Imagine if these are gonna make it to Spider-Man 2. The web line gadget that was cut from this game appears in the gameplay of Spider-Man 2, Miles uses it during that stealth section.
4:10 this still breaks me inside. I know the whole face issue is over now, but I dont think I'll ever truly be over it. Although im greatful for the mods, they just dont truly do it justice imo
Hey tiff, is it possible to mod a pre rendered video in this game? I want to change the end credits on PC but I don't know where to find it in the game files
this happens with almost every games development. resident evil 2 (og) was almost a whole different game that was almost completed but the devs thought they could do better and restarted the whole thing. Red dead redemption 2 has whole list of charecters with voicelines that were never in the vanilla game! theres the legendary catfish, an early caveman , A giant , charecters from rdr1 and wayyy more. Every single gta game is also filled with 100s of things in the game files that were made but never used. Re4 was also advertised with a gameplay demo which was wayyy more survival horror with the classic 2.5D camera angle. Prince of Persia series also had fully detailed models of boses that were never in the final product! Metal Gear Solid V TPP also had a different last mission with complete codec calls for it! Am i saying these are better devs than insomiac? Hell no! My only point of writing these was to generate a spark in you finding these cut content of ogs games :)
It‘s a shame that those villains didn‘t make it, because they decided to go for way more „classic“ villains everyone knows instead of more obscure ones, which imo would‘ve been more interesting.
I feel like the reason they killed off so many of Spider-Man's popular villains is so they could introduce obscure ones. I hope in the sequel we get villains like Big Wheel, The Spot (likely cause of the movies), Hydro-Man, The Beetle, Jackal even. They still have Electro, Taskmaster and Sandman running around as well as the potential of Green Goblin, and Carnage being introduced. Doc Ock and Venom could potentially come back too so while it sucks they killed off good villains they still have a lot to use a bit of old and new.
Interesting to see cut villains in this. I wonder what they would've been involved during the game. Maybe we'll see them in the sequel. Although, I'm surprised we didn't see them implemented in the Miles Morales game.
@@tiffsomniac Maybe Insomniac wanted to include well-known villains from the rogues gallery. Lesser known ones wouldn't have been interesting, but their presence would've made them more aware to the casual fans.
@@tiffsomniac It's interesting to know that Chameleon is referenced in the files. When I first played the Spider-Men side mission, I was looking forward to the possibility of him showing up when he's mentioned. I wish the game had more villain side missions rather than mostly all civilian quest givers.
I think Peter's face in the background photo looks much better. MJ's model for me looks like a lower quality version of the final one with lighter hair.
I wish they included the cut content from the first game in Spider-Man 2. Also the sliding down the wall animations suggests to me that they might've been more freedom in wall running, not just upwards but also downwards like in Web of Shadows.
@@StuartLugsden I think gangster villains like Crime Master and Big Man would've fit here as side missions, given the power vacuum that's created once The Kingpin was taken out.
@@themadtitan7603 Maybe, but Silk will get her own game at some point and we’re getting a third Spidey so theres a chance they’ll get reused. The hood was reused for a comic and he can always be brought back.
The ground slide does seem super pointless I'm surprised it even got far enough to be cut content. Now sliding in buildings like web of shadows would've been a lot better
I’m guessing sliding was cut because it looked janky sliding over small items in the geometry and they felt it was going to be frustrating to stop the player if they collided, but couldn’t work out an animation that accounted for passing over bumps without looking incredibly janky, like it looks in the restored version.
Interesting, that slide is even showcased in the E3 2017 demo, during the in-building section of the helicopter chase. Paired with the old footage of the cafe interior chase that was cut, I wonder if sliding's primary purpose was to be used as a minigame when passing through building interiors? I'd imagine building interiors were intended to work like Assassins Creed 3, where you enter an opening on one side of a building and pass straight through, so maybe the slide would have served as a kind of QTE depending on the furniture you had to navigate in each interior.
really wish some of these would come as additional mods that don't replace stuff tbh. Mostly the animations seem possible to be added as additions instead of replacements.
Spider-Man 2 is great, they've improved on the first game a ton! Though there could still be a few improvments. For example, I think they should have wall combat, similar to what Web of Shadows had, though I guess in order for there to be wall combat they would need an enemy that makes sense to meet Spider-Man on the side of buildings. I'd also love if we could use the slingshot on the side of buildings to just shoot ourselves up, they added it while standing but would've been cool to do it on the side of a building too and not just rely on zip lines and running to reach the top of a building. Also it's still weird they changed Peter's face because they wanted an actor that looked like Yuri Lowenthal so the mocap would be better but that doesn't make much sense when MJ's face doesn't even look like the real life model so they could've kept original Peter's face.
I have a pet theory that there was a contract issue with Bubniak (he prob wanted more money for the sequel and Miles) and they didn't want to make a big stink so they chose a face that was as far away from his as humanly possible. It really doesn't make sense that they would change his face for creative reasons especially since their excuse was "longevity of the franchise" but **SPOILERS** Pete retires in the 2nd game anyway, and is meant to take a step back from Miles.
@@user1134b6s they actually just had difficulty with the new technology with the older face actor and wanted to have one to match yuri’s face structure a bit more. Plus Peter doesn’t retire in the second game, he decides to take a break it’s literally in the dialogue
I think I saw the post of the mj face actor was in line to get Spider-Man 2, I saw her face online and how much she looks like her character in the games
Same. Or just more greater Marvel universe heroes and villains. I don't know if it's to do with rights or Insomniac playing it conservatively with appearances in this series.
