I just recently found your channel while researching info about coming off the pill. Your videos are so helpful and positive. I am one week off the pill after being on for nearly 13 years and I am very nervous but also excited and hopeful that my experience will be similar to yours! Also subscribed to your channel because your personality is so likable!

You're right about our education system letting us down! Not to mention male Dr's brushing off women's health concerns! Sometimes it can all feel too much but thankfully more & more women are spreading the word about women's health & how to advocate for ourselves if we need to. 💛 A very informative video, thank you xo

I've been on the pill for 14 years and have been toying with the idea of coming off it for a few years. I feel like I don't know myself without the pill and your videos make me excited to learn more about myself and my cycle, and have given me that extra push I needed. So for that thank you 💕

I feel so emotional watching this, I had the marina coil for 10 years and couldn't go through the pain of it for a third time so I went on Cerezette and since then I've literally felt numb. It's so hard to explain. I am normally such a happy person, all my friends call me little miss sunshine because I have always felt a high level of positive and happiness (don't get me wrong, I've had my off moments for sure!) but generally I'm just a really happy person. Since I've been on this pill I felt like the light went out inside me, like I can't feel any happiness or excitement past about a level 3 and the only way I can describe it is numb. I'm so so low all the time for no reason, I wake up with awful anxiety and fears for no reason and some days I can't get out of bed or even open the curtains. My libido completely disappeared and I literally didn't want to be touched at all in any way and I have become completely irrational and emotional over everything. My skin has been awful and as soon as I eat anything, even a light salad, my tummy blows up like a balloon from my hips to under my boobs. After spending the whole of Saturday crying for no reason, I decided I'm gonna let my body do what it wants to do naturally for the first time since I was a teenager (I'm 44 now) and come off of the pill. I'm only 6 days in but already mentally I feel better, mostly because I've taken back control of my body. I am actually looking forward to having a period, the first for me in 15 years! I feel like I need a release and my body needs normality for once. I've had depression points in my life but this just felt like a new level of low and very sudden. I know I'm going to start going through the menopause in the next 5 or so years so I just wanted my body to feel something before I go through this change. I never wanted kids so I've been super proactive in making sure I didn't fall pregnant because that's just not want I wanted for my life, my husband feels the same and we have been blissfully happy in our decision for the last 20 years of travelling the world and just being us. I am really hoping to see shift in myself soon because I am very sure that all this has been down to this pill I have been taking. Thank you for sharing xxx

Thank you for talking about this. We are so uneducated about our own bodies! I came off the pill 5 years ago after visiting the Doctor several times with migraines and mood swings (I had to leave the house as I would have murdered my husband!). I was blown off by both male and female doctors and told ‘what do you want me to do?’. They have now diagnosed me with PCOS where the ‘specialist’ the said that I don’t fit the typical of having this as I don’t have male hair growth, excessively overweight etc. Women’s health is cast aside and we are expected to just ‘get on with it’ as you say, never knowing of what we are going through is normal or not. Thank you for bringing this to the forefront again!

I am so glad this worked so well for you Amelia. I think it is the very best to have your body do it's own thing and not be messed about with by artificial hormones. I chose never to use the pill for that reason. However I've had woeful endometreosis for years, thankfully not impeding getting pregnant at all. But the pain! No treatment really worked but later when i was put on the Mirena coil to keep hyperplasia in the womb at bay, good grief the change! I've never had something have so many positive side effects. Monthly migraines gone, horrendous depressive PMT gone, period pain now minimal. It gave me my life back. It seems I was lacking enough progesterone all my adult life and the Mirena supplies it. Whatever keeps us well and happy. :D

That’s so great strawberry! Yes, see, hormonal contraception can help with the symptoms of underlying problems like this. The issue is when we’re put on them without further investigation or explanation and people go years without even knowing! It’s really frustrating 😣

Found your videos just as I stopped Cerazette after 12 years on it. Glad I did as the majority of things I found online only gave negative experiences. You have summed everything up perfectly, from libido to skin to general happiness I have had he same experience more or less as you have. I was on Roacutane for a while when on the pill and was worried I would get my skin problems back but it is so much clearer!!! I am so much happier in general and cannot believe the difference in my day to day life just from stopping the pill. I have come to the conclusion I gave basically been in a state of PMS for 12 years solid and it is so good to feel free again finally!!!

I'm so thankful that you're talking about all this! Your first video about coming off the pill went up right around the time I got married (and became sexually active because that's how life happened for me). Around that time people I love who didn't know better were telling me I needed to get on a pill and I was feeling some pressure about it even though I really didn't want to mess with my cycle. Your first video gave me the confidence I needed to say no and do what I knew was best for me - - and to know that just using condoms is a viable option! It also gave us the freedom to have no barriers in trying for a baby just a few months ago and we're expecting now and so ecxited! Not going on a pill at all was one of the best decisions I've made, so thank you for talking about it, it really makes a difference!

