People need to be more aware of this info! Here are some notes I took: Michael Rubino on MindBodyGreen interview Mold remediation building materials Tile on concrete better than laminate or wood Magnesium oxide board Mineral wool better than fiberglass Get MERV 16 filter for HVAC Check for mold: Toilet tank cover, coffee machines, dishwasher filter, under sinks, front load washers The Dust Test company to test. couple tips … AFTER the shower …,rinse walls with clean water using a 32 oz plastic cup or your sprayer … then Wipe down all surfaces in shower area with a ckean heavy thick towel… wash the towel in washer asap with laundry… best not to leave lots of wet towels and or clothes hanging in small spaces like a bathroom… white vinegar and water to clean the coffee pot … teapots create mold inside if water residue remains so take top off after each use while teapot is hot …
I nearly died from mold in a house I bought because the sellers did not disclose previous water damage. Months of exposure to multiple toxic mold, my life has been altered in unimaginable ways. The worst part was hearing previous owners could not be held accountable which means they could do the same thing to someone else. Horrifying.
I'm so sorry. I had a bad mold spread in my FL condo. I had it remediated and tested. When I put the condo on the market, it was my legal duty to inform the buyers! Can't you sue them? I'm sure they knew, might get proof from a neighbor who overheard, or saw repair trucks. I wish you health. I'm a mold magnet. Moved back to CT. Apt House has mold. I'm almost the same sick here as I was in FL.
I had condo blocks with insulation and dry wall. Couldn't see it was wet. When we removed the dry wall and insulation the concrete block showed wet areas and cracks between where blocks were connected one to the next! Major mold. Chronic fatigue, brain fog was so bad I had amnesia for 3 months. Moved to CT into a 6 year old Apt House. Yup! Mold again.
Mobilehome in FL full sun had a musty smell to it in one closet in bedroom. The rest of the house was fine. I had 4 company's come in. I kept getting sick. Sneezing, wheezing, body aches, tired, coughing, watering eyes, using my inhaler was useless. Had lung cancer 5 years earlier caught early by mistake from coughing up bile. I am cured but everytime I'm at this FL MOBILE home I get sick. I was there less than 2 days ended up with pneumonia. Was mostly outside & stayed in hotel. 3 company's ran their test which isn't cheap & came back with nothing. I have to wonder if they just took my money & lied. Company #4 enclosed my crawl space put up a sumppump & dehumidifier french drains & pvc pipe for any water to go to a pond near by. Plus added basins in the yard for what, I don't know to a tune of over 50k. The job was going to cost 27k that I paid in advance bc the company said with supply & demand I should pay now instead of just the deposit. This company has an A with the BBB. I tried getting my $ back b4 they started but they already cashed my check & some FL law says there's no grace period so I couldn't get my money back. They told me it would take 3 weeks son8 booked a hotel room for 3 weeks & they did it in 7 days. Of course no refund from the hotel nor did I expect it, but it could t hurt to ask. It still hasn't rained enough to see if any of that other stuff worked. I'm starting to feel better from pneumonia, yet afraid to go back to the MH in fear of getting sick again. I'm retired living of my 401k what's left of it and social security. This grandmother is tired of getting taken advantage of. I don't know anyone in this new town. So i bought some sprays, foggers, called mold control comtrolium & hope for the best. Plus getting a dehumidifier for in the home. Do you guys have any other recommendations I should do other than wear safety gear? Thx
It’s not normal when you find yourself cleaning mold out of your toilets every few days. Mold should not be growing like that. Those countertop water filters can also be a place for mold to grow. I live in a condo for 4 years. We were exposed to mold from the HVAC in the dark humid closet on the balcony. We were very sick…couldn’t function sick. Then there is no recourse for these situations. I threw away 90% of my stuff. Thank God I could move but it’s financially devastating. My 13 year old still has trouble with his memory, fatigue, dizziness and leaky gut. He had 15 other symptoms before we moved. It’s been 4 months and just getting steady relief. There needs to be more lawsuits…laws to support this as more lawsuits forces builders and owners to make sure they are doing everything to ensure occupancy safety. I was on disability for three months and this has effected my health, my sons health. We went from two people who never had any health issues to having difficulty, walking, sleeping, eating, breathing.
@@telahquemere6100but at the same time there needs to be the SAME applied to tenets that run hot shower and spreads moisture through out, fails to keep place clean and turns a beautiful safe building into a mold volcano. There should be CRIMINAL PENALTIES for renters.
I found mold in the drain of the water machine in our senior center. I also saw mold inside of the large blue, plastic water jug in the waiting room of a dentist we were considering. When I saw that mold in that water jug I decided that if the dentist allowed that to happen, there was NO WAY I was going to let that dentist in my mouth!!
YES! Great video. I've gone through it and am familiar with almost all you're saying. Now I'm trying to educate my neighbors in my moldy Apt House. Our HVACs are black behind the filters! Not cleaned EVER! They simply put in a new filter covering the disgusting grill! In one Apt, the drain got clogged and backed up. Mold grew up out of the floor between the laminate!
I would have died from a leased house at 7116 West Lake Dr. west Palm Beach FL had I not aggressively pursued the truth. The man who did the work on the house lied to me and accepted $750.00. The owner will one day understand that leasing comes with a lot of responsibility for the liveability of a home not just painting the walls. I’ve run through more than $100,000 to survive mold mycotoxins.
