Thank you for the info, bought a used RC car and didn't know why the spektrum battery will not charge on my HiTec Mini RDX2 until now. Honestly the technology for lipo batteries is actually a good thing, because this will save you in the long run Looks like I'm going to need to get a spektrum smart charger. Thanks again.
Thanks for the information any any batteries or chargers that need to be updated just mean that you're buying your battery and chargers from a bad company and they're not going to support products in the future if they're not around
Very good information. Thanks for sharing. Definitely getting this charger and smart batteries. I wonder how well they perform? I sure will appreciate the ease of use and the fact that the gen 1 semi smart batteries actually work with this charger. 👍👍
What’s strange is that when I connected my g1’s to my brand new xbc100, the same prompt Sean’s 2100 charger gave in video “update battery “, appeared on my xbc 100, BUT NOT when I connected the g2 to xbc100. I assume that xbc 100 needs update to update battery as it only updates g1’s. Sucks because it’s new and on box says has latest update.
Two years ago I purchased a Smart 2200 11.1 battery and only used it a couple of times. Now it is completely dead. Do they go bad after a period of time. If so...I'm done with these. I don't use the batteries every week.
All lipo batteries will, especially if you don't put them into storage mode. I have a calendar reminder to do it every 2 months (full charge > discharge > charge > then storage cycles). Personally I only get a chance once or twice a year to go to the track, but doing this has kept my batteries in shape for the 3-4 years I've had them. Leaving a battery completely dead or completely full has a significant risk of damage to it. Every once and a while you can get a battery to recover from too low by forcing the charge to charge at a very low amperage for a long time (a low trickle rate) and after many hours you may get it to spin back up.
Great info, are the standard smart batteries updatable???? You know the one's with the balance lead? Also, can I assume the only way to update a smart battery is with a smart charger is that correct? Thanks in advance
