We experienced the same issue when we had our hands on a demo for our first run vid. Before we even ran it we noticed there was ZERO room under that body for natural air flow and were expecting it. We were NOT expecting it to cut off as frequently as it did tho. We couldn't tell if it was the batteries or ESC since we didn't have a temp gun or battery checker that day. Glad your actually trouble shooting it and showing the issue. We only had the demo for a few hours so your making my life much easier for when I get my own. Lol Cheers!
Yeah, I think we all saw the burnouts and smoking tires and were overdoing it. 😂 When I ease up and do more straight driving, it definitely changes the temps. It's a very capable car. Just like any...we just need to watch how we drive because it does affect motor temps. I never ran my Losi Ten-SCTE for longer then 5-6 minutes at high speeds. It was geared to race and would get hot bashing it for too long
Wow! That truck is flippin awesome!! Better have deep pockets to keep tires on that rig. Crazy how fast they wear out. Thanks for sharing some info on it!!!
When rich and I were doing the demo run on the infraction we found that there is literally almost no air flow under that body. Also the heat of that motor is going to dissipate through the motor wires. If a vent was somehow implemented into that body so the fans were actually able to pull fresh air into the esc
Good informative video. My infraction overheat 2 times and my ESC died on the second thermal shut down. Now i cut airwends into the body 2 in the rear sides and the entire front grill and the sides of the front bumper. I'm about to put a Hobbywing max 6 in it and curious how it performs. Can't wait to test it out and see what temps i get with my airwends in the body.
Im just getting back into rc after almost 10 a year break. I was going to jump back in to traxxas cause that was all the rage back then. I saw people raving about arrma and then I saw this mamajamma lollol I've had it two months but still haven't run it, I immediately purchased a new radio/receiver, esc, motor and some ntf fans, I installed everything but the fans. Should be ripping up some hoons in about a week or so. Yours was one of the first infraction videos I saw and I was hooked on that resto-mod design!
Can you in the future when doing temps and speed can you put the comparison up for km/h and degC for us Aussies that watch your channel . Keep up the great work on your content.
Won't be surprised if these and any of the newer edition arrma esc's don't shut down at the proper esc temperature. Temps can spike super fast at any givn moment. Still like to go over some older footage to refresh the memory.
Thanks for sharing Tony,,, and giving us some good info brother,,, That's what is all about sharing the info,,so we can take advantage of it ,,if we rub through the same problems,,,Good stuff brother
hence the crazy wear. Adjust the punch really took a toll on those tires. They are more worn on the rear after 2 runs then the others were from multiple runs.
Great vid Tony, I agree it definitely heats it up more when you bash it the way you do especially compared to just doing a couple simple speeds. Speaking of speed runs, have you tried the included optional pinion? I watched the Amain Infraction vid earlier and they were using the included optional pinion and they managed to hit 80mph even with it. I know it's not for bashing but may be interesting to see just for a quick speed test vid to see what you can get out of her with that other pinion. I'd love to see your reaction of hitting like 70-75mph with that bad boy!🤘😎🤘
Super informative video for a rookie like me and anyone else honestly. I think we have the same temp gun. 😂. I think that my Granite BLX also had a thermal shut down yesterday, but it was like 20 minutes after almost non stop full speed running on dirt and grass. I noticed that my ESC also had the flashing green light. It didn't shut down completely, but it slowed down. I was done by then anyways. Motor was at like 186 F. I'm assuming that's too high right? Thanks!
If you want to Hoon, tape your tires with electrical tape. It's the oldest trick in the book and it will preserve your expensive tires. Plus they'll keep your temps cool since there's zero resistance. 🤙 Nice vids
@@tmmtmm nah, just keep applying tape. The stuff is pretty durable and WAY cheaper then tires. I'm speaking from experience. This is $1 tape vs $100 tires.
Think its awesome T, love the smokin Tyres, Great speed, am having a speed run day, My JLB Cheetah 3speed should do a 100 kmh if I can on 4s 😁 fantastic video mate 👍😁👍
Venom Lipos are garbage....I'm suspecting these are 25c/50c rated? To do a proper test, use some 100+C rated lipos to see it's full potential. Great video man, that's a sick truck....And please stop unplugging wires with one hand lol that just kills me hahahaha cheers dude Big Like man :)
Oh virgina forget bout it , tony i took my kids there once by a waterpark , we were like lobsters wearing sunblock too i never experienced heat like that and after watchin yt with arrmas i wondering how in California guys gearing rigs up arrmas but on gravel sending in the air usually off the throttle .tony remember arrma European where cool all time and heat rises so if your on the hot ground with a low rider
Its 104 in Texas right now feel like 109. Just bought my infraction today but have not run it yet. Oh my I might be in for a suprise. This might end up being a fall/winter driving truck.
They make a tire temp gauge too for racing so can adjust toe and camber irrelevant for rc i guess you be able tell how much of front tires meeting the ground on the turns
Probably will go down a few teeth in the pinion. However, I haven’t been having the issue as I just take it easier on it. I do some hard bashing and then back down for a bit. Just like my race trucks that I know I shouldn’t go hard with for more then 6-8 minutes. Even then I have to run it like it’s on a track and not just wide open all the time.
