In an Interview Abhishek Bachchan said that to him Govinda is one of the greatest actors and it's sad that foreigners will never understand his genius unless they are aware of our culture.
To understand how versatile Govinda is you should first watch Coolie No.1 and then watch a movie named Shikari where he plays the negative lead and compare the two.....He probably was the finest commercial actor in the terrible 80's era .....He was sadly overshadowed by the likes of Mithun Chakraborty Rishi Kapoor Jeetendra etc..He got all the success in the early to late 90's but by then Khans were already introduced and they grabbed the biggest banners in India......Govinda was super successful in making cheesy Comedies look real good cos of his sheer Comedic brilliance .....The perfect portrayal of slapstick or clowning in every sense even into his dancing numbers....He is a far superior dancer than what he portrayed on screen mostly ......He puts a young Katrina to Shame in Partner by his sheer dancing skills.....But the man never really got a good director or a decent script ever ..like ever.....I hope he makes a comeback at this day and age to prove his worth on OTT platforms .
finally you guys understood Govinda. He does not dance in steps but its in his blood, every part of his body dances including his smile, eyes, eyebrows, every facial expression.
No you are wrong korbin.. Govinda is known for his acting too. But yes he is king of comedy and dance no one close to him .. but he can make you cry too. He is simply regarded as complete Entertainer.
That little guy is Omkar Kapoor. He was a very popular child actor. He was also my sister's classmate in college. He had a couple of movies as an adult but I guess his career never took off.
Govinda is one of the very few complete actors of Bollywood. You people always wear a smile while reacting to his songs but believe me he is equally good at making people shade tears in his emotional scenes. Once Dilip Kumar himself acknowledged Govinda as one of the best actor in hindi film industry.🙏🙏
@@ashishvaishya7721 yeah, it's famous all over india but banaras has paan as it's one of the speciality, that's why, like agra ka petha, mathura ka peda
I've been watching films for 25 years and can say with conviction that there has been nobody like Govinda. He was a dancer, a tremendous actor who could do brilliant comedy and was equally terrific in emotional and fight scenes too. He was a complete package.
On the contrary, govinda is actually known as one of the most versatile actors.. You probably don't known that bcoz u haven't seen him doing serious roles.. His movies in his early career were dramas or thrillers.. Yes his comedy is best but even there he has some high level acting skills.. As as dancer, well in bollywood we have a whole different criteria which is fondly call as govinda style dance.. His steps and expressions are totally different.. And that kid grows up to be an actor.. He is doing movies and web shows, although haven't seen any of his grown up work but he was very cute as a child artist..
Its such a great joy to watch Govinda's expressions when he dances. Such a great dancer but his expressions bring so much joy that you forget about his dancing.
Govinda is a legend but it sad to see he doesn't get that world level recognition because of cultural differences ... But trust me he is the best actor ... ❤️
I always believed that good comic actors are always very good actors but often get typecasted and underestimated. Comedy genre itself is very underrated. This applies even to Hollywood.
Govinda always reminds me of my childhood fun family movies , Always puts a smile on the face , and that's just so good and happy moments to remember forever.
What movie of Govinda to start with, tough question. As many in India consider him as the best actor ever. I wud say start with Coolie no. 1, Haseena Maan Jayegi or Partner. Do you research and choose one. Both entertainers with sum serious comic timing. And of course, keep your brain behind if you want to get entertained. Small price for few smiles. ☺️ And you have asked for recommendations before and have seen nothing. Time you change it.
Well you cannot say he is only known for his dancing. You watch some of films like Hatya, Shikari, Swarg, Shola and Sabnam, Khuddar, Hum were he acted with some serious roles. As per film director he is one of those actors who successfully complete his shot in just one take. There is no one in Indian cinema who can match Govinda as far as dancing is concerned. You can pick any one of his movies in the 90's you will Govinda at his best.
80s- to early 90s Govinda was more of drama/action hero whereas mid 90s to early 00s Govinda was just pure cheese and comedy. One of the Biggest and very bankable stars of Bollywood. Please also take a dip into Karisma's work- Fiza, Zubeidaa (also staring Manoj Bajpai), Shakti, Dil toh payal Hai and Raja Hindustani are some of her best.
Wow this reminds of my childhood Growing up in those days when these movies were releasing how excitement we used to feel.. how much we adored these actors but nowadays can’t say much.. We used to love the music of 90’s Can’t beat it..
Govinda was actually trained in classical dance that's why he has a good hang on various kinds of dance moves and expressions.... Though I don't know to what extent but I can recall that I read in some article/interview in newspaper once when I was a kid that he had some training in "Kathak" which is a traditional dance form from state U.P.
No,he is not trained dancer at all he never mentioned it he said he learned dance watching Mithun videos.. but yes he learned classical singing as his mother was classical singer.
