Thank you so much for doing this review! I’ve subscribed to hear more from you, too. I just received my first pair of Teiks and had to request a size up just this morning. I’m afraid I’m going to be in the same situation as you, and going for the Cranes. I’ll be checking that option later today!!! I’ve been looking at Teiks forever as you were.

you needed to size up on the Tieks, I had the same tight feeling as you, cuz im a size 7 and I bought a 7 and then they hurt right where u were saying they hurt, I exchanged them after two weeks ( I did wear them outside but I cleaned them really well and no one could tell) and got a size 8 and they are amazing. I was told there shouldnt really even be a break in period and I didn't feel any break in period with all 4 of my size 8 Tieks. But none of this matters now that you found those lovely Cranes! I wanted them the minute you showed them but the shipping costs, the lack of flexible and quick exchange policy and the amount of weeks it takes for them to arrive ( and potentially get stolen along the loooong journey) is a deal breaker for me. I am going to look for a Cranes update video of yours, I want to see how the non leather sole holds up ( I murder soles that are not leather 🤪)

Hello! First off this picture isn't me, but somehow my husband is signed into the RU-vid and I'm too lazy to sign out and find the video again, so sorry about that! I too am an 8.5 but I ordered up from the get go and for the first day or 2 I got that same line of misery on my toes! I was sad, but I did research and found that putting moleskin tape right there helped sooooooo much! I love my Tieks! I wear them everyday and think they are amazing! I recently accidentally forgot all my other shoes when I went on vacation to Vegas, San Francisco, and LA and my feet felt great after walking FOREVER. I'm glad you found the cranes though! They look cute.

I have the SAME issue with the " big toe arch" but ONLY in the parents. The classics fit like a dream!

Thank you for your honest opinion! When I saw your first video and I saw where you were having trouble, I would have the same trouble at the same place on your foot too. If I have problems with shoes they are usually my heal or right where you had your issue around the big toe. I looked at the Cranes and I think I might try a pair!

I had the same issue you did with the shoe cutting into the top of my foot, same area as you. I have the same gold pair you had, the sienna croc and the coral patent tieks. Contrary to most reviews, I found my patents stretched easier than the regular leather. I don't wear flats every day so it took awhile for them to stretch out. But now that they have stretched out, they are my most comfortable shoes and I'm in love with mine! So I'd give your tieks one more shot, but find a way to stretch them first. I basically just suffered through it until they stretched on their own which I don't recommend especially when amazon has so many shoe stretchers. Great review/comparison video!!

Thanks for the true and honest reviews, Elizabeth! Could you do an update re: the Crane shoes, please? I'm thinking about trying the Crane flats out, but want to know how the sole of the shoe holds up (leather v. suede). Thanks!

I put my two pairs of tieks on and wore them forever, no pain, no digging, no marks. I have wide feet and wear a 6 but bought a 7. Had no issues at all.

I just ordered my first pair... I have slightly wide feet and a sore spot by my big toe (possibly the start of a bunion? EWW) I'm a 7.5 and sized up to an 8. PRAYING they work for me because I so want to love them!!! (Hopefully they will be here soon! I'm super excited!

@@mrsandyq that isn't really a size up in Tieks language if your a 7.5 then for Tieks thats an 8, try a 9 may fit if the 8 is too tight. Otherwise try the Cranes they are way cheaper.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time with your Tieks! I'm usually a 7.5 or 8 depending on the shoe. Ordered mine in an 8 and thought they were ok until I wore them for the first time at my wedding (stupid I know...I should have broken them in first). My big toenail was KILLING me from the pressure of the leather. I didn't have any issues with the elastic cutting into my toe knuckle or my heels or anything like that, and still don't have that issue. Wore them a few more times since then and now they are good -- maybe just a little bit of pressure that will go away with wear. Glad you found something that worked for you at least. I'm going to look into the Cranes. It's a good way for me to expand my collection without having to shell out $175 every time (which i just did again this past weekend, haha).

