This is an update / aftermath of the flooding from Greeneville TN. at the Nolichucky Dam to the French Broad River and the Pigeon River in Newport TN. from Hurricane Helene.
Also a look at the aftermath in Downtown Newport TN.
Much help and prayers are needed for all in the area!!!
Almost all people in the area have been negatively affected by Helene.
Homes and businesses have been completely destroyed. Those that are not are without electric, water, food, and cell service.
In Greene County, the pumping station supplying most of the county with water has been destroyed.
The Nolichucky Dam took on 1.2 Million gallons per second of water which is nearly double what Niagara Falls sees during its peak of 700,000 gallons per second. Thankfully the dam held.
Downtown Newport in Cocke County was heavily flooded and many businesses and homes being destroyed. Also in Cocke County, there are 2 fatalities due to the flooding. I-40 from TN to NC has been closed due to the flooding and mudslides. Many other roads are damaged or gone.
SO much more damage in other counties as well.
It's going to be a long recovery. Stay mountain strong!!!

We will continue to try and give updates as they are available and as we can. We are fine, but do lose electric at times and have no water for the foreseeable future.