Its not possible for an American to truly experience and comment on Cricket if they were not raised in that culture and vice versa for a Brit to truly understand Baseball. Only an Indian can truly appreciate what Govinda is and what he brought to Indian Cinema.
So so happy that you are picking Govinda's song. He was a dance superstart back in 90's. It was not easy for anyone back in those days to learn dance but Govinda was a natural dancer.
Govinda is known for both his dance and his acting, especially his comedy, which is farce, not high comedy. Start with BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN (1998). It's one of his best, and there's Big B in it, so that's a bonus for you guys.
@@Samreen_kaur_2428 Oh, absolutely. Contrary to popular belief, a well-done farce is meant to be relatable and believable; it's just heightened. I mentioned it here because Farce is a very specific sub-genre of Comedy, standing out the most from all other forms of Comedy.
Govinda has better songs. I love one of his songs with Karishma- "Mai paidal se jaa raha tha unhi Auto se aa rahi thi" from Hero No. 1. He comes a lot to reality shows nowadays. You guys should check out his videos from there. Govinda with female super gurus is a fun video. My favourite Govinda movie is Dulhe Raja. It is stupid fun movie.
Govinda is the best ever indian bollywood dancer....... Because he is only one whose step of dancing is According to music👌 Dance is not jimnastic in india first of all💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐 So he is the best popular actor here just not cinematography 😊 Marketing and popularity is different ☺️
If u want to see young and energetic govinda and hi dancing you should watch Bole Bole dil mera bole song from his movie Shola aur Shabnam....you would love it I m sure.....
Start with "bade miyaan chhote miyaan" - it has big b as well and u would enjoy the movie Few cautions 1. Do not put on your critical lens and dont try to make much sense out of govinda movies..just sit back and enjoy the stupidity and madness. 2.not understanding hindi mite take away some of the fun, becos govindas speed and way of dialog delivery is one of his usp's, but its ok. Give it a shot 3.with big b around, bade miya chhote miya is not a pure vintage govinda comedy but the perfect movie to introduce u to govinda's genre and prepare you for his all time greats which are 1. Coolie no.1 2. Hero no. 1 3. Haseena maan jayegi. 4. Dulhe raja 5. Ek aur ek gyarah 6. Jodi no. 1 7. Kyonki main jhoot nehi bolta (hindi adaptation of jim careys liar liar) 8.hadd kar di aapne 9. Ankhion se goli maare. 10. Kunwara 11. Partner (hindi adaptation of hitch) 12. Raja babu 13. Sajan chale sasuraal 14. Joru ka ghulaam
Pls start with "Hadh kar di aapne". It has Rani Mukherji and Govinda. Govinda plays many characters here and is very funny movie and also emotional and romantic...
I'd say start with Bade Miyaan Chhote Miyaan with Amitabh Bachchan. It's a silly fun mindless comedy, and you get to watch both Govinda and Amitabh, in double roles no less, plus some great musical numbers.
If you really want to enter Govinda's Universe, I reckon you should start with Coolie No.1, Dulhe Raja and Raja Babu. Bhagam Bhag (With Akshay) is also a good watch.
7:35 - What the hell are you saying Korbin? Like seriously you think Govinda is not known for his acting skills. 😂🙁 Ohh man he is one of the most complete actor Indian Cinema has ever witnessed, watch his movies like Swarg ( 1990 ) Shola aur Shabnam ( 1992 ), Aankhen ( 1993 ), Naseeb ( 1997 ), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan ( 1998 ) and many more......! Please next time don't ever say that Govinda is Not known for his acting skills. Even maximum people in India knows that Govinda has better acting skills than his Generation Star's like Salman, Srk, Sanjay Dutt, Aamir Khan, & Akshay Kumar.
@@rishabhshuklaIPS nahi hua bhai zyadaaa ! Sahi kaha usne, Govinda is one of the best actor if it comes to Acting Skills. Greatest ever in comedy, drama, action ( in late 80s & early 90s ), and even as a romantic actor he is hell yeah better than many others.
@@nikhil_In Many actors have stated that Govinda is one of the greatest actors ever including the late great Dilip Kumar, and his contemporaries like Salman and Aamir also.
Govinda have non comedy movie too.like "khuddar" "zulm ki hukumath" "shikari" .my favourite movies movies is cooli no 1,hero no 1,dulhe raja please react to dulhe raja movie songs "suno sasur ji,and kaha raja bhog kaha gangu teli.
Watch "SWARG" it's one of the best film of Govinda and Rajesh Khanna in terms of drama and acting (not that other films are bad but swarg will be good start for them)
Raja Babu is an entertaining movie with delightful songs in it .the main lead r glorious n superior supreme dancers. Karishma overnite hence became a superstar. The village setting is abt typical indianess (certain silliness) but just relax, put u r feet up n enjoy.