@@elizabethmedero i got the ballerina pink! I'm glad I went with them -- I really can wear them with a lot of stuff even during the fall/winter. I actually wore them in the middle of a snowstorm the other day. They're neutral, so they go with everything! I've only worn them a few times since my wedding but this weekend I just ordered the burgundy pair. I couldn't resist!

I too bought the Tieks in my regular size 6. They were so tight and hurt my foot exactly where yours did. Also, my big toe was right at the end. It was as if the toe box simply was not big enough. So I called and had them send a 7 which were too large. I tried wearing the 6's with socks but also had the imprint on my foot. Typically, in my experience if a shoe is not comfortable it only gets worse the more you wear it but other Tiek wearers say this has not been true for them. I could not justify paying that kind of money for a shoe that might eventually work. I did find the Yosi Samras and they are extremely comfortable right out of the box and can be purchased at their website, Zappos, Nordstrom most of which are free shipping. It was very disappointing as I really wanted them to work. Like you, I love that turquoise bottom. I have tried to look into ordering the Cranes but cannot figure out their system on Instagram. They seem to have no sizes and I do not see where you actually place an order? Thanks for your honest review.

oh man now that is a bummer. They are all made kinda different cuz they're hand made some 7s are smaller than other 7s and so forth its lame as hell actually. I have a pair of 8s ( thats my Tieks size) that are way bigger than all my other size 8s. The worst part about Tieks is the lack of PHYSICAL store and although the exchange policy makes up for it I have heard ppl getting blocked after exchanging 5+ times, but that is a tad excessive

I have heard that a lot of people who experience that rubbing on the tieks were told to wear them around the house with thick socks to stretch them...just ordered my first tieks after years of waiting like you!!!

glad you did this review. I am very intrigued since my feet are narrow and my big toe is long it always hits the top and tip of my tieks and hurts :( Im gonna try these now and see if it helps

I too have a high arch. The cranes look like a better made shoe in that the depth of the surrounding leatjer is greater, also it looks like a better, softer leather.

Sorry Tieks didn't work for you. I love mine❤️ I have the burgundy and the leopard. I do have chubby feet but they're not wide. I don't have that issue at all with it pressing on the inside of the foot. I do feel I needed to wear them a few times to break them of the very snug newness but other than that... I'm building my wish list and hinting to my hubby which ones I want for Christmas.

I just bought my first pair of tieks. I too so wanted to ❤️❤️Them. BUT. They dig into my feet just where you described, and theyre just not that comfy for 175$! 😝

I'm soo bummed!! I own many pairs of Tieks & soo wanted to try Cranes..I contacted a rep and I'm a size 10. Cranes told me I wouldn't fit in their shoes. Tieks offers up to size 13

When you are walking on rocks can you feel them dig into the sole of your shoe? I do love the lucky brand Emmie for when I know I will be on flat services but you can feel stuff dig into the bottom of them. The crane looks to have a little more cushion in the bottom. Thank you so much for sharing! I've been on the hunt for ballet flats but can't bring myself to pay the price for the Tieks. The crane looks awesome and would love a update on them as well for wear and tear!

Thanks Elizabeth - I was hoping you would update us. My bone or "knuckle" on my big toes are pretty big so I was afraid to order Tieks since I had read others had your same experience. So glad you found an alternative and that you shared Crane with us! You went with the 8 (9 their size) being an 8 1/2 they worked perfectly for you? I am 8 1/2 but because the top part of my foot is wider I sometimes need a 9 (US sizes). Would I order a 10 (their size)? What do you think? Thanks again for sharing!!

honestly i'm not sure. I do find that the cranes are a bit more "stretchy leather" than the tieks I had. Those really weren't budging. I found their 9's (8's for us) are perfect.

So I reached out to them three times and finally they responded to my email that I provided each time. Cranes told me shipping is $42 per pair I didn't get the same shipping price you did and I'm in the USA also

Would you consider your toes to be longer than "normal"? I have longer toes that tend to show in shoes that cover other women's toes completely, and I'm wondering if that was your issue (and possibly would be mine)?
