still listen to it.
For him to trade mark that name was a cowardly move. For him to sit there and talk as if he really was the group is BS. He was a clown for saying that.
Such a sad ending. I’m just wondering what type of person would come in and trademark someone else’s group having done nothing to earn the right? That’s the weirdest thing. I hope their family is eventually able to get those royalties and trademark the name properly.
@@latoyajohnson8695I've seen so many episodes where family members fought over copyrights or just straight up took it from another family members including their own brothers sisters or cousins.
It’s crazy that with all of their success, they never actually trademark their group name it’s unfortunate💕They were so diverse so ahead of their time just incredible and now they can’t even use their own name 😢 a tragic end to such a positive group. It’s nice to see the family still give light and keep Prince Be name lifted.
When I earn Oscar(s)®, Grammy (s)®, yadda-yadda-yadda P.M. Dawn will be acknowledged -- I promise! RU-vid videos: Ramon Drums (Burton Hurley Drum Kit) & Ramon Piano in the Shadows
I agree. The many that exist today that were influenced are mostly very watered down and autotuned, and without much soul. The guy who owns the name put something out years ago, and it sounds just like today's crap. Not good at all.
This group was a lifetime ahead of music is crazy to think that they made these songs 30 years ago I was still a child but very much fascinated by what I was listening to as if it was the first time I'd ever heard that sound. Ironically enough it was
I'm sure their mother feels responsible for the death of Duncan and that's why she doesn't want to talk about it, and I can understand why. "Be careful who you have around your kids" is advice that will never expire, but you can tell she loves her sons and is so proud of them! PM Dawn was revolutionary and ahead of their time 🧡✊🏿!
That may have ultimately hurt them. As much as they continued to make great music after the first album, each subsequent album slowly had less and less impressive music on them. The music market is very fickle and didn’t see them as relevant anymore over time.
PM Dawn is one of my favorite groups of all time. I bump them in 2022 as if I were alive 30 years ago. Thank you for this upload! It's refreshing to see that they had an UnSung episode!
From start to finish ... Plastic has always been one of my favorites as well as their cover of Norwegian Wood. A mental fighter not a physical fighter, a warrior of the mind... Chills ✨
Still love PM Dawn till this day. Music at this time had meaning and some of the best sounds and lyrics. Rest in Peace Prince Be. You are greatly missed but I know your children and Eternal will keep the sound and love going.
P.M. Dawn is one of my absolute favorite artists of all time. I own all the albums on CD, all the albums (that were released on vinyl) on vinyl, the CD singles, imports, white label DJ versions of the 12" vinyl singles, you name it. I was fully sold on them when they released the first album during my high school years and went on to buy each subsequent album THE DAY it came out. Their music changed my life for the better and accompanied me through some of the most wonderful, and the most difficult, times of my life. Meanwhile, the absolute garbage re-recorded versions of their songs that Doc G/Dr. Giggles/Greg Carr has gone on to release under the stolen name are awful and nothing short of a crime. Yet when people look for P.M. Dawn in a lot of places online, THOSE are the versions they find. Ridiculous. Eternal, thank you for the music! Prince Be, rest in peace, rest in power. And to the wife/kids of Be, your husband/dad is an absolute legend. Peace to you and your family. Much love.
I wasn't aware of P.M. Dawn until 1992, when I had gotten out of the Marine Corps and went back home to Pennsylvania. I went to a local nightclub soon after and first heard "Set adrift on memory bliss" there. I also met the girl who became my first love, that same night in that club. To this day that song is inextricably linked to two things: 1. Going home after being in combat. 2. My first love, Maria. Thanks, Eternal...for providing the soundtrack to two of the most impactful times of my life.
@@11eternal this brought tender tears to my eyes. This song will forever remind me of being 14 and having my first, oh so nervous, innocent kiss. This music is timeless. It was timeless then, and it will forever be. 💕🦄
The trademarking of the name PM Dawn sounds real shady. First, why would you go to a man who is on his deathbed and ask him can you trade mark the name his groups name? Secondly, if you were asking him on the up and up, why would you not have someone there to verify that he said it was okay? And thirdly, why would you not involve the two individuals who put together the group, and came up with the name, on the ownership of the trademarking of the name along with yours? That's a sucker move.
It's real sad PM Dawn don't get the recognition from the black community and the black music industry for changing the industry with their music it was a whole vibe💯.
It’s was because their singles were too popular with white people. Plus, it didn’t help that they peaked too soon the first time out with the first album. They made great music after that, but the first album set their bar so high that it became impossible to top
Yeah because they're too busy promoting ignorant thugs who are fake, and trashy rappers that act like bums and strippers. It's so sad!! The things they are promoting aren't black music, it's ignorant music promotes by the powers that be.
PM Dawn changed my life in more ways that can be described. You helped me get and stay sober.. for real. I’m almost in tears typing this, God Bless y’all. Rest easy in heaven Prince Be. And thank you Eternal for still holding it down being here.
I Dj weddings on the side and almost every one I do I play Mermory's Bliss...even when I do country weddings...the song is so versatile. I was a live when it released but now in my 40s I'm rediscovering PM and so is my daughter. Much love Bliss and Eternal.
