I am longsword main in mhw, got tired playing it for 300 hours, trying to get a new weapon in mhr. And my mind was blown away with how aggressive and fast switch axe is. And this weapon is the only weapon that i use in MHR
One thing that should be mentioned on the two stage axe morph is that after morphing back into axe, if you press circle or B, you do a disengaged axe swipe. That will build moret distanced, has a few s and covers against attacks like Tigrex bite or Gross Harag lunge. You can also sidestep for good measure.
One interesting thing I noticed about the 2 staged morph slash, the alternate sword morph slash; the uppercut where you move forward, that move actually combos into the sword triple slash. It’s not particularly useful because if you’re doing the 2 staged morph you probably aren’t in the amped state and it’s easier to get to the triple sword slash in other ways, but I thought it was a cool discovery and it looks stylish. Also after you complete the full 2 staged morph slash you can press the right face button to do a fade slash immediately after, I haven’t used it much in combat but you may find it useful
25:38 phial switch boost also increases the damage of morph attacks. I believe it works a bit better with power phials but i use it in all my switch axe builds because of the easier gauge management
What it does is it also applies your phial bonus to morph attacks, instead of just sword attacks. So for power phials that means you'll do more raw dmg, for power element phials you'll do more element or status, and for status or dragon phial it means you'll apply said status or dragon element. Status phial work with Buildup Boost, making exhaust phial unironically good in this game (easier amp and more raw dmg than power phial) at the cost of qurio armor or talisman investment. Phial Switch Boost best in slot for basically all phials except element, where element exploit wins out on hitzones 25 or higher. But this depends on the monster matchup and phial switch boost also has the gauge benefits, so there's nothing wrong with always running it.
Awesome video! I have recently been having fun using wire step on my main scroll with a dragon conversion build, but I want to make one of these builds to get more out of it with status trigger, bladescale hone and adrenaline rush as without having 2 or all 3 of these on the build, I feel like I lose a lot more than I gain by using wire step instead of soaring wyvern blade
One thing I noticed with Intrepid Heart is that it cancels out a roar stagger, but Intrepid Heart doesn't kick in when you time an Invincible Gambit when a monster roars.
That's right! The rule of thumb is that Intrepid Heart will cancel any type of stagger, but only if you don't do anything else that would cancel it out first. So anything with hyper armor like Invincible Gambit would cancel the stagger and save your Intrepid Heart charge!
Didn't know there were so many status boosting skills. I'm still pretty early in the game but I wonder how effective these would be on the status ammo that gunner has. Dodge into a status ammo for really high proc levels. Hmm. Don't think it has effect on exhaust, but definitely interesting to think about.
Ever since World I've sworn by EvadeAxe. It's annoying having to explain to my friends every time we play that my DPS stays insanely high due to the fact that I never have to heal, sharpen, and most importantly get back to the fight after carting. You just don't get hit it die with builds like this, so your relative damage stays on par with purpose built damage builds because. Every time people ask me why I run utility over damage I simply say "I'm not a speed runner, and neither are you" On Console we've only just gotten Sunbreak so I've been playing it for about a week now and I'm in love with my Blood Rite/Bloodlust build utilizing Shag helm and legs, Malz chest and waist, and Lucent Narg braces. It's made an insanely strong build that allows me to maintain the ZSD into SWB combo I love so much because the only damage I'll ever take is when I've latched onto a monster, but it's all healed back. I've dubbed the build "Bloodbath" and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to play anything else now that I've got this
@@reignreigngoaway967 Oh it's far from perfect, but it suits my purposes until I can get some better charms and augmentations. Just like this video mentions though, evasion on SwAxe is extremely potent and abuseable. Some attacks even seem to grant I-frames because there have been so many times where a monster has just pushed me a bit instead of actually hitting me. I'm just a fan of Blood Rite as well because it reminds me of when I ran double health augment Safi set for that excellemt mix of damage and comfort.
So I think you are referring to the fact that the ore swaxe gets the paralysis phial, and yes, I'm pretty sure that will work with status trigger! It was one of my favorites before settling on the volvidon axe for para!
I am at a point where I am going to try any unorthodox playstyle with certain weapons. SA used to be my main weapon on MH4 and MH4U. This video and your explanation are exactly what I need. Thank you so much for this.
