Yeah it’s pretty ,but it makes no sense to use an engine that’s not already built and properly designed with a proper track record since they like the word proper ..I say that means using tech that provides proper precision proven solutions with a power plant that also has 100’s of support and suppliers for repairs, not a new engine that’s not been running for decades with no maintenance support that’s worldwide like modern current engines and technology with techs already trained to provide reliable maintenance..this is like the first iPhone show where JOBS had to pretend the phone worked because it didn’t yet,and these guys don’t have a flying machine yet ??
I first came aboard in August of 2020 and was inspired to take the steps to become a commercial helicopter pilot and finally follow my childhood dream. After starting school I had to take a break due to divorce and a breast cancer diagnosis. Today I’m proud to be cancer free and starting back up at school in March of 2024 to finish the last 25 hours of my commercial license here in Canada. I am a huge fan of Mischa and Reuben as well. My goal is to finish my license fly the HX50 and one day operate the HC50 commercially. Thank you for proving dreams come true and for keeping me inspired to live mine too!!
Congratulations on being cancer-free. It's my dream to fly a helicopter. My father was an airplane and helicopter pilot, flying has always been in my blood but I'll never be able to afford school. 😢
Good Onya for being Strong. I Can’t say much about those two (Mischa & Reuben) I nearly moved on, But I do like the HX50 Very Much. Hopefully one day I’ll purchase one. Once again good on you.
I’ll be surprised if this bird flys by 2027/8 with the home built engine shown. A clean sheet design of a gas turbine that is organically built is a unicorn. I’ve always thought it was a bad idea to not use a proven power plant built by a proven manufacturer whose life depends on making a good engine. I’d also concentrate on the folding green and forget the warm and fuzzy green until I got the ship airborne. The machine is already on a trajectory to be a million dollar helicopter by the time it becomes available. Doing a product launch with a no engine and non-flying prototype is a bit strange. This thing is beautiful but it’s got a long way to go. I’m not convinced that it won’t be the second or third owner that gets it across the finish line. Just my opinion based on investing in and working with many start-ups.
I agree about the engine. If performance targets do not depend on the new engine, there is no need to add risk and delay to the aircraft project for the engine; If performance targets do depend on the new engine, the project will fail, since the new engine is unlikely to meet targets (exceptionally unlikely in the case of an inexperienced manufacturer).
A proven turbine engine is key. As for the guy that talks about this being a million dollar helicopter.. ARE YOU INSANE?? Agusta helicopters are 10-13 million. Maybe 16 million now.
Your excellent presentation was marred by the two fellows you had on stage with you who kept interrupting, most annoying. Amazing helicopter like no other, congratulations.
Yes, I thought they'd have had instructions to shut up after the disasters they made of the other GMDEs with their constant, badly timed interjections... That aside, these are beautiful machines and there are so many reasons to make an HX50 your choice if you're in the market for a private helicopter, it's a no-brainer... Outstanding!
Congratulations to the entire team and to Jason in particular for having the tenacity and determination to guide his dream into reality. The only feedback I have is please, PLEASE don't have the two hosts join Jason again. The constant interruption was driving me nuts. This is a moment Jason's been waiting for for his whole life and he could barely get a sentence out without some interruption. This is why you have a presentation FOLLOWED by a Q&A.
i don't know him but its clearly a tech guy and MAYBE those hosts are there to help him with the presentation or he will take fly with his own words loosing the focus of the crowd. just my opinion.
@@claudioforlani9015 Maybe you're right. Or as they are pilots, it could be for credibility, but it is annoying....🙈...but understandable (Mr. Hill could not be speaking alone all by himself because it could become to much for the public...👍
I'm 30 minutes in and had to come to the comments to see whether it was just me. I find it excruciating and a pretty rude presentation style when Jason is trying to talk to the audience. I think it's partly a cultural difference (American, British) but they are interrupting and acting childish in a really important moment in HX50's introduction to potential customers and maybe even investors.
The two hosts are professional helicopter pilots who have flown helicopters around the world. They have a very informative helicopter RU-vid channel called Pilot Yellow. I felt a little similar about your sentiments about the open discussion style. However, on reflection, in this day and age, I think it's a good thing not to revere any one individual too much and celebrate the community/team as a whole. Plus, it must be difficult to contain so much enthusiasm and excitement on such a momentous occasion. I was very impressed with Mr. Hill and his team and their accomplishments. I imagine having the Pilot Yellow guys (influencers) there (who are probably in business together somehow with this project) gives a relatable connection with the flying community. I expect and hope that some of the first HX50 flying videos will include the Pilot Yellow guys. (I used to be a CPL(H) and have a lot of respect for the Pilot Yellow RU-vid channel.)
