Living in Australia I find it hard to get my head around the layout of the area, however this fantastic vision puts it all into perspective. It is by far the best video of the ‘ loop ‘ I have ever seen. It sure sets the bar for other videographers.
Well you’ve done again! This one sets the gold standard for Tehachapi videos. The loop never disappoints but I thought your coverage of the Caliente horseshoe curve was very special. Your efforts to shoot both winter/spring green, as well as summer brown, were highlighted by your choice of low sun angles and long shadows-sign of a real pro. Beautiful either way. You were blessed to have enough material to minimize the haze except for Mojave. Your complete coverage also included the agriculture fields and orchards east of BFL. They have great beauty of their own. Thanks for your outstanding efforts!
What a beautiful video. The music you hear is like watching a movie that makes you feel like it is ending, a little sad, yet a little happy for a future not known what is ahead. Great job again. Thank you for your hard work and sharing this with us.
I can’t get enough of your videos. They are on repeat in my train room while I work on my layout. I sometimes can’t get anything done because I’m watching your videos. Excellent. Thank you for the time and effort you put into making these. Superb!!!!!
didn't want to do that at first but license agreements on the music are such an ordeal that these videos likely will have to be removed again so please download them if you like them for your personal use now! :)
Fantastic work - your videos are just sensational. Also reminds me why I love Tehachapi so much. Sadly, I haven't been since 2009. It was great to see some favourite spots from new angles. That whole sequence around Caliente - what a magnificent bit of railroad engineering that climb up to Bealville is. I know folk tend to rave about the loop, but for me the Caliente - Cliff part is the best part of the railroad, perhaps because he fact that its the most remote from CA58 helps. I can't quite get over how spoiled Tunnel 10 area is now though I understand it makes the railroad more efficient .
Just incredible all around! I don't believe I've ever seen so much green out that way. Really puts in perspective all the rain this year! Assuming it was this year!
I can’t even imagine the amount of work to do the footage. The drone work. The editing. The music cut ins. Not to mention getting to these locations. A work of art sir
thanks again!!! :). be sure to download this if you really like it. License issues don't allow me to keep the videos posted indefinitely unfortunately.
I have to say that is the Best Videography I ever watched WELL DONE ! ! I would prefer to listen to the Engine work rather than listen to music.. Other than that it is perfection at its Best ! ..CHEERS
Another totally awesome video. A side of the Tehachapi loop that I had never seen. You make a side of railroading so peaceful and relaxing. Thank You very much Please keep them coming.
Another fantastic piece of work! Im a retired engineer off the NS RR, that was the west end of the old New York Central Chicago division when I hired out in 1967 we had a hill that gave us a bit of trouble now and then! But this just leaves me speechless! Ho yeah, we knew these mountains passes, but now get to see them persented like this, outstanding🏁 Thanks for sharing🏁
Con estos reportajes maravillosos, ustedes nos hacen amar el ferrocarril. Sigan así, mostrándonos tanta belleza. Muchas felicidades. Un abrazo fuerte desde España.
A big thumbs up, the best Tehachapi video I've ever seen! Obviously professionally photographed, edited, and colorized. Btw, where did you come up with the name Acme, maybe something to do with a cartoon series...
Amazing shots, tehachapi pass has always been one of my favorite locations and I got to visit it for the first time last by visiting the tehachapi loop, I am however from texas so I hope to visit the pass again one day
A JOB WELL DONE! Enjoyed not having narration. Just letting the scenery and sounds of the engines do the "talking"! Will be looking forward to viewing more of you Vlogs.
Welcome back! Hope to see more of the videos again soon. Would love an update on what happened. Hope monetization with RU-vid isn’t the main problem. Make sure to let us know if you ever get to selling vids on physical media or a Patreon page or whatever to keep it going.
I will take a while to absorb this work of art in little delicious bites. It is so much more than a Foamer short. Nice little Easter Egg scene in the half of this film. My best count of scurrying cattle was 18-20. AND I have now decided the look of my Model RR backdrop!
