This was so brilliant and funny Nelson. I was actually laughing out loud watching chess...which I never thought would be something that would ever happen 😂😂😂😂
One tip I try to remember is that each new chess move is an entirely "new" game unless it is the correct line that you calculated as best for both players. once it is a surprising move due to miscalculation or a new line, it is a "new" game.
I was a realestate developer for homes and construction. Yes ego, making a decision and investing hard money, I have had to eat my pride and sell or stop the project and get out of it what I could. Now, chess is the same. So great lesson. Wonderful
Another great episode! I failed directly the first example, because c3 would be my autopilot response and I bet I would have made this mistake in an actual game. What I also like is how this mirrors business decisions, where failed projects are not accepted. I see this again and again in my job.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! It has wide ramifications indeed! Let's hope watching this video will help reduce some of those chess mistakes! 🙂
It also applies to calculation. It is tough to not play a move that you calculate so deeply for several minutes. It’s tough to admit that you can’t evaluate at least one variation and to chose a less-ambitious but solid move
Absolutely enlightening 🎉💯💯👏👏👏I consider this a chess lecture, for it's maturity and logic, more than a video 🎉I have made this mistake for many years, holding on to the idea of not willing to waste a tempo,by a retreat, thank to this idea , you can trade a tempo for a strategic advantage or improvement,i think sometimes chess principles must be applied as situation demands🎉🎉great great great video, never read this in any book thank you,🎉
I also got my rook trapped like that several times in the past. It's just so easy for minor pieces to attack if it's surrounded by pawns and can't go backwards because maybe you have doubled up or something. One time I had a rook like this when playing against someone who was 1800 OTB. In the time it took me to get my rook out, he could put his knight on an extremely good square, and nothing in my position could move anymore because something would have been hanging. I lost the game a few moves later
