Kumoricon 2019 - Fan Fiction Finalist
I'm proud to share my fifth Otaku Lounge Productions video, Up in Smoke, which I started a year ago. It began as an exploration of trauma from nearly a decade ago, and then became a vent of sorts when I faced multiple deaths earlier this year. Everyone copes with trauma differently, myself included. Black backgrounds represent isolation. Even the colored scenes with live action backgrounds are muted, with the characters occupying small corners of the screen (isolation in spite of company). I'm proud of the result, and grateful that it helped me navigate my own experiences. You never know what someone else is going through, or what they've overcome, and I hope this video brings comfort to those who need it.