Best in the business guys. Another great piece of work. I wonder if there is anything scenic between Yermo and Las Vegas on the old Salt lake Route that you could do sometime...
Another Home Run from Acme! You are definitely batting 1000 with these videos. More top notch drone work, but I have to say your ground-level runbys are taking my breath away! That dusk approach shot of BNSF 6939 passing the Martin-Marietta Cement Plant outlined by the windfarm on the hills in the distance at 47:30 was just stunning! I can smell the desert highlands and the diesel fumes even as I write this. And the going-away silohette immediately following was breath-taking. LOVE IT! And that UP passing shot at 50:30 - wow wow wow!! I hope someday you can make a video documentary of this quality of a current-day steam program - that would be something to see. (A 4014/844 excursion maybe? Or ATSF 2926 - it just did a captive test run on a siding in Albuquerque on 6 May; maybe it will be out on the main sometime soon. Hint, hint…🙂) Regardless, I cannot wait for the next video, whatever that might be. Keep up the great work - you definitely are the top of railroading videos on the internet!
Thanks!!!!!! I’d love to do some big steam but main issue is courtesy and safety. We are very careful not to run drones where there are other railfans around. 1. Drones are very noisey and we don’t want to upset others who are making an effort to be trackside as well. 2. Too many railfans make shooting locations too “fake” looking. So we tend to skip steam entirely. We know we would get a gazillion more hits and views but the product would just not be something we would want. Maybe we can do a secret steam charter someday! ;)
@@AcmeCinematography Totally get that and I agree with you - I hadn't thought about the presence of railfans and agree it would detract from their experience and would greatly impact the drama of your videos. In fact, your respect for the railroad and the hard working crews of these trains (for example staying a respectful distance from the lead unit in a consist with your drones so the crew isn't spooked or stressed) shows in every one of your releases and is one of the reasons I love your stuff so much. Gonna still wish for a secret steam charter though!
well you saw the Western Maryland so it is possible but they typically don't have that many people chasing.. the Big Boy can have a caravan of 20 or more cars chasing her around and the shots would be just rather unphotographable from our perspective.. we really like isolation and not being around other photographers mainly from a safety issue...and as noted courtesy. I'd just not be happy setting up for a great shot and as the engine approaches a drone flys overhead noisily... gotta respect every person so we just tend to stay where we won't be bothering others!
Acme's drone footage is 5-star quality, with a fantastic view of the line from Bakersfield to Mohave. Excellent job! Was this footage done before the heavy rain in December?
@acme cinematography: is it possible that you deleted an older video, where the train (i think CSX) starts in a city and amazing grace is played? that was my absolute favourite... any chance for a re-upload?
one of your best efforts to date. I was under the impression that since the Southern Pacific built this line which UP acquired when it purchased the combined SP & Denver Rio Grande RR, that the line is UP’s, but BNSF has trackage rights over it as part of the merger agreement that the federal regulators imposed as a condition of allowing the SP & UP merger?
The AT&SF and SP crafted an agreement over 100 years ago. Santa Fe obtained operating rights using their crews while SP retained all ownership. In the early 1980's there was a track on the east (SP north) side of the Mojave Depot referred to as the A and P (Atlantic and Pacific) main. The UP acquisition of the SP -D&RGW was without noticeable effect, save the disappearance of power painted red and gray. John Signor's book on Tehachapi is an exhaustive authority on the railroad.
Is there any way to record good audio from a drone yet? The pacing of the DP at 36:43 must have sounded incredible from the drone. Any plans to do the Feather River canyon? I'm a BNSF Stockton engineer and run up the Canyon sub to Keddie a lot. Would love to see your drones out there some day!
Hi Ian! Unfortunately can’t record from a drone due to the noise of the propellers. I suspect in 5 years technology may allow recording but wind noise would make it difficult. But they are working on that ! We would love to do Feather River!!!
