I'm glad she realized so quickly that adopting another precious animal is never a dishonor to the one you lost. On the contrary, it's honoring them by saving another animal in their name. You don't give up love you had for your previous dog to give to the new one. Rather, your heart just grows. Thank you for giving him a wonderful new family to call his own.

Benji’s mom here- Just to clarify since I’ve seen some comments about this, I understand people cross the street for a number of reasons that are not always breed specific! My neighbor adopted a dog from a puppy mill who was used for breeding after 2 foster homes didn't work. She works early 6 to 11 am and the second she leaves for work he begins nonstop howling and crying because he thinks he's being abandoned again. I've always hated breeders!

They are more grateful for being rescued, once they get to know you. I have a pom that was vicious as hell because of her background, but after some months she began to see that she was loved, and all the past went away, and she found freedom and trust. Previous piece of evil had beaten her, locked her in a room, fed her when they felt like it, and a lot more. She is a pom and we have a hilarious time

*Dog walker savaged to death by own rescue giant pit bull she 'thought she could save'* A dog walker who was mauled to death while walking a pack of eight pets was killed by her own pit bull, it has emerged. Natasha Johnston, 28, suffered catastrophic injuries from "multiple penetrating bites" in the attack near Caterham, Surrey, back in January. Previously, it was reported that the dog responsible was an American Bully XL, and the animal was destroyed following an investigation. However, veterinary surgeon Dr Alison Robson - an expert court witness who examined Natasha's cause of death - has revealed that Stan was a pit bull, which is one of four breeds banned in the UK by the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991. In November last year, Natasha reportedly rescued Stan from owners who planned to put him down after he bit one of their children. He also bit Natasha twice in the days leading up to the tragic attack, a friend said. Her pal Delia Lewis, whose own dog was among the pack that day, told the Daily Mail: "She felt Stan hadn't been trained and with the correct care and affection he'd be fine. Her boyfriend said it wasn't a good idea and, having seen how troublesome Stan could be, my response was, 'Are you sure?' "But she loved dogs with a passion and she was still grieving for her black staffy, Missy, who had recently died, so she didn't take our advice." According to the newspaper, Natasha sent a picture of herself with Stan four days after rescuing him. The image shows her cuddled up to the creature while wearing a fluffy onesie, as he snoozes in her arms. She sent it alongside the message: "Back to the sofa! I was ordered back to bed for a while!"

*Family adopted rescue dog two weeks ago, and then it mauled its owner to death* Joe Varanese had been helping his mother back to her wheelchair after using the restroom when the family’s new rescue dog became upset. Carolyn Varanese was facing her son, her arms draped over him, when Smokey, believed to be a pit bull or pit bull mix, attacked the woman’s ankle. Carolyn Varanese crumpled to the floor as Smokey went for her jugular. On August 7, 2020, Joe Varanese adopted a pit bull reportedly picked up by Miami Dade Animal Services as an injured stray on June 16 in the city of Miami. Joe’s 84-year-old mother, Carolyn Varanese, let the pit bull, renamed Smokey, share her bed. Bitten multiple times on the head and upper body, Carolyn Varanese died there in the hallway, the 28th pit bull-inflicted fatality in the U.S. of 2020, and the 30th in the U.S. and Canada combined. A Miami Dade Animal Services spokesperson told reporters that Smokey, “did not display any aggression toward humans” during 52 days in the county shelter.

"Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask… To a poor and lonely stray I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name. I’d will the sad, scared dog shelter dog the place I had in my human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds. So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.” Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him. This is the only thing I can give… The love I left behind.” A dog’s last will and testament. Author, Unknown.

What a gorgeous boy he is, and how gently he takes the food from you. Thank you for giving him the love he so deserves and sharing your life with him. When I was younger I always adopted another dog as soon as they passed over the rainbow 🌈 bridge, but my last girl (was my soul dog) and I had to take time to grieve her loss, it wasn't until about 8 months later that I rang a breeder friend (poodles) he said he didn't have any dogs available that I wanted (didn't want another black or pure white) but he did have a white mini boy that he was going to breed with and he was out of my price range. I said I don't care what colour or how ever much but I wanted him. He took time to think about whether or not to sell him and 2 weeks later he called me and said that I could have him, and I'm so glad he did cos he is a very special boy. I must also point out that I did try to adopt a dog from shelters but none of them had any dogs that were cat friendly, which is why I bought a pure bred pup. I now have his mum as well and all my fur babies get along beautifully which is all I could have ever asked for.

Well hopefully the lady is over her guilt because it looks like she has her hands full. This is a gorgeous dog, so I would ignore anyone who crosses the street, let it go. Finally, that's a lovely Christmas cactus on the coffee table, it must be stunning when it's in bloom. OK, I'm done, thank you. 🧡

Hi!! Thank you so much for your compliments. My guilt is past ❤ and my Christmas cactus was propogated off of one that originally belonged to my great-grandfather- it has bloomed twice, I believe it’s dormant now, hoping for more blooms soon!

When you lose one that you have loved, go out and save another from being sad and lonely or perhaps euthanized. I started doing that years ago as I felt the dog I lost would want another dog to take their place and come into a good home.and help me. I had a gold retriever who I know would have (and probably did) send another dog for me to love and keep me company.Dogs can be incredibly gracious that way. Glad Benji is in a good place, there are so many that need homes now.

Nothing more heartwarming than a Pitt!!! I have 2 and have always had the Pitt breed. People don’t understand how amazing they are. These people that look at them as vicious beast have no idea. I’ve been bit and chased by little dogs, never a Pitt and I do Heating and Air. My boy Leo looks so much like your little Angel. And I know all about hogging the bed both my want to sleep on the pillows. Lol 😊

She was the biggest cuddle buddy, She was trained when out for a walk to sit as people approached and not move and yet people would still cross to the other side of the street.