I came off the pill last December after being on and off different pills and implant for about 12 years. I just decided my body needed a rest and was sick of spotting at random times of the month! I thought my bloating would get better when I came off it but my toilet issues, pain and bloating to name but a few symptoms have got worse over this last year to the point where I dread my period especially if I'm at work. I've been to my doctor and awaiting an appointment with a gynaecologist now as have a family history of endometriosis. It's so interesting to see how different people react to coming off the pill. I get you with the grey haze, everything felt a bit numb and sex drive has come back. So there are some positives 🙂

Brilliant video and so interesting to see your journey through coming off the pill, I I don’t think I ever had an issue with my pill but decided to come off as there seems to be lots more women doing it. I moved to the copper coil to see if anything changed and FOR ME i don’t think it was the right decision but as you said there are plenty of options and you’ve been super helpful with trying to have a more sustainable period. I am much more in tune with my body too so there has been more positive points than negative. xx

I came off the pill a bit less than three years ago and got surprise pregnant after an organic condom malfunction four months later - at 40! 🤦‍♀️ Not complaining, my little boy is my pride and joy. But between him and his two stepbrothers, we really have enough prides and joys now 🤣, so I got back on the pill after his birth. I keep contemplating the many alternatives because the side effects are no joke, but honestly so far nothing looks very appealing to me! Love that you seem so happy and healthy with your own choice, it was clearly the right one for you 🥰❤️
@xameliaxYoutube
@xameliaxYoutube 3 года назад
Oh no 🙈 Just to clarify for others reading - organic condoms are just as affective as regular condoms, when used correctly they’re all 98%, the pill is 99%. But with everything there are always accidents and user error - we don’t want to scare anyone haha 😆 it’s incredibly frustrating I think that there aren’t many more options for men and the responsibility always falls on the woman unless the man decides he will get a vasectomy. Maybe one day we will have more options! 💕

I’m so glad it has been so beneficial going off the pill! And yeah having PCOS in the UK sucks! When I was diagnosed I didn’t know I had options for anything (even taking the pill if I wanted!!) all the dr said was ‘lose weight’ that’s it!! I didn’t know until about 3 or 4 years ago I could have gone on the pill to get ‘regular’ periods (obvs pill induced but still) and supposedly help my acne. Although I have found holistic things to help with some of the symptoms xx

Thank you for adding such valuable information to this topic! Not many people are so comfortable talking & sharing. I've struggled for the last 7 years with contraception from the injection, combined pill to the mini pill and my body has never adjusted well to it. I've had periods that last a month, have a 5-day break and then back on my period. Along with this, I've had other side effects like hair loss etc. I am very grateful to have the NHS however feel extremely lost trying to get help and have been dismissed when trying to understand other options. I've now decided to stop taking the pill and see how my body responds. I've tried your tip on looking at the listed GPs at my health practice, but they don't seem to have any of their credentials listed. Do you have any advice on how I can find a Dr to speak to or even how to book an appointment in this new virtual world we live in?

Hello, been subscribed to your channel then Instagram for a long while but great video. I was on the pill for 5 years came off it due to overly delayed diagnosis of epilepsy(caused by a clot on the brain as a baby so hence told to come off it), then been on the injection ever since as it was that or the coil which were my only options that would still be affective with my medication. But on both I’ve not had positive things to say about my moods and libido either and bouts of spots each time i get the injection done which gives me a feeling of how unnatural it is! I’m getting married in February and thinking for the future about letting my body take its time and get into a natural cycle again, so once my injection runs out in October that will be it and I’m actually really looking forward to it. I’ve wanted to do it for the past year but I think the way society perceives a period as being an inconvenience and my experiences with it as a teenager I’ve been putting myself off with the thought of getting a period after barely having one for the best part of 11ish years! I could actually double what I’ve written here about it all but I’ll stop before it becomes too much of a mammoth comment🤣 xx

I'm 25 and been on the combined pill for 8 years as before I was on it (from about 12-18) I had severe period cramps which were sooo bad they caused vomiting, nausea and headaches every cycle, I was fobbed off by male DR onto a series of anti sickness tablets (which obviously didn't help) until I did my own research and went onto the pill but I'm almost certain being on the pill has effected my mental health (depression and anxiety) and general mood majorly but won't know for sure unless I come off it which I'm petrified to do in fear of my periods going back to how they were 😫 I'm honestly put off going to my GP about this as I don't think they'll take me seriously

The pill can be a great way to help deal with the symptoms of underlying conditions or heavy periods for some people but it sadly does sometimes come with some side effects. I’ve got a video on a private hormone testing company I really rate if you wanted to investigate a little yourself before presenting to your GP. Or if you find a DR who has the qualification DRCOG (look on the website at the list of practitioners) they can often have more knowledge about these things and may be more helpful 💕xax

It is very important to go to your doctor before you decide to come of the pill. In my case it was the worst decision as I developed 2 cysts that were quite big and lost my period and was not feeling good. I originally came on the pill due to cysts and I was told by my doctor that I should keep taking it unless I want to have a child because the cysts will come back and it will be worse. I've been of the pill for like 3 months and I haven't felt better at all because it triggered these other problems. It is not the same for everyone, I know a lot of women that took it because of cysts and they had no issues coming of the pill but for me it was a lot worse. So go to your doctor before deciding, especially if you came on the pill to treat a health issue. Of course it is not nice, but I'd rather have my ovaries and take the pill than have it removed. Also, some pills will have a 7 day break when you will have a 'period', but it is more like a cleaning.
