This is it guys. Just wanted to TRY and let you guys know where I was coming from. Many might agree, many may not but it is what it is at this point. There’s TOO MUCH information I wasn’t able to cram in or forgot to express but trust me on this. I feel like I did the right thing OVERALL. Love yall man see you next week 🤝🏼 SURPRISING MY FRIENDS WITH MY NEW MACH 1 MUSTANG!! 🤯 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i2Y4uAcEbrA.html
You did the right thing Derek. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, the fact that you decided not to press charges for damage to YOUR car is all your decision alone. I also agree that she learned her lesson with seeing the potential consequenses with not only her actions but the people that surround her. All in all man you're a good person and hope the best for you 👍
I gave you a bad comment a couple days ago. I saw your video earlier and saw what you said about the negative comments. I was just giving my opinion on the situation. Just so you know I’m living in my 5th house that I have bought on my own. My parents haven’t paid for anything. I’ve been on my job 22 years.
My best suggestion is that since it was the daughter's actions that caused the damages to the paint, you should offer the dad to have her get a fast food/retail job to pay off the damages she did. She has a whole summer, so she could work 30+ hours a week to pay it off. It would be a good life lesson for her to pay for her actions. Edit: to the responders saying that she is young or in school. I’m 19, not in high school like she is. My classes are way harder in college, and when I was in high school, I had a part-time job and worked full-time in the summer. She is studying for finals in this vid, so she is about to have 2 months of free time which is more than enough time to get a job working in a grocery store or in a sit-down or fast food restaurant, so I don’t wanna see anymore boohoos about her not needing to work because of age. Also, to those who think her summer free time will be taken from her, oh well. Its called being responsible and handling your problems especially if you caused them. If she hadn’t thrown an egg at a car, then she wouldn’t have to lose some of her summer break free time(if the parents had made her get a job)
About ten years ago I was driving my 12 year old Honda cr v home down our main blvd. at about 30mph when some gangbanger punk launched an 🥚 from his apt balcony, it slammed smashing into the front passenger side door spreading obliterated 🥚 debris along the side of the vehicle. I drove directly to the nearby Shell Station's drive-thru car wash. Cost me $20 for two washes. Thankfully, there was no damage, dent, nor chips in the paint. (Our two 2+ decade old Hondas have very good paint.) Apparently the perpetrator(s)thought the prank🎃 was humorous 🤡until they were arrested. 🤔
Depends on the angle honestly, you can throw an egg and as long as it’s the long way up it’s really hard to crack lol mother nature made it this way so when the mother bird sit on them they don’t break.
@@Unique_Racing I had a one week old Toyota Tacoma that was the victim of an egg 🥚 being thrown. It left the exact outline of the egg on the hood with parts within that shape that were chipped right down to the metal. 😞😞😞
17 years old is old enough to get a part time job and pay you herself instead of her dad or brother covering her mistake. That would teach her a real life lesson and show she can’t just throw a fit and have it fixed by others or get away with it. She just got off free. She learned absolutely nothing except crying gets me out of trouble
Yes I respect what he did for the dad/family. But he did nothing for the spoiled entitled brat. This situation reinforced her belief that she can do whatever she wants and there are no repercussions. She egged a beautiful car. Caused damage. And gets to walk away free and clear. They should have agreed that the daughter gets a fast food job or something like that and pays him off little by little with each paycheck.
You showed mercy to someone who’s life could have instantly been changed. The whole families life for that matter. Honestly that’s some next level respect..
I applaud you for the way you've handled the entire situation. Your compassion is a trait that is greatly missing in today's society. The world could definitely use more like you. Bravo, man!
The father sounds a hell of a lot better then his kid. Hope she learned something from her actions and thinks about not doing something stupid again. You on the other hand are the kind of people that this world needs more of..
Kinda common unfortunately. If I had to guess it’s an immigrant family. Parents usually work really hard and the number 1 goal is to get the kids into a good and good career. Then hopefully the kid then helps support the family. Unfortunately that can create a kid that was born in the US and has never had to struggle like the parents did. Aka they can grow up to be a spoiled brat.
It's always a story worth sharing when all parties involved can be proper adults and walk away with respect. Great job. Nice rides. And congrats on your partnership. Well done!
That was an expensive egg wasn’t it? Hope she grows from this and learns to respect the property of others and that her actions can affect others and her family.
I've always thought you are mature beyond your years. Compassion is something sadly lacking in many people these days, but you have it in abundance. You're a good man, Derek, don't ever change.
