People talk a lot about how awesome these free videos are from the perspective of trying to learn chess (and they’re totally right), but I also want to shout out Danya for how relaxing they are!! I’m not studying these games, but they’ve totally changed my nightly routine and help me so much to calm down and fall asleep, thanks Danya!!!
me too! i see danyas videos during night where i can focus better and learn, the best about his videos is that is not a normal chess class, is also entertaining, you don't get bored, danya explains in detail each move and its value, is just amazing! Danya is an amazing teacher and instructor.
In contrast to this, don't try winding down and going to sleep with an Alex Banzea video unless you want to be startled awake thinking you just had a heart attack when he randomly screams into the mic
I love you Danya. I’m going through such a touch patch in life and I’m always sad everyday. I can sometimes escape with chess if I’m watching your videos. Please never stop speedruns no matter what. Thank You
I'm there with u buddy. Relaxing and engaging chess content from Danya helps me fall asleep when there is nothing that can help me calm down and sleep peacefully.
Danya one suggestion as a regular viewer of your content, could you maybe do playlists for specific openings? I have gotten into sicilian just by watching your speedrun games and it'd be nice to have them all in a playlist because the re-watch value is tremendous since I can't remember shit
One great way to memorise the moves, although pretty ambitious one, would be to open a chess board and make all the mentioned moves yourself as you follow the video, up until a point when you can literally play the whole game all by yourself.
I just began playing chess three months ago at the ripe age of 36. I wanted to thank you because you have have no clue how much you have helped me through your videos as well as the course I bought from you. Really well done and I actually really like the structure of it, with the downloadable pgn files! It’s beyond measure compared to other courses I have. Really well done! Thank you Danya.
These series are LEGENDARY!! Playing games online is not enough to get better or much more than 1600, then if you add tactics exercises you can get around 1900 but then you start to play against people that knows the main opening lines, some of them in some depth, and you get outplayed badly. At that point these content explaining openings, ramifications, general concepts and tactics are really needed and can push you 200 or so more points. After that I guess you need a personal coach, but for the vast majority of us this is exactly what we need 👍👍👍
36:43 Wow, props to Daniel for taking the time to look up the proper pronunciation of "Scheveningen"! Or at least as close as us non-Dutch speakers can get. (SKAY-ven-ing-en, rather than she-VEN-in-gen)
Danya. Thank u for another instructional video. Just by understanding some positional chess ideas you taught and simply playing principled chess, I rose from 1500 to 1700. I know it might not be as huge of an increase as some of your other viewers, but it is still a substantial increase for me personally. Ty
I am so greatful for such amazing instructive games, such positional and tactical mastery is so beautiful to watch and learn about, this is why I love chess, the limitless ways to evolve the positions to create such a sharp tense game. Much love for helping me get from beginner to 1500 in about 6 months man ❤
This community is amazing. Only praise and gratitude. You deserve that danya! Extra thanks for this video because it is what i play as black. As white i play the jobava and while I'm not that good yet it has been more fun than the 4 knights. Sorry for the wall. Best wishes!
About a4: there's a typical idea in the main line of the Schmidt Benoni where white also plays Bb5+ and then plays a4 to prevent b5 prophylactically because a6 comes with tempo
Love your videos Danya! Not only they're great for learning, they're also a perfect watch for winding down. I'm afraid to say that the audio is clipping quite a bit, it's not distracting but it is noticeable on my headphones. Figured I should let you know!! Keep doing what you do, best educational Chess content on RU-vid by a long shot.
I didn't want to say this before to not devalue your work, but I'm gonna say it now since other people mentioned it. I watch your videos to sleep and I'm really happy that you no longer thank subs with loud voice. Thanks!
Thanks for all the videos. I learn so much from each video they are really amazing. BTW if you want to pronounce "scheveningen" without going full Dutch, it's much closer to just say "skay ven ing en" (which isn't too hard to say at all). Then if you want to do the full thing you would replace the k sound with the "ch" sound from the Scottish word "loch".
At 21:00 Nxe4 almost works, because white can only take back with the knight and then black has d5 fork, except that white can then take the f6 bishop with check (Nxf6+) and save himself.
Small remark: Scheveningen is not pronounced like shenanigan. It's more like SKHAY-vuh-ning-en, with the main stress on the first syllable and ch being pronounced like the Russian x.
51:45 paused the video. I think the winning move for white is actually c3. either you deflect the bishop off the diagonal allowing knight e7, or else any square on the same diagonal it can be captured
Fascinating lines there after Bb4! I was thinking white would want to deflect the bishop off it's diagonal so white could play Ne7, but missed the idea of intercepting the queen to allow the mating attack. Have to remember that problem like idea.
The B knight is the MVP. Maneuver Nb8-d7-c5-d7-b8-d7-f6-d7-f8-e6-f4-e2-c3xb1 is brilliant. Also, a very interesting structure with black bishop on a8, black knight on b8 and white bishop on c8.
Just by how depleted one feels after even just 10 minutes into the video, we can understand how deep is the analysis and the study of this positions by the GM. Ed: I managed to see the entire hour! The tactics shown for white are crazy in this game!
Yooo Danya, if possible could you do a game playing the English opening so I can see how you play it as a 2300 player. Would be interesting to see your take on the opening.
That move Ne6 at 35:30 is brutal, as well as Nf4 that followed. If a 2100 rated player played those moves against me I would report him for cheating haha
This is a speed run he starts from 500 elo all the way to 2300 elo this is educational purpose only for viewers so we can get a GM opinion in these types of games not everyone is a GM these are only lessons
hey danya, if you're playing openings you play yourself now at this level, can you play a spanish next instead of the four knights scotch? thank you for the videos!
I’ve had similar audio issues when recording at a different frequency than what was set in the project file of my editing software. Also this type of issue is typical for lose connections/bad xlr cable
