Back in the 70's, the maternity clothes were desined by Omar the Tent Maker. You were still supposed to hide the fact that there might be a child on the way... You did an amazing job on your clothes, thanks for sharing with us!
Cross stitch is making a comeback. I am that stitcher. Your flips were awesome. I loved the pink dress at the end but the green dress, and the white shirt were amazing.
Love the flower petal dress idea! I think a fitted shift dress in a sturdier fabric would work better as a base. Perhaps sewing a nude netting in would protect the integrity of the cut out, while still providing the same effect. Thanks for the idea!
I love your upcycle videos and could watch them all day! The longer the better. And the fact that you are such a fun and lovely person is the best part 😊 You take risks, I admire and respect you for that. The green dress turned peekaboo skirt and bonus crop top my favorite. It's (skirt) a little sexy but totally tasteful. You could wear it to a summer picnic or just every day. And the Free People set everything you said during that part: yes, definitely agree. Thank you for sharing your projects it really gets me inspired and motivated (: ❤
And you mentioned the linen fabric was getting away from you while trying to sew the seams. After cutting the linen pieces, before closing the seams with its matching fabric, stay stitch your edges. I think that’s what it’s called. In other words, if your seam allowance is 1/2 an inch, stitch along all your edges at 1/4 inch (anything less than your seam allowance). This helps lock the the weaves in place as though you’re creating a faux selvedge.
Hannah, your bravery to take a risk and it works out, is full credit to you. I would have worn something like that dress when I was younger. I made shorts, years ago, that didn't have side seams, but has eyelet holes and laced up so the thigh showed a little. Shocking, well I was 30 !!
The cup holder in the tote is such a great idea. I wish I thought of that in the tote I just made. In mine I used stiff black foam from the wraps you get with some appliances and put between the purse and lining on the bottom to give more stability. Also used leftover ribbon to make places to attach my keys so they don't get lost in the shuffle .. Many great ideas here. Thanks
Try this, it will help keep the fabric from stretching out all over the place so you get a more accurate cut: Place a sheet of paper underneath your fabric before you lay it out to cut. So bottom layer is paper, second layer is fabric, third layer is some kind of weight to keep the fabric still. The paper will allow you to reposition your work without moving things out of place. You can slide the paper around (when needed) and the weights will keep the fabric in the position you originally placed it. You’ll have to cut through both the paper and fabric but it’s worth it. Great 👍 🎉upcycles.
Sharing an idea, have you ever considered making a 'beanbag' chair or cushion. You could fill it with your pile so that it has a use while you are storing it. It might work.
The tablecloth fabric was too substantial to make a flow-y dress. Patterns have fabric suggestions for a reason. I'm glad you figured that out, and the finished dress is great! Kudos for the petal dress. Maybe the petals would lay flatter if you had hand-sewed them on? Good job on all the projects!
I enjoyed your video. I make a lot of totes. I love how you used the cross stitch as a pocket. Use a walking foot to go through all the layers on your tote. You might try placing your straps a little closer to the center, so the bag doesn't gap. I love how you just go for it, no fear.
I had 2 piece outfit I liked, but the top never fit right. So, I just wore the skirt and donated the top to my church clothing exchange. A few years later, l turned the skirt into throw pillows for my couch.
Haha, we’ll I suppose you can be into at any time, it just feels like that’s when it was really big, I know my mom made a TON of cross-stitch during that time!
I'm really glad this video was suggested and I clicked on it... I've only just started learning to sew but hopefully one day I can do cool stuff like this! That tote bag especially was just *chefs kiss*
Ok, I'm sure you've been told this a million times, but you look so much like Lauren Daigle. I think that every time I watch your videos. Maybe I even already said that. I'm sorry if I did. Anyway, you did such an amazing job with all of these! We have very similar body types, so I definitely like high waisted bottoms with a little bit of a cropped top also. That's so cool that you saved someone else's handmade creation from the landfill, and turned it into something new and useful! The dress turned out so great!!!! I can't even imagine what it would have turned out like if I had tried to make something like that. It wouldn't be good, I can tell you that much. LOL
The see through set. You may try changing the colour? I think one of the reasons you're not happy about it, is it's too close to your skin tone, it drains colour away from your complextion! Also you could incorporate the top into some as a built in bra.
Is there any way you can show how to make things larger? That's my usual problem - I've bought things that are supposed to be my size, and they aren't, and I like them too much to get rid of them.
Lol, piles never get smaller... It is the nature of the pile,... To grow as they shrink, and shriink as they grow...and so on and so forth til the end of time. 🙃❣️
A walking foot would have helped you with the tote bag. I like the idea of a water bottle holder so I'm going to use your idea...But! I'm going to use wide elastic instead of the actual cup. when I saw the beginning of the video I thought you were going to show how to make summer clothes from warm and comfy autumn clothing but was just as happy to see that the video waw about taking care and using your stash. thank you for your video.
I so pleased that you got a new video about summer do you think your clothes ever go down at least you trying to make use of your up cycling clothes good luck ❤❤😊🎉
