The Winnipeg Police Service is currently investigating 2 homicides which occurred over the weekend.
The murders occurred in the downtown area, were located only a few hundred meters apart and appear related.
CCTV surveillance images were released yesterday that show a male that investigators believe is a person of interest in the investigation. Anyone with information on the identity of the individual, or any information that may be related to the investigation are asked to contact homicide detectives at (204) 986-6508, or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS.
Earlier this morning we received numerous inquiries regarding a significant police presence in the 100 block of Princess Street.
Given the nature of given the nature of these murders: their location in back-lanes within the downtown area of the City, and the fact that both victims were homeless/street people, it is reasonable to expect the public to see officers connected to the investigations working at various locations within the downtown area of the city, especially alleys or laneways with pedestrian traffic.
The Winnipeg Police Service will continue to release information on the investigation as it becomes available.
