UP and CN Power Compilation with 44 Engines at West Chicago, Illinois on 6-2-2013

44 locos in less than five minutes as the Canadian National and Union Pacific rolled past the camera for about 5 hours. 44 and a 1/2 if you count the blocked Metra engine. I think I've got that count correct. You'll see two engines twice as the "Will County" coal train shoves back westbound through the West Chicago yard to line up on the CN main tracks for a later run south.
The CN line (Leithton sub) was dead for about three hours. Very strange.
Watch for some of the the world's shortest coal trains courtesy of digital editing. And the strange case of the disappearing MoW guys. Abducted by aliens perhaps?
And what's different from my previous compilation videos from here? No horns now on the CN. New signs have just been posted... "No Train Horn." So except when there are MoW personnel around it was a quiet zone. Dang!

It may be a quiet zone now, but the sound of the train hitting the diamond is sweet music. Superb editing by the way, nice, smooth and seamless transition. These compilations are simply awesome Bill. Nice work!

If you mean the one that went again in the reverse direction, it was to shove onto the CN tracks through the West Chicago connector. Bill

Nice catch, and that smaller yard locomotive, that was special. Being at the right location does pay off at times!

Lots of great catches there, but why did one train pass twice? Also, I wish it worked that way in real like, it reminds of that scene in the Blues Brothers where the trains keep rolling past the window.

I despise quiet zones. Unless it is an ultra hot spot for amount of trains, I cross that place off my list of places to visit.

Remember that I edit out most of the full train. Thanks for watching. Bill

Great Video! Is the CN crossing now a quiet zone, because I didn't hear any of the engineers sounding their horns.

Nice Catches and I have a question, whats the volume of the chicago sub? And is the majority of the power on it GE? It looks like a good line to railfan

Thanks. I assume that you are referring to the UP Geneva sub shown here. Pretty busy. But I don't know the average amount. No fast trains generally. Bill

That's different to see that many coal trains, most I've seem in a day was 3. Also the first time I've a UP coal train with 2 DPU's.

Slick! I dig it! If you're up for it, throwing the time on the screen would be good to get a sense of how the trains bunched up. Great sound by the way, hard to beat the clang of the diamonds. Keep 'em coming!!! Coxy