That was the devil testing you my bro. You didn't fall for it. I agree 100%. You worked WAY too damn hard to allow this situation to reverse your momentum. Been following you for years and the way you handled this situation is exactly why I stay subscribed. Respect man 💯
ay bro. i paused the video at 11:00 to just come share my opinion. obviously, it sucks that you end up having to pay most of the repairs. but, i have so much respect for you for doing that. life is hard and you never know what people are going through. i find it awesome that you were able to see their situation and understand that you can bless them by accepting his offer. it shows the kind of character you have and that at the end of the day its not about money its about doing the right thing. God bless you bro ❤
You're a good man for doing what you did for that family. I love seeing people put themselves behind to make sure people having a hard time. You really are an amazing human being.
Bro I just ran across your channel today. After hearing this and what you did I can’t help but to subscribe to your channel. With the way the world is today and how angry people are, you showed compassion and empathy. Even though you had every right to file charges and make them pay you took the Godly road. You will forever be blessed because you didn’t step on somebody who was already down. I can’t do nothing but respect that and celebrate you homie. You definitely gained a subscriber in me and will be watching your videos so keep them coming. I will make sure to go back and watch your older videos also 💪🏾
That is what I did. I ran across The Egging of The Mach Video a couple of days ago, and this one popped up a few minutes ago. Derek is a good man, and I HAD to subscribe! The World would be a better place if more people were like him. I’m not one of them; Derek is a better man than I am.
I was kind of hoping that this video would end with ( since this incident lead you to greater things happening in your life) with you giving) the dad back the 1000 dollars
@@DC-bm7oz I was on his side until the end when he didn't get the car fixed as per estimate, most likely got it done free, money should go back to struggling family.
I just subscribed to your channel because of how you handled this situation. Like others have said, your compassion is over the top and the world could use more people like you.
When I was telling my son about your video I actually said to him that I felt you handled the situation very well. I didn’t feel you yelled at all. I commend you, great job
yeah as fucked up as it sounds i wouldn’t pay a dime of my own money, maybe, i would pay to get it fixed if they didn’t have the money at the time but 100% expect to get my money back
I know everyone has a opinion and that’s fair but the way you handled this in the end got my attention. You showed real heart and compassion in the face of getting vandalized and you earned my respect with the way you handle yourself and my subscription. I know it probably doesn’t mean much but people can be really shitty these days and there isn’t many like you out there. Keep up the hard work and I hope god continues to bless you and your family. You are a good person and it shows. I’m glad I found your channel. 👍✌️
Your a great guy bud, a stand up guy. Just glad that your car is getting fixed, so sorry that you had to go through this. From a mustang guy to an other, you are family. I cant wait until you hit a million subscribers
I'm 40 and it took me a lot longer to be grateful for all my blessings in life. Good for you buddy that attitude will serve you so well and you're gonna have a happy happy life
This is a wonderful story! There's people who would use this as a way to screw people over! I hope the 17 year old girl learned from this ! It's nice to hear something good and positive. For the father I hope he has found work that he can be proud of! Being jobless sucks it can be the lowest point in someone's life ! Although the girl caused damage to your vehicle you chose to have a heart I hope other people who watch your video are inspired! It made me smile!
You handled the whole situation very maturely and I am proud. Quite honestly if I heard about their situation and their struggles and I had no doubt the father was lying I don’t know if I could take any money at all from them. I know it’s easier said than done being in a position where it’s not my vehicle but my heart just couldn’t take it. Back in 2017 I had purchased a brand new 2017 Mustang GT. Some asshole scraped my new white car while it was parked with his pos green honda accord with bent fenders and bumpers. He completely got away with it and I never got him while all I got was chipped paint and green scratches all along my fender. These things happen and people are fucking assholes but I think what truly matters are your own actions and not what others do to you. I would’ve gave back that money just bc providing for a family is hard but that’s only what I would do. Congrats on the new mustang Derek you deserved it and thank you for handling it without escalation.
Congrats on the repairs! Don't ever be ashamed about doing acts of kindness! You can always hold your head up high when it feels right in your heart! Keep it up brother..
I agree with everything you did, especially not having it painted and re-stickered, it never would have looked as good as factory, I’m happy to see you make so many great decisions at your age..you’re a very respectable and moral individual, and will be making sure I’m watching and liking every video you upload from now on..
@@PaintSociety yup I’ve had several cars painted over the years, it’s 50/50 for me, never had a new car painted, I would be nervous, and it would de-value the car..
