plumberparts i am replacing my vented cylinder with an unvented. I will obviously have to get rid of the cold water storage cistern but I want to keep the F&E tank. Can’t I just connect the flow and return to the new unvented cylinder. Unvented cylinders still has a coil to heat the water just like a vented cylinder. So I don’t see the problem in keeping the f&e tank

Excellent video; I especially enjoyed the part where you spoke about installing the tank in such a way that future services could be easy - that shows excellent best practice and something which is beneficial for consumers to note when choosing someone to do the initial install!

During my training I've been out to jobs with cylinders being installed. Being new to thisI've been left with so many questions. First choice on RU-vid today was this video. You explain everything so well and this has given me a much better understanding of this setup. Thank you. You put great thought and care into each of your videos 👍

I absolutely love this video, I purchased my first home in 2019 which came with a gravity tank like the one pictured at the start of this video and I'm planning to replace it with an unvented cylinder under recommendation from my plumber. When spending that sort of money I wanted to know more about what I was buying and your videos have been ace at educating even someone with no plumbing experience. Thanks for the amazing content!

What an excellent job of fitting that cylinder. Wish more people took care about the pipework with these things. Really like the tip of putting the combination control valve just above the top of the cylinder. I have had issues in the past with hot water back syphoning out of the cold inlet when for example changing bathroom suites or taps.

Yes James, sick vids as always mate. I've started a part time plumbing NVQ so always watching your vids and have learned so much from you so thank you. Would it be possible, when you have time and fit your next cylinder and go through the process of fitting the pipes that you doit without speeding up the video and explain what your doing step by step please. I can imagine it might not interest a lot of peeps but i'll be banging one off lol. Be ready to get down plumb centre and find a plumber to take me on soon as well. Big Respect Braappp!!!!

This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ru-vid.comUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

I bought this water heater ru-vid.comUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 for use in my bus conversion. I installed it under my kitchen sink and it is fed by a high efficiency on-demand LP water heater. It is both a backup hot water source as well as a water saving device since we have hot water on demand rather than having to wait for the gas on demand water heater to finish its ignition cycle. I decided on this water heater due to the fact that it only draws 1300watts when it's ON instead of the 1500 watts that most Water heaters this size draw. In an RV a couple hundred watts can be a big deal. With very low standby losses, I don't have to worry about excessive power consumption. When propane is not available for our gas water heater, in conjunction with our low flow shower head there is enough hot water available to shower, albeit we won't be taking "hotel showers." Also very happy with the recovery rate of this water heater. Granted, it is quite small, but it does exactly what we need it to do.

Some things I see in different countries amases me so greatly. . . I never seen this kind of unvented or vented kind of water heater, nor did I ever seen or had to install a temperature regulator valve. . . it is really interesting, would love to go and try to install one like you have there in Britain. . . Here in Lithuania all we have are white cylinders, either hanging on a wall or set on feet, immersion or indirect. Great job James, always clean and organised, and that shiny copper paste, I need to find that to buy back here in Lithuania. . . :D

6.11.20. UK.Plumberparts.Utube. No.no.no. This character needs to sit down and decide what he is trtying to convey. He seems to be attempting to live in the world of a wkg class pluimber and media celebrity. If his intention is to teach novices then he needs to stop talking likie a machinr gun (but see note at bottom). If you do that to kids you will cause them MH issues. He should also stop trying to act as a clown. Plumbing, like automobile services is now a serious business. I would have thought that "Grahams" plumbing merchants would have more sense but not so. We are at moment starting to change a 40 gall vented direct and indirect cyl which the horroific firm Sunuser Leeds (of course) installed wrong They failed to put washers on the eight ins and outs so they leaked but could not be seen cos of the jacket. The woman owner said this- "The Govt Prevent Us From Allowing you To Talk to any Engineer Here" The local MP wont reply but thats usual cos 26 wont reply re 30.000 avoid deaths in UK. Now will 24 Universities incl Leeds. We now wish to fit smaller cyl cos the one we have is far too big. The max hot water is about 20 Galls on a bad day. We are having great difficulty finding a cyl which would minimise the pipe disturbance. We reckon a size of about 26 to 32 galls but the height needs to be kept same as old if poss. The Ins and outs will number six but there are three hot out spigots. One on the dome and two at the side. The one on the dome (expansion pipe) is siamesed later on so the total services fed is in fact four all 22mm. The two side outletts have a curious vertical dog leg arrangement which is not just to align the pipes with holes in wall. whats that for? Is it some sort of protection for the element. By the way s -user glued the two elements in and we had to get the tank area almost red hot to shift one. even then it took a 3ft scaffold plole on the tool. To get the other elkement out we hade to cut hole in wall cos at the time we did not envisage change of tank. Who made these tanks? Thats not all, we cannot find any build trade who are not con artists. One firm who came here is putting an amount ast bottom of invoice thast they say is a bribe. We are living in poverty having been tricked by two teachers who doid cover ups re this house. One of them an "engineer". Hi, i have an unvented hot water system (New Build 2010 house) Its the Range TRIBUNE HE Duplex Stainless cycinder, and there is a 3 bar Caleffi 1567 plus a Zilmet pressure vessel. My issue is, its a 5 bed house 3 flors, when my son or daughter showers our top bedroom has very little pressure. Any ideas what could be causing this? No pressure issues anywhere else. Appreciate any advice before i head to a plumber. Cheers Steve, (Oh Love your vids and content. Keep it up)

Why didn't you mount the expansion vessel at the back of the cupboard at high level so there's more room for the occupier to store and air clothes? It looks as though they are tight for space anyway!

Why didn’t you use Aladdin easy fit isolation valve to mains feed

What size hot water cylinder would I need for a 310/380 litre bath? The cylinder will only be servicing the bath, all the other hot water outlets will be run off the combi boiler. Thanks if anybody can help.

Great video matey! Couldn't really see how you routed the D1, but I assume the old CW header had an overflow somewhere? Can you also provide a link to the Kingspan cylinder? Cheers dude.

Was there a reason you opted for the Kingspan cylinder? www.kingspan.com/gb/en-gb/products/hot-water-cylinders/unvented-hot-water-cylinders/ultrasteel-direct-cylinders#

You don’t use dielectric connectors on vessels?

if you like cleaning copper pipes then fine steel wool and liquid brasso is better.

Head/ attic storage tanks are redundant now in my opinion. If you have good main’s pressure . Perhaps a booster pump from hot water supply if you have low mains pressure ?

As the cylinder is in the middle of the property how did you take the blow pipe out of the property?

The original top tank would of had an overflow, most likely under floor

You’ve left a ticking time bomb on that cylinder by putting the 22mm lever valve on the hot outlet. Apart from that well explained install.

Thanks for your comment, but with the greatest respect, this is completely compliant. We have a high pressure relief valve. A high pressure and temperature relief valve and an expansion vessel. All within regs and MI’s.

Hi Plumber Part, just a question, why do you have a lever isolation valve on the hot water drain off? We have always been told that it is a wrong way of installing an unvented cylinder. If someone turned it off and the pressure builds up it might explode we are told. Please could you advise. regards and well done!

That valve is just like a tap, just closer to the cylinder. You shouldn't have a valve on a gravity (vented) system as it would block the vent/expansion pipe, which would be dangerous.