So 190° temp on he outside of the esc means those mosfest are cook'n at least 200° probably 220° which technically is major danger zone for electronics. That's not a good temp to he running at 4sure
I'm not the guy to recommend tires for onroad cars. I'm waiting for more of the DBOOTS becuase they handle great....just don't burnout too much :) I was told GRP. I bought the GRP GT - TO2 S5 Slick Belted tires (medium hardness). Going to try them next.
@@brycecourtneymusic sweet! Will check them out! I just dont want to keep spending money on tires that cant hold up! I want something with grip and longevity! This truck rocks! But needs bettter traction so you can get more out of her! Its a mean machine!lol! And again thanks for the advice!
@@brycecourtneymusic cool! Thanks for the info! This my first street r.c. ! I normally buy the off road bashers but this one looked like too much fun to pass up! Just when you think you know a litte about r.c.' s you realize you still dont know no Jack! Lol! Still so much to learn! Thanks for your time and info! It really helps!
You can gear it down but it just lasts a little while longer,,, your problem is you running a 1/8 scale system inside of a 1:6 scale car so I don't care what you do is going to get hot,, especially in the summer you'll get way more DriveTime in the winter,,, upgrade the motor 2 under 1600 Kv that should keep the ESC much cooler
One more question ton, i was watching you bash the losi i too own 5t older one. i put 36cc and your might be faster its definitely running great i had mine running really fast with cheap tuned pipe and venturi on carb but too loud for the neighbors . plus i think leaving gas in carb messed up the diaphram try run it out if going sit the ethanol is horrible. How do you like the arrmas after playing with 5t vise versa i think both have there places litterly i always liked nitro gas better just came down to money places to play good nitro kit your over a g and been that way for 20 years actually more practical now but 5th scale once price came down was homerun for me compared to nitro
I love the 5ive-T. Everyone says get a pipe, but it would drive the neighbors crazy and I like running in my backyard...maybe if I only raced it...I really am liking the Arrmas I've driven. Totally different scale and feel. I'm looking at getting a Typhon as my next basher
Tony i just got new xt 90 plugs i dont know how many more rcs going buy , i like to bash daily easier keep 1 or 2 rigs going and gets expensive but question is you been hacking plugs sticking with one or do you use multiple my two new arrmas are ic5 but i need batteries anyway and i soldered adapters to use any battery any rig just seems wrong cut new wires off brand new rig 😄 next question you like new spectrum rtr remote ? Even with plastic wheel hows compare to tactic im ready buy futaba just arrma making me broke
I've been going with EC5, so I have to solder them on all my batteries. It's a pain, but so many cars coming from Horizon that their system makes sense. :) I like that the new Spektrum has a throttle limit switch for me to hand the controller to my kids and only let them have reduced power. I like the feel of the tactic, but performance wise they seem similar. I use Shen RCs rubber wheel grips on my transmitters. Cheap way to get a consistent feel
They were very easy. I have a video showing it. You do need to get the JR to JST Y-Split cable (that doesn't come with it, but IMHO should come with it)
Uk i was thinking yes moving air would be good but talking about hot air and not moving fast wont do much , thats why those fans you have work good bc move so fast and like shen rc was saying you may have compromised the motor getting it over 200 on first few runs if thats the case send that sucker back im sure arrma will honor even lil your fault you did it advertising basically . try a motor esc out of one other arrmas just watch temps close as if it were a nitro
That's not good and don't look right 189 deg on the motor way way to hot! I think the motor may have gone bad the rotor weakened from to much heat will then cause the esc to try and give it more amperage to make it work properly then your ESC will run much hotter? I think arrma may have set this truck up wrong out of the box with much to large of a pinion gear so when guy's like you kind of just bash around and drive it like a normal RC and not just a quick speed run I think people may be blowing there motors like I stated above... To be honest if anyone gets one of these I would drop a crap load of teeth down on the pinion gear size. just looks like a classic case of over gearing the RC and components start failing, If people start complaining about problems I bet arrma will be using a much smaller pinion gear in later releases of these new cars.
Thats what i was thinking shen , and hoping tony just got defective motor , but more likley he was excitedly at festival and cooked motor they are durable so feels sounds like your right on problem is he already done the damage
I think the second run showed that normal running had the temps right in the range you'd want. The burnouts are probably the biggest culprit in the temps. IMHO
@@CCxRC Yea but that was with 2 cooling fans in a big heat sink, It should run that cool without the heat sink fan on it. arrma should have had this RC set up with a much smaller pinion gear so they don't run into these heat problems. 👍 Definitely put a smaller pinion gear on it man.
this is why Hobbywing is garbage, when you have a thermal shutdown, the esc will not reset, and it's done. I have not had this issue with any castle esc (XL or XLX2). I Did swell up my 9000 batteries with the spektrum 8s, but no shutdown.