I don't particularly have an issue with the actual hosts, I'm sure they're lovely people etc, I just find it frustrating that they keep interrupting. It's a massively exciting presentation and I get that everyone is eager to be involved, but let the man talk!
Summary: they now have pretty models of what appear to be complete helicopters, but they don't even have one complete engine so they are very far from anything flying... but you can give them money today in hopes that someday they will build a helicopter for you.
Part of that system is that the deposit that you pay today is spent on development and promotion, so if they are ever ready to build one for you, they will still need the while production cost so your price will go up... and if they go bankrupt there will be no money to refund you.
I would prefer that the next 27:56 stage presentation of the HX50 you leave Reuben and Micha in the audience until Jason is done with the presentation. Their constant enthusiastic interruptions took away from the presentation. I think after Jason is done by all means have them jump on the stage and add their 2 cents. MHO
Everything they say in this video is great and the Helicopter looks great but how much is this machine going to cost on average? 10 million, or more. There is a reason other Helicopter companies do not get to innovative, it just cost why to much to produce and for that price, you may sell a few of them to the ulta rich, but forget about anyone in the genral public owning one. But I must say, you guys did a great job on the helo. Take care. Hawk out!!
These two pilots he has with him on stage need to be quiet and stop seeming to be negative and stop interrupting this brilliant man's dream that btw seems to be a world changing development, so I'm super glad for him and his dream, im sure this will all be reality very soon, people like him is what's needed in this world for many, many reasons especially for the private industry. Tootles....
Amazing story HH, what's haunting is I designed a helicopter out of balsa wood back in the early 80's which looks "exactly" like your design (shape) Jason but shorter in length, mine was only a 3 passenger 1 row of bucket seats with a regular 4-blade tail rotor, the blade system was going to be either a 3 blade rigid system (a-star concept) or 4 blade full articulating Elasto-Merit Damper system (Hughes design), it's nice to see someone bring their dreams to life as you have Jason, it's a true work of art. :)
@@jplacido9999 Lol, I am not looking for royalties, just thought it was funny we had the same design/shape concept, the machine itself is a "stunning" work of art I must say, very well designed. :)
@@nightcrawleroriginal 😊😊 I know...😊 I'm shure it came as a surprise to you that your vision became reallity. How nice is that...👍 I'm also a helo fan and first flight was on the great Hughes 500 (small ambulace version). Still hot as the Litle Bird version...
@@jplacido9999The HU-369 D was a very quick, versatile, nimble machine. It is nice to see an idea brought to life, but to make it clear, this is Mr. Hills work of Art here, he has refined it a whole lot more than my 3 passenger bench style setup and added the latest technology to it which didn't exist at my time of flying, they were introducing the Lorans system in our area to aircraft navigation when I was ripping holes in the sky. Thanks for the reply JP. :)
Whoever edited this and allowed the soft glowing lights for minutes was just wrong. The content of vids should be compelling. Hazy glowing lights are not. Great idea and helicopter but the editor of this vid needs to take some classes.
Fifty percent of startups fail. In aviation, it’s probably more like 75%. Unless you try to introduce a clean sheet design with a clean sheet engine. Then? Well I’m not optimistic. Sadly.
When I was a kid, I fell in love with helicopters because of the tv series "Airwolf". The Bell 222, to me, was the most beautiful helicopter. If they did a reboot or "Airwolf", after discovering Hill helicopters, I wouldn't mind at all if they used an HX50 to replace the original Bell! Well done!!
Well now I know, after my initial scepticism about not using an engine off the shelf, all is revealed and may the power God's be with them! Crazy how a top line car is not much cheaper though!
Joe Pratt you’re right on so many levels, but don’t forget the 1% who will put large deposits on this bird, like they did on their super and hyper-supercars even before those were proven and functional; Mr. Hill said as much! Still, what a beautiful bird, it got me hyperventilating 😎
It is not reality yet ! It is only the beginning. Marenco Helicopter designed the Swisshelicopter SKYe SH09. Amazing machine by the way. The project was taken over by Agusta Westland at half of the testing phase, because it made sense for everyone. It is not yet qualified. It takes time. There are evolution, modifications to make. The designed and the manufacturing of a prototype is only the beginning.
When my teachers realized that I was good at designing airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles and helicopters as a young child, they complained to my Dad and the principal and they made me stop.
Silly they keep saying it’s a proper helicopter lol,gee is it real does it fly lol..so what is not a helicopter that’s proper, oh yeah that’s a plane it’s just got wings ,lol..
I love his thoughts of bringing genral aviation up to automotive standards. GA has been stuck in the 1960s for the most part. There are a few aircraft companies that bring great innovation but unfortunately not many. What I want to know is how much??? They were saying the people that were going to be flying the helicopters are the same people who drive Supercars? Great, looks like I'm shit out of luck. Take care. Hawk out!!
