You've created a nice work space! And, you're obviously stronger than am I --- although . . . I'll credit myself for working daily, and always pressing to improve. Your videos keep the in-spiration coming!
Thank you! Sometimes Taiji practitioners get so involved in being soft that they forget that no amount of chi ever lifted a 45 pound water bottle onto the stand! There is idealism and there is practicality.
@@randallfung5457 I agree with you and its great to see others out there that think like I do from my training. I have watched many of your videos your appraoch is correct the right way. Thank you for responding to my response
Yeah, I especially like that I can just walk over and do some exercises in between chores. (That's why I am wearing jeans in the video) But we shall see how it fairs when the heat and flies come in the summer!LOL
Partially because of your site, I started lifting heavy things again too. I picked up kettlebells because I figured the fluidity was more in line with taichi. love them and they feel complimentary as well as add some cardio. Question though, do you find lifting weights in more isolated traditional manner help more because of correction of support/imbalances as well as training tendons to support flexibility?
I've lifted weights since I was 13, so they feel natural to me. I like that you can adjust the lifting style to suit one's needs. Lately I have been working with lighter weights but concentrating on the hypertrophy actions to build strength while taking it easier on the joints. So yes to your last portion of the question. Kettlebells are more fluid in their movements, but going too heavy can result in more possibility of straining as the momentum can take over control. And added to the fact that momentum helps in moving the weight, but at that point, you are not necessarily activating the muscle as you would lifting slower.
