Watching this video now gives me sleep paralysis. This is Rowell Jackman Hall at Victoria College at the University of Toronto. I just completed my first year so if you have any questions let me know!!
This was so useful for me because I have applied there for 2019! I will be going on a tour soon of the university! Very excited for my future! Great video!!
AHHH this is awesome, thank you!!!!!! I'm going into first year at Innis and its so hard to find dorm tours for any U of T college, so this is dope!!! :)
Sick video! I lived at Parkside Student Residence, 15 minutes away from UofT and absolutely loved the fact that all my amenities and utilities were included and had an all you can eat dine in meal plan. I SAVED so much time and could focus on school. My roommate and I got to select each other which was the best part and now we're boys for life!!!
Can you do more videos on Life at Victoria College? How you got into Victoria, and the requiremens needed. There's really not much video in it. Would love to hear from you!
This was super helpful!!! Currently getting ready to move into an RJ double as a freshman :) I was wondering, do you have a mattress topper/would you say it’s important to have one? If so do you know what size would work? Thanks again!!! 😊😊
Well I can sleep on anything and anywhere so my opinion may be impartial! But - i had a cheap one from ikea and it did the job perfectly! Although, I had friends get slightly more expensive ones from bed bath and beyond and they said it made ALL the difference!!! ALSO, good luck first year!!!
The colleges each have websites that kind of explain what subjects they focus on, but genuinely, each college has students from every program! Vic had so many students from engineering, life sciences, architecture, english, etc.
Elim YEUNG you just have to find a study pattern that works best for you!!! Its really important to manage your time well!! One tip i have is instead of setting aside time to study, set aside time for your friends and yourself so those other time when you are doing nothing you can work!!
I'm only a sophmore in high school but I think that uoft sounds amazing!! I live in America and this might be a stupid question but would I need to somehow become a Canadian citizen before applying to uoft or anything like that? Just wondering
The best thing to do would to be to talk to your guidance councillor! You don't need to be a citizen but you will need other things such as a student visa, etc.
Hey! prospective U of T student here. I was wondering, how did you apply for the Rowell Jackman Hall at Victoria College? Do you get placed there by luck after applying to Victoria College, or can you apply to RJH specifically?
Hey! I would like to go at University of Toronto next year and this video answer almost all the questions about the dorm room so thank you! Knowing that I'm a French students, do you think integration would be complicated or not in the University and in the dorm room?
hey! i lived at vic last year but im moving back into rj for 2nd year. not sure if you had seen your roommates' single rooms, but do they also come with one of those bookshelves? (also thanks for the blessing on incoming first years, you're right that there were no good pictures of the dorms!and it was intimidating!)
Alison S. Yes!!! I believe they do come w/ bookshelves!! And no problem I just wanted to try and make it less difficult for other students especially those moving from SUPER far away!!
omg this is actually so helpful! I'm going to first year engineering and will be living at Vic but have no idea what any of the dorm rooms look like. Do we have our own washrooms? or are we sharing with everyone else? thanks again for this dope dorm tour!!! :)))
irecy ihernt no problem at all!! So glad I could help! Depending on which residence you are in you may or may not have your own washroom to share with roommates! In Burwash some bathrooms are shared, some aren’t! In RJ you’re sweet will have at least 2 bathrooms for just you and your roommates, and in Ansley and MAH I believe you share with the whole floor, but I’m not 100% sure! Hope this helps!
hey bestie✨ i know you probably won’t see this, but i’m an incoming freshmen moving into a double room at rj this friday! was wondering if you (or anyone else here) could help me answer a few questions? can you find out who your roommates are, or do you meet them there? are you allowed to have friends over to your dorm for the night? and what are some of the pros/cons to living at rj? thanks for the video, it was so helpful🤍☺️
Do you recommend Old Vic for people like me xd that prefer to have a share bathroom with one or three person rather than with a whole floor? And do Victoria College have scholarships or other opportunities?
I want to go here but I’m American. What is the acceptance rate? And how much does it cost? Thanks if you can tell me. Love ur dorm btw it’s so cute and ur makeup is beautiful.
Damon Salvatore International tuition is around $51,000 CAD per year, and I don’t think they publish acceptance rates but I think the admissions grade average was around 88% in 2016. Engineering programs tend to have higher averages and the arts lower. Hope that helps. All this information is available online through the u of t website and a lot of info can be found on the u of t subreddit also.
Hi! I'm currently applying for u of t; do you think vic college is the best of them all? I'm considering 1. dorms 2. food 3.college aesthetics/architecture. I'm not sure when you'll back to this comment, but thanks in advance!
How does UofT compare in terms of social scenes to other unis? I heard Queens has a hectic party scene, I’m not looking for crazy huge street parties (which is the impression I’ve gotten from queens) more like house parties and getting involved in the social scene without it being completely trashy half naked boat parties
The social scene at uoft is pretty decent!! There are frats/sororities, pretty decent res scene, + so many clubs for literally anything your into, like we literally have a Quidditch team
There is a room with a bunch of washing machines and dryers in each building! You pay to fill your card in the main office and use it to access the machines!
Hii, I will totally consider doing this in the future!!! Just keep in mind I am Canadian and applying domestically vs internationally is totally different!!!
Are there any towels? I know it is a little bit strange question, but I m going to come there to study at summer holidays and I really don’t want to put a huge towel in my suitcase
Its not strange at all! There are actually no towels, but there are stores near by where you can get towels such as Bed Bath and Beyond and Winners/Homesense!!
Hello Isabelle, I’m currently considering U of T for my degree. Are you an international student? Please tell me how much you pay for the accommodation per month. I’m not getting clear answers elsewhere. Please help me! 🙏
if you want to make friends, you really need to go look for them and make an effort for it. same with the social life, there isnt much of a social life at face value cause uoft is not really known as a very big 'party school' but you can definitely find it
Do you have a job? And do you find it difficult to handle having a job + studying + a social life? As well as, is it expensive to live in a dorm. (Sorry, I'm really concerned about costs.)
I did not have a job in my first year! Costs vary per dorm and depending on if you are an international or Canadian student! The best thing to do would be look on the website for specific colleges, and talk to your guidance councillor! A great option for a job would be a job within the school as they will accommodate to your school schedule! You can work in dining halls, on campus cafes, as a tour guide, etc. Hope this helped!
Kristia Deng 10 minutes is spot on! I would ball park for 15 depending on what building your class is in such as Daniels! Quickest way to campus is walking through Queens park (or around it since it is currently under construction)! Hope this is helpful!
Hey so I realized after this that UTM had some arts programs and we are also attached to George Brown which has more visual studies programs!!! Hope this is helpful info!!!
Hi, I got accepted in ifp program of engineering at new college Wanted to know how is new college and any cons of u oft to be considered. Thanks alot amazing video.
Am coming this fall and my parents and sis are gonna follow suit in a couple of months, immigrate actually..sooo, i hope that it'll be nicee there🙄. I'll be living on campus until they are here and then we'll rent a house
Costs vary based on very many different things!!! Such as if you are in a double, single, or triple bedroom! They also vary between domestic and international students as well as being more/less expensive depending on what building you live in! Check the Victoria College website from more info!!! (I deleted the original comment bc i wasn’t done writing it and didn’t realize u could edit them LOL MY BAD)
Grace Cho if you know someone you can request to room with them and will very much likely get it but besides that i don’t believe you can pick (at least i didnt get to I would inquire with your residence directly)
Awesome tour! I got my own place too! I uploaded an empty apartment tour video :) Check it out and let me know what you think? Spoiler alert: My place is not as awesome as yours :P