R.I.P Prince Be. My Neighbor. His Crib Was Across The Street From The Park On Paterson Plank Road. He Used To Dine At The Seafood Restaurant I Worked At On Tonnelle. I Only Wished I'd Told Him How Much His Music Meant To Me,Especially This Piece In Particular. Thank You For Sharing Your Gift With Us. R.I.P. Brother Prince Be.
In 1998, here in Italy (where I live) while I was in the car with my girlfriend, on the radio, I heard the song by P.M.Dawn "Being so not for you (I had no right) ... I fell in love with it, unfortunately in in those days there were no smartphones or services like Shazam, which we could only dream of... the moment they said the name of the group and the song to buy the compact disc at the record store the frequency was interrupted, with GREAT regret... I never found it again because Italian radios RARELY played this kind of music, unfortunately. ...One of the songs I searched for years and years. I found it exactly 30 minutes ago! 25 years later, thanks to a playlist random Spotify! The first thing I did was say this to that girl who was in the car with me and who is now my wife! ... I'm emotional and without shame I shed a tear!
I was a 1st date with a guy that had a sound system out of this world, He played Die without you and it gave me INSTANT chills, that bass was everything!!!!
P M DAWN,,, what a group. Bought all their cds,,, the tune die without you, i used to play on repeat for hours, and still, today. Close my eyes, and it would put me in a natural high, EMOTIONAL too, most time cry, even as i am composing this comment. Thank you, SIR, for this documentary. Can you see how the powers that be create division in our community, and we, *as sheep, in a pasture, are forever lead to slaughter?* 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🌡💥💣🇨🇼🇩🇲🇨🇦
They were 30 years ahead of their time!! If they were out now they would have a cult base and could own all their stuff! Make their own content and tours. Man!
Check this out.....When KRS One threw Prince Bee off a stage during a show.....believe it or not hardcore hip hop artist was very upset at KRS One for his assault on Prince Bee. The hip hop community was saying "How You Gonna Be For Black Education & Pride, But You Put Hands On Another Brotha & They wasn't a threat ....You a Hypocrite ! " I remember rappers was saying that about Kris. That's when I saw PM Dawn got so much support from the hardcore rap artist....I was glad rap back then stood up to I'll will behavior..... 💯⭐💯⭐💯⭐💯⭐💯⭐
PM Dawn is in a category by itself, like Jimi Hendrix. Attrell was a genius composer and a beautiful singer while Jarrett had the melodic harmonies cornered. I will always love PM Dawn. (Miss you muchly, Prince Be ❤️ Thank you for the gorgeous music.)
I'm so happy that I took the time to watch this , it was a learning experience. To this day I still bump Of The Heart, Of the Soul & Of the Cross, it is an immaculate piece of art. Truly a Utopian Experience. RIP Prince Be.
For years I hoped they would do a show on PM Dawn . When Gangsta Rap was taking over the game and getting away from what started as party and feel good music these guys changed the game with melodic music with positve messages . I loved them from the first time I heard them and I still play their music to this day . What a great duo .
I live on a small island in Hawaii called Moloka’i population 7000 30 miles long 10 miles across. Our so called club holds 250 at max. Well they came on the Heineken tour in the late 90’s I couldn’t believe it. I had to call the bar an ask, sure enough. There were only 11 people at the bar. I’ll never forget it, and he sounded amazing RIL Prince B ❤
Forever grateful and blessed to have grown up with their Music (The real PM Dawn) I'm in my 40's now and still listen to them full blast in my car to drown my kids out 😆❤️❤️
I thought they were British. He has a British look and sound❤️ definitely one of my favourite songs and duo. Prince B came to this universe and did what he came to do. He just transitioned back to where he came from. What an amazing soul. Thanks for the memories you left behind❤️
I can see why you'd think he was British, Set Adrift has a very mellow breakbeat sound reminiscent of ambient house and breakbeat music back then from the UK, as well as UK Street Soul music.
Damn, mind blown. I'm saddened here to see all the dissention here coming from a so called "cousin" who came outta nowhere to "save the day". If you don't have trust then you have nothing. A thief full of GREED is what that guy is. Prince B always stood out as special to me even if I never invested in the music. R.I.P. Prince B. ✌️💕🙏 You're voice will carry on forever.
I love PM Dawn. The original PM Dawn. Every since I saw their Unsung, and learned that the outside dude now owns their name, I do not stream non of their music anymore. I'm not giving money to that conniving dude.
It's a shame. Record company people are shadyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! Doc G should be ashamed of himself. Praying that they will receive all the royalties owed to you and your brother.
I’m 31, Never heard of them, PM DAWN are absolutely AMAZING!! Set adrift literally makes me tear up, I get so many different emotions listening to it. I’m grieving for a group that I never heard up until 10 mins ago😩added to my iTunes library IMMEDIATELY!! My goodness….❤❤❤❤❤
Love I'd die without and set a drift on memory bliss that's the two songs I like by them and they never actually got credit for it sad but true love they music
So Glad PM brought Death, Memory & Reality into my life!!! So underrated! Needs HIGHLY TO BE RECOGNIZED AS A BEAUTIFUL SINGER, SONGER WRITER & HUMAN BEING, Amen🙆♀️🙏🙇♀️✌️👍💕😘💕🌎💕
I've always loved uniqueness. This is what I noticed when first hearing and seeing them. Being outside the box afforded them a variety of opportunities. Different is a breathe of fresh air.