Great helicopter...and a wonderful story. But whoever edited this video ... I'm not sure you made the right choices... it is a little bloated with self indulgent mood shots, and the exposition would be much more effective if it was trimmed to the words that are needed. Just my 2 cents worth. I'd be interested to see what your analytics have to say about viewing time.
Looks absolutely incredible, a true game changer. Can't wait to see one flying. As an engineer in the aerospace and automotive sectors for 30 + years, and a private helicopter pilot, I can appreciate the amazing work you have done on every level, well done to all the team. If that lottery win comes good, I'll be ordering one the very next day. Superb 👍
1:09:13 Hes right that in order to control costs you have to have complete vertical integration of the manufacturing process. A lot of aviation companies buy all of the components from different suppliers and then assemble them at their factory, but that means they have to pay whatever the suppliers prices are and each supplier is trying to make a profit. That profit from each part is additional pricing that has to be added in to the final msrp. The way theyre doing it theyre going to get all of the components at cost plus labor so its going to be a million times cheaper. Theyre going to be getting their engines at the price it costs to make them vs what a company charges for them. This is going to be huge as far as them keeping the final msrp as low as possible.
Come on we are all thinking it, these 2 other blokes are getting in the way, I know there all excited but you can tell this wasn't scripted qnd it got in the way to much, just let the guy who's had the dream talk. These 2 should be talking to potential buyers. ANYWAY that's my 2 cents, regarding the Helicopter, it looks like a high end bespoke car, that's obviously going to cost plus maintenance will be high, most maintenance costs are due to time, man hours, removing and checking all the cowling will take alot longer now, that will put up maintenance costs and the more to do the more to check the more that can go wrong especially when flying. It will look good to watch flying though, the performance figures will be interesting
The only way they can make this helicopter better is if they make a twin engine model. But regardless, holy shit! This is the best helicopter imaginable. I sincerely hope they are successful at meeting all of their goals!
The design is similar to most UAV electric aircraft designs that are out there. The future is electric autonomous aircraft not really single engine helicopters. Multi electric engines in quad or hex or octo motor configurations are being built and tested for the industury.
Nice looking aircraft, some great innovative ideas. When your ready for carbon neutral synthetic aviation fuel get Micha to give me a call, he's got my number. I think we are the only ones in the world commercially making synthetic fuel now.
I don't like that the cargo door was trying to close and bounced against the human the whole time during the effort of unloading the cargo. That would be annoying.
I am VERY confident that this beautiful Helicopter would eventually get all of the required certification it needs to become operational. It's just amazing watching Dr Hill talk about this awesome machine......He is just so knowledgeable. Congratulations Dr Hill. I hope to have the opportunity someday to fly this exquisite chopper.
It looks like the innovations is about to make rich people bragging at the country club while burning the planet with ridiculous fuel consumption. I would be impressed by a helicopter platform that could also save lives in mountains or at sea
Looks a Great Aircraft ,What I would like to have seen this helicopter perform The HC50, a fully certified sibling of the HX50 , to get a idea of its fuel burn, & how far it could travel on full Tank of Jet A , that's the only thing we didn't get to see , I hope we can see this test in the next video, I think its a beautiful Aircraft, its a credit to Mr Hill & His Team, Bravo well done, Regards & Best Wishes To All the Hill Team, Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year 2024, Trevor.W.Bacelli. Biloela Qld Australia.
Amazing. Specially the instrument panel. Even the most modern copters by Airbus and Bell have panels and flight decks that look like a cluttered mess (despite the screens). This is so minimalist and neat! Only NOW is GA catching up to luxury automobile interiors.
"Let those guys do what they're good at." YES YES YES YES YES. WHYYYY can't more car companies, of all people, understand this concept?! Just like ForeFlight on an iPad has basically become the default standard for GA, CarPlay and Android Auto SHOULD be default infotainment systems on all cars. But noooooo, everybody has to be new and different. It's stupid.
Have followed this project for a long time its an amazing story, Jason Hill is inspirational. Cannot wait for it to take to the skys. If i win big on the lottery you would have my order quickly lol
I am not a fan of the looks of the this helicopter or the rotor fairing. They could have increased the cabin size to reduce the ugly looks of having such a tall rotor fairing. Like the hideous Robinson helicopter and its tall rotor system This one just has fancy cover placed over it. The tail rotor system looks nice but and there a a few other small features that I like but thats as far as I will go with it. The MD 600 and 900 series, Bell 222 and 525, Airbus ACH-160, H-145 are examples of beautiful helicopter designs. Now the interior of this helicopter looks very nice and very modern.
