Really enjoyed your video. We were on the Solstice in Sept./22 and enjoyed it. In May/22, we did a B2B on the Silhouette doing the Norwegian Fjords and Scandinavia cruises. Yes, the Silhouette was revolutionized. We did many Celebrity cruises but felt we wanted a change as most of our cruises were on the S-Class ships, because of itineraries. So, in February, we will cruise with Holland America and doing a 35-day cruise (Hawaii/French Polynesia/Marquesas Islands - return to San Diego. Love your "Sod it we're retired" as you and looking forward to experiencing a new line. I hope we're as happy with HAL as we have been with Celebrity.
Sounds an amazing cruise you’re going on. We know what you mean about itineraries. We did a Princess cruise to go through the Panama Canal because they had better itineraries. Let us know what you think of HA, we’ve looked at going on them to Alaska
Brilliant video, lovely to see you both thoroughly enjoying yourselves, you do need stout comfy footwear for ports & airports though, you certainly get your 10k steps in just getting on board. Looking forward to the rest of the trip. Never having been on a cruise it would be interesting to know how you navigate the website of a new ship/cruisecompany when making your choice, how you decide which ship, which room/suite, which package etc. 🎉🎉
Think you have to decide what’s important to you. Is it the destinations, big ship, small ship, what experience you want on the ship, is entertainment important to you or the food Celebrity do really good food, entertainment is good, but Princess were better with entertainment a good person to follow on You-Tube is Tips for Travellers , a guy called Gary who’s been cruising for years and has done most cruise lines in all sorts of different cabins, give him a watch, hope it helps xx
Also we will be on this same ship for our Alaska cruise at the end of May 2024. When we booked the Asia trip we had no idea it was the same ship so well be on it twice this year in the same Sunset Sky suite.
Ship looks wonderful and some great night shots. As a matter of interest do you feel the suites are worth the money. We’ve never splashed out but I do quite like the idea of the Luminae restaurant which looks wonderful. Did you manage to get a look at the other main dining options? So looking forward to our Apex cruise and watching your video makes it feel more exciting. Just a note re Hong Kong taxi fare. It’s not that it’s very cheap it’s that in UK it’s very expensive! 😀
We do like spending the extra for a suite, Luminae is lovely and the Retreat experience is great, it’s not on all the ships as in this case, but there is Michael’s Club which is very nice. We’ve also been Aqua class and Blu restaurant also very good. The trouble with going in a suite is you never want to go back to an ordinary cabin.
I have enjoyed all your videos for this trip. We will be doing the exact trip in November 2024. I did not realize the cruise line took possession of your passport upon boarding. That makes me a little uncomfortable.
Really enjoyed this vlog. We're on your cruise next Jan and we cant wait. Quick question, did you guys have to buy a visa for Vietnam? Thanks in advance for your help
Hi, no we didn’t need to buy a visa but you will need to surrender your passport when you first get on the ship, you get it back on the last day. The ship then arranged for Visas, the first excursion going off took a little longer as the visa needed to be reviewed by the immigration authorities who came on board the ship and stamped them. The same visa was then used for all subsequent excursions and checked as we left the ship.
I have this exact cabin booked for Alaska. Would you say this is a great room ? or iwould it be worth an upgrade to a Celebrity suite midship? Love your videos
We love this cabin and have chosen it 3 times now, we have just been on an Antarctica cruise on Celebrity Eclipse in the same sort of cabin, it’s great as you get a view from 2 sides, it will be amazing for Alaska, hope you have a fantastic time
Hi Roger we stayed at the Intercontinental Grand Stanford. To get to the cruise terminal the concierge hailed us a taxi and they took us to the luggage drop off point, it was super easy and also great value. We have some videos on both the hotel and embarkation which had a small bit on the taxi.