Always tell myself whenever something bad happens. “Everything happens for a reason” in my opinion, you did the right thing and I can appreciate you for that. Mistakes happen. If that happened to me, I’d be mad but I can’t but someone in a deep hole trying to support their family at a young age. Yes, she’s 17 and should have common sense but, it’s a learning lesson.
Sometimes the worst things can turn into great things.. at least you have a relationship with your neighbors where there’s a basic understanding of respect
I owned a body shop and been restoring classic to, my man U did the right thing by touching it up u wouldn’t be happy with painting the car .painters come close but can never match that OEM paint . Happy to hear it worked out …
I'm really glad you decided to help that struggling dad for a dumb decision his "kid" made. Honestly, any financial/legal action you could've taken on them would have been 100% justifiable. I'll keep your message i picked up today at heart, and if i ever come across a similar situation, I'll definitely keep an open considerate mind. Much love from Texas
Hey Derek, i’ve been watching your videos for the past 6 years ever since redo blue back when I wanted an sn95, now I have a 2014 GT ruby red, thanks to your content. It really is nice to see someone I completely don’t know. Do good at life and progress like you have.
Absolutely earned yourself another subscriber you handled that better than almost anyone I know would have. really a stand up thing to do really amazing to see there’s still good peoples out there your an amazing dude I hope the girl learned a lesson
As a felon I'll commend you for being kind enough to consider not ruining her life, not to mention handling the situation the way you did! You were a lot nicer then I think I could've been.
I never saw your vids before, some reason youtube sent me a link. I just have to say you are a really decent human, who has not let ego and money go to his head. Thank you on behalf of us struggling families, for your kindness. From ON Canada.
Several years ago my wife's car got door dinged in a parking lot. The car was only a few months old. She was livid! The ding was noticeable, but not really a big deal for a daily driver. Back then she traded cars every two years, so I said we should live with it. When we traded, it probably wouldn't have made any difference in "trade in" value. I told her we could fix it and a week later the other side could get dinged! Anyway, we had it fixed - by a good auto body shop. BUT, the repair was slightly obvious and actually more noticeable than the ding was. Daily drivers are "just cars"! Really nice cars, classic cars, retired cars, that car enthusiasts own, are a different matter. I'm a car enthusiast and have owned cars that were only driven on sunny days. 🙂
During these hard times for so many families, you are a truly good young man. I know it wasn't an easy decision, but you did the right thing for that dad and his family.
@@DerekBaranProductions not a good excuse to be soft. You just got egged and you took it. If being the bigger person means being a door Matt I’m good 💯
Egg will eat through clear coat along with staining paint, thankfully you were there when it happened and got it off your car. She needed a good talking to and i dont think she was going to get it from her parents.
Years ago my just-repaired and repainted car was egged by vandals while we were in the movies. The egg ruined the fresh paint. I don’t blame you for being angry and commend you for staying cool. Good luck.
If you’re in the fortunate position of having more than you need, build a longer table, not a taller fence ❤ well done my man. What you did shows strength of character and compassion. Don’t stop being you.
Wow - they did an incredible job with the repair. You LITERALLY cannot see it. I have clinically diagnosed OCD and I would honestly be cool with the level of the repair. I would still know it's there but even with my issues, I think my obsession with it would subside fairly quickly. You have a good friend. I took my Ram TRX to a "premium" detailer in PA - they ripped the drip trims off the top of the truck and chipped it in the process. They said they would fix it and literally all they did was drop an ugly glob of touch-up paint on it and call it a day. I hassled them and talked to like 50 shops and I was really pushing them on the idea that the type of repair in your video could be done - but nobody would do it. I was so sick over the situation (and the cost of gas last the time) that I sold the truck at a small profit and put it behind me. Your boy hooked you up.
Props to you for showing some sympathy for the family. I know for SURE I would have been pissed too but I also would hate for a struggling family to have to fix the mistake of an immature kid. Props
@@chrisfreimiller4878 17 through 85 bro, we all need grace in the face of one another and we just witnessed it in real time. It was a great call and I pray her heart has been changed in this situation and leave it there.
Respect for being compassionate to them man. Tbh if you wanted the kid to learn a life lesson should’ve made a deal with the parents to have her wash the car every weekend. Teach her how to clean it properly which gives her a life skill and also makes her do some form of service as a lesson of consequences for her actions.
agreed. I really hope she does, cause I still feel bad for the dad losing $1000 because of her emotional moment. Could have been much worse for him, but that still hurts a lot when you're living month to month.