I understand this 💯 completely. So why are some people (the owner of the house I'm living in) & others just can't comprehend "Mycotoxins" After a towel was stuffed underneath the washing machine because it was leaking - still don't know why or where the water was coming from, either the hook up or the washing machine (brand new) previous washing machine molded on the front loading door rubber gaskets and he cleaned it with BLEACH!!! I know too many people who have Lyme Disease and Mold problems and I learned to never clean mold or mycotoxins w bleach, it spreads the mycotoxins out and they stick to every surface, right? Im with low immune system due to Lyme Disease - which I have been treating for 10 years - I moved to this house 5 years ago and had cleared all my co-infections so only had the Lyme to get out. Now I've been stray cat bitten and tested positive for Bartonella. I never had Bartonella from the tick bite and was glad. I had Babesia and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in San Francisco, CA All the above are fatal if not treated. So I tested positive for Mycotoxin strains and the highest was off the chart - Deoxynivalenol mycotoxin. Besides the sinus infections - which are dangerously close to the brain and not being able to eat - when in this house, curiously the anxiety, heart racing and inability to put food in my mouth (and 20 other symptoms) all go away when I leave and go somewhere with fresh air- I can eat. So im pretty positive it's not a sycho somatic reason, (Also suddenly I'm losing words l know, but can't find to say or write) "Psychic" and "Pyscho" do not register in my mind as spelled correctly, and I'm an excellent speller. "Psychological" looks right to me, yet, Psycho somatic doesn't look right. It should start with a "S" Im losing my mind. My doctors wanted me out of this house immediately at 6? Month ago. I want to go back to my home - San Francisco and Marin County. But section 8 emergency housing has to be in the same County that you are currently residing in. Ive never been in this rural town of the Bay Area and it's about 2 hours or more depending upon traffic to drive to see and get iv treatment from my specialized Lyme Disease physicians, including a Dentist who is biodentical? I think that is the right word. Im supposed to be getting iv treatments every 3rd day for about 6 months.
upstate NY is full of mold!!! and NJ near the Hudson river- serious mold problems there- i even thought to start a non=profit for tenants against mold. i moved 2 times last month from black mold and moved into my brother's neglected apt into mold- never had I moved so much so fast- got out of 2 yearly leases and lost money- but i knew enough about mold and smells, and just detecting leaks- here i would say too that regulations are not being passed legally- landlords really need education.
i will say that i knew how to detox mold usig far infrared sauna- I use RElax sauna. This takes mold out very fast. I luckily use everyday and did not get very sick- of course, im detoxing now too- i saw the mold come out right after exposure from my sauna- you will even see black on your towels or sheets after sweating at night.
People would be shocked how many home owners paint and replace carpet just to cover the smell and lie on a sellers disclosure about water leaks. It’s so scary I’d build myself. I don’t think I’d buy a prebuilt home EVER. Also, stop putting mulch against your house. Leave a gravel space at last 1-2 feet away. It helps with drainage.
How about decks? Sharing a backyard in the city he builds a deck right down to the ground no clearance! Only a few feet away from my old window and back door! Need to get see what’s going on under there!
Dust free home nearly killed me. There are gases given off by molds and mold toxins. I had hepa filter on a/c, a $5000 mold inhibitor and two Austin Airs with HEPA. You must get out of a moldy house. A water damaged house cannot be filtered. This video is horribly misleading. Going back into the house after getting well I know nothing but pulling out the a/c (professionally recommended) would help. My filters are contaminated. I gave my things away.
How about vertigo extreme equilibrium. Trouble walking?? After being totally healthy please talk about severe reaction and don’t call extreme reactions “bizarre” and what about slumlords??? So many and they are disgusting people evil not fixing mold problems!
Videos that go SOOO SLOW get sped up at least 1.5-2.0 times. I like spoiler alerts for informational videos bc then I can decide for myself if I want to spend my time watching/listening to it.
@@JillofAllTrades2 that's good that you find spoilers beneficial, but I didn't even get 5 seconds in before I gave it a hard pass, youtube should provide a preview option if people like yourself want to see a preview rather than creators forcing previews on everyone just because it's trendy
25:46 "While a MERV 16 filter captures >95% of particles in the entire test range (0.3-10.0 microns), a HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles with a size of 0.3 microns." (Quote From: Coronavirus Prevention with Air Filters: Understanding MERV and HEPA by NY-Engineers)
Could you please send a link to this reference? I´m trying to understand the correlation between merv and HEPA scales, as in my country I can´t find anyone talking about merv, only HEPA (such as HEPA 13). Thanks.
From what I gather, the challenge with HEPA filters is that there’s much more drag on the air so fans have to work a lot harder. HEPA filters are more expensive and should be changed more often.
Thanks! Yep. Been noticing ALL of the places that mold grows. I occasionally check and clean inside toilet tank. I remove rubber rings/gaskets and wipe clean. In my last house I had an ERV installed to get outside air into the house. I have a UV light in the HVAC system. I try to stay aware of stale/still air. I use vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters. Etc., etc., etc. I’m looking up MERV filters now.
Use magnesium oxide board (doesn't hold moisture the way that drywall does) is better than of drywall. If the drywall gets wet, it will crumble and grow mould The focus should be on water management. E.g. waterproofing & drainage strategies Mineral wool is better than fiberglass for insulation MERV 16 for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) 31:02 Keep your front load washing machine open for ventilation, rubber gasket can trap moisture in the folds, clean your tray. Coffee machine, sippy cups, dish washer (filter, rubber seal), shower grout, toilet tank (if you have mould here, shut the water supply off, you flush it and clean it), underneath kitchen sinks and bathroom sinks, we have leaks all the time. We don't, we're not realizing it and maybe there's slow drips, but that slow drip is enough to get the wood. Which could also get the drywall behind it wet, which can create, you know, again, trap moisture and mold growth. 40:20 Testing the air doesn’t get to the root cause, testing the dust does. What is your goal and budget? If you're renting, you know, air purification, better filtration in the HVAC, removing dust reservoirs, where these contaminants recirculate. Big importance there.
