Especially if you grew up on the west side hanging out on California avenue, walked to h&h market to buy some cigarettes at 14, graduated from Hillwood, raced up and down Briley parkway or county hospital road only I was in a 77 Plymouth Valarie, jamming to Metallica or Fleetwood Mac on my walkman (with my radio shack speakers sitting on the dash cuz it only had an am radio in it) and lived every word of this song. I still live in the nations (on Illinois Avenue on the west side of West Nashville. Not the same place it was back in the 90s.