@@jjc032681 ,I know what you mean, it is hard to raise children with integrity in the age we are living in. I imagine the father was so appalled by what happened.
"Yelling at a minor, you're overreacting?" Well, when it's done to them, they would react the SAME way you did. If not worse. It astounds me that people have no frigging clue of anything. Bottom line: There will be ALWAYS CONSEQUENCES when you out and do things you ain't got no doggone business doing. Period.
You definitely did the right thing. This shows how much of a stand up guy you are. Not draining the family of their money is another big thing. You have become one of my favorite RU-vidrs by far. I mean it’s a dream to be where you are at with a boosted s197, which I have, just not a v8. You are honestly very inspiring.
Respect to you Dereck. I just found your channel yesterday and watched the videos about the Mach 1 incident. Your message resonated with me and you now have another subscriber. Keep up the good work.
I accidentally found your video. I think you did the right thing to get the police in the middle of it. I do not know how your local police works, but that report will help if something else happens in the area like that issue. About a year ago, I had vandalism happened to my garage from two 9 to 12 year old kids trying to break into my garage, and doing other things. It is not the best looking garages, but it is too small for some cars any more. So it works for a storage shed at least. It is just like my father's S10 too. It does not look that great, but it works for scarp hauler. I was lucky that I had cameras to find out what the kids did do. How I found out about this originally was I caught them playing in my yard on my father's trailer and S10. That is right they was climbing on things in my yard. Then I found other things out of place. So, I was looking closer at the videos. I found out these two kids stole things from my yard and even my grandma's yard. Then while looking at the videos, that is how I found out the vandalism. The one kid did the most damage tho. This one kid used a hoe head and piece of pipe that was next to my garage in my father's scarp pile, and was trying to get into my garage. This kid only did damages to a few boards, the swinging door, the door hinges, and lock. So my father and I reported it to the police, and showed the police the videos. We even told the police where we thought the kids came from since we even found the stuff that they stole from the videos, and that was another reason why we got the police in the middle too. My father and I kept an eye where we thought these kids was from. We finally talked to one of parents of the one kid, but the one parent thought it was not their kid till they seen the videos and photos that I had. Then we told the police about that we found out. We even told the parents that we are going to tell the police. Then the next day, we talked to the other parent to the same kid. This parent brought kids over to talk to us too. Come to find out, the kid that was doing the damage was a friend of the other kid. My dad and I watch the body language from both of the kids while talking to them. The kid that the parents that we talked to the most seemed worried, and was trying to stay back behind the parent. The other kid that did the damage was acting like nothing was wrong. My father and I asked for the kids to leave to talk to parent privately without the kids. You could see the same thing while the kids was walking away. After we talked to the parent privately, we found out that their kid is shy, and trying to follow the other kid that was doing the damages. Basically the one kid was the troublemaker of the two. Then we asked if we could talk the other kid's parents too. The next day, we did. After lots of talking, we did not press charges as long as the parents of the kid that did the most damage paid for the hinges, screws, a small can of paint, and little bit of our time. We did not ask for the board and door damage since the garage was old, and the lock since the lock still worked. That was only $80 since we upgraded the hinges to stronger set and screws over the old bent nails. From the other kid's parents we got a little bit for our time mainly since he was not the primary kid doing things. At least with my local police, they will have a report if something else happens in my neighborhood or if someone else finds stuff missing.
Could the people be lying to you to try and get sympathy?? If it was me, it would be a life lesson and I would make her pay for it, she’s old enough to know her actions have consequences. The whole nanny state nowadays, were kids don’t take responsibility for their actions, that’s the issue. Now that Corvette is a real sports car not No Mustang.
I cheer, applaud, and thank you for how you handled the situation!! You are a unique young man, especially for this time. Plus, you realize God is on your side. Thank you!! Best wishes to you and God Bless.