Why make such lofty goals. Better to offer 2 versions 1. A reasonable delivery date with available engines and drive trains. 2. No expected delivery date. If you want Hill Engine and drive train. Because Developing a turbine engine and drive train from scratch is a resource intensive endeavour, if some want to invest in the vision , Fine - but no delivery soon. On just the engine expected performance, if it was possible you would sell thousands of engines to other helicopter manufacturers. Not being negative - just drawing a line between “vision” and achievable goals. People are investing money.
I was just at Heli Expo an saw this beautiful helicopter. Got to talk to a few people there. I wish this guy all the best. But it will be a miracle if one ever flys. And they plan on selling this for $750k US. Not a freaking chance in Hell. I saw the engine prototype. Nothing new.
Let me just say that Robinson has built about 14000 helicopters 🚁 since 1973 and has been doing business around the world since then and almost any mechanic can work on them and has spare parts on hand. Then hill comes in and thinks they can take over with a concept. Good luck taking people’s money.
If it’s not already available,They need hybrid Helicopters to provide back up power, so you use your base turbine engine/power source as necessary in normal fight ,but let’s say there’s a failure instead of loosing all power and then crashing maybe ,you have a small electric power plant which can be switch to or comes on automatically and it provides a stable power source for up to 5-10 mins of flight to allow landing or avoiding obstacles..they should also ban flying in weather conditions you can’t see in ,even if you have radar unless it’s certain types which provide protection beyond just showing other vehicles flying ,as well as a clear indication of direction ,if they had a reg which would make it necessary to have red ,yellow and green arrows in the cab instead of just gauges which pilots don’t always trust when they become lost ,or confused, seeing the arrow change color and direction might give them a secondary indicator of direction in fog or at night etc…
Jason has created a true design masterpiece with the HX50. It would have been a far better watch with just him talking through the journey of the HX50 rather than having those two numpties always talking over him and disturbing the flow of the video.
Mischa talks too much, and "yep, yep", and over Jason. I get it he is part of the "team," but let the poor man talk, but it is distracting to say the least to hear that repeatedly!! Cool helicopter, planning on seeing how this pans out, and maybe future purchase.
HI there.. Can I ask a dumb question.. Ive seen so many helicopters get into problems when the rear rotor fails.. Is there a reason you can direct the jet engine exhaust down the tail and using the exhaust as thrust to stop the helicopter going in circles ? Sorry, if its truly dumb.
The lighting on this video is horrible. This would have presented better in the sunlight. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL HELI! It deserves a proper introduction outside with a full flight review. Please!
Never heard of this company before with my last name and what do you know, the main guy has my first name as well! Do I get a discount for having the same name???? I have dreamed of flying a Helicopter for many years, been dreaming of having the Mosquito die for a few years now but then I see this beautiful piece of work and just wow! Awesome job Mr. Hill
Absolutely inspiring, I’ve followed along the whole process and I am so impressed and taken back by it all. Mr. Hill we will revisit this comment when I commission my very own HC50. You and the whole team are Legends!
This says a lot about govt. bureaucratic red tape. When I was a kid it was always “we’ve used aviation grade parts in our new automobile design”. And now it’s,”we’ve used the high tech automotive industry elements in this Helicoptor” 😂😂😂 hopefully the autopilot is better than Tesla’s “smash into the freeway divider” system
You should have a direct shaft without angles. The engine should be arranged to work at the angle of direct input in the rotor head. Less gears, less spof's more reliability. My 2 cents
Some years ago I worked for Robinson helicopter and I told Frank Robinson why doesn't he put a parachute that shoots upward in the center of the rotor and away from the blades to save lives and he told me no because the strings or whatever we get caught inside the rotors blades but I think he's wrong because I've seen a ball on the center of that rotor used for some technical stuff and if that could be mounted there they can mount a parachute that shoots straight up so it doesn't get caught in the rotor blades and save people's lives that's just something I thought about many years I know it would work
well done you , hope your the next Dyson of helicopters, its great to see something British much needed just dont sell out to the Chinese. we need more people like you in the UK.
To Jason and his team, you are all to be congratulated with creating not only a beautiful aircraft but an aircraft that will definitely revolutionise general avaiation for decades to come. I was going to purchase a HX50 unfortunately my left eye had a stroke, and under CASA regulations, I'm now unable to obtain a helicopter pilots licence, so my dream of personal flight has ended. But my obsession with this journey will not waiver, and i will follow it right up to first flight and also the first delivery to Australia if and where the authorised dealer will be based as I personally want to see the wonderfull machine up close and personal. I'm not going to end with good luck because Hill Hellicopers have definitely got this, and shortly, they will be as recognised as a force to be reckoned with. Congratulations, and may the sales reach stratospheric heights. You all deserve the best success going forward.