God does work in mysterious ways! Bro, you took the high road and the right road. It was big of you to take upon yourself, some of the responsibility knowing that the father didn’t have the money to pay for everything and times were tough for them. I’m glad that you’re able to self-assess and really see how blessed the life you have. When I was younger, I wanted to go with the engineering, but that was one of the things that I was worried about. I always heard the stories about Engineers who were getting laid off who were becoming overqualified or they were hiring younger people with newer knowledge and then basically they were sent out to the pasture. I had a similar situation where someone hit my car and the lady came to my house and she really didn’t want me to report the accident to my insurance because her insurance would go up. She had a little baby and she only worked at a local donut shop and to me I could deal with the damage on the car but to her it was a big problem. I’m glad that you have a good heart because we need more people like you in this world. And congrats on the new business deal that you have going on. Yes, God does work in mysterious ways! 👍
I guess I’m a softy. After he convinced me about work and hard times I would have handed him back the thousand dollars back and said I will take care of the damage and probably given him a thousand dollars out of my own pocket to help his family out. With all that said I would have told him ( IF ) i have ( ANY ) more problems with his family than I would follow through and take it to court otherwise things go smooth all is good.
I am had several Mustangs over the years starting with my 1989 Mustang with a customized 351 Windsor, my 1994 GT with a hyper chip, custom exhaust and air filter modifications and my 1997 GT customized same way as my 94, I love Mustangs, but I got a lot of trouble so I went to driving a truck.
Poorly handled, throw the book at her. You just showed you can get away with vandalizing property. Who cares if there poor, teach them a lesson. You should be ashamed for being to nice.
Saw the first video and to tell the truth, I would have been more pissed that you just paid $60K for a vehicle that has paint on it that an "egg" can chip. What is Ford using finger paint? No quality what so ever.
Hi Derek im Steve from London England, i have to tell ya i suffered virtually the same thing, i spent £24,000 on a brand new car recently, my pride & joy after 4 years of saving hard...the morning after the very 1st night i parked it up, i came out to find all the tyres had been slashed £600 damage, the "jealous" neighbour had no idea it had hidden in-car cameras which caught his face so clearly, i acted exactly the same as you after thinking what i really wanted to do to this guy, fuming aint the word, if i had a cat i would have kicked it...when i showed the police the video, he paid me £700 in cash the very next day, £100 extra as an apology lol im glad i didnt retaliate how i wanted to initially ...good on ya my brother in arms you're a real decent guy god bless :)
Wait, so you aren't actually getting the work done on the car? But you still took the $1000 from this dude? Or was that money used to have your detail friend try and fix it?
Been watching you since the new edge mustang days. You handled this situation about as well as you could have. Anyone saying you “over-reacted” is an idiot. As you mentioned in this video, anyone who has worked hard for something they desire has the right to want to keep that item nice. It doesn’t matter if it was the slightest scratch in the world, it’s your brand new car and you don’t deserve to have to look at it everyday as a result of someone else’s stupid actions. With that said, it’s very kind of you to take the majority of the financial hit. That’s compassion. The bright side of being a RU-vidr is that this entire situation (and they way you reacted) will only increase your popularity. In facts I’d bet it will more than make up for the 2 grand you’ll lose. Best of luck going forward.
I have the utmost respect for the decision you made regarding the family and the damage to your car.. I suspect they desperately needed to have their Faith restored, too... Good on you.. and I am also glad to hear that things have worked out so well regarding your car... 😊
The fact that she knew her family financial situation with her father and brother struggling to put food on the table and she was so validly self centered and entitled to egg what was obviously a very expensive car instead of asking him to stop the noise or even leave to a quieter place like the library like any normal person would do shows the level of ignorance, disregard for others and entitlement she has her and her family got really lucky that your a good guy because if it was a less genuine person she could of ruined her life and her family life with one egg
If she was my daughter she would wish you pressed charges cuz she’ll be working over the summer AT LEAST 2 jobs if she needs to pay for those damages. Every penny she makes goes towards paying that damage. No parties, no fun, just work work work until damage is been paid. Trust me she’ll never act out of anger ever again
Good job I understand how angry you were but you handled it great you didn't want the girl to have a felony and the family sounds like they were just hanging on regardless you did the right thing . 👍
Showing a 17 year old some mercy by not charging her with a felony is the right thing to do in my opinion, at least in this situation. As for her parents, the "right" thing would have been to stick it to them but there's nothing wrong with your kindness as long as the $$$ amount is no big deal to you. You should not feel like a martyr when helping people out because that would imply that you have less value than they do which amounts to a "sin" against yourself and is therefore wrong. That's my philosophy.
I think you handled this well. I hope the father gave a stern talking to with his daughter about consequences of one's actions and how to handle disagreements with others (not throwing eggs at people's property because they were doing something she didn't like).
Derek, I really have to admire you for the way you handled this. It shows that you are compassionate person and that is to be highly commendable. Personally, I would have been livid, especially with a new vehicle and the price you paid for it. I'm just curious, though. Wouldn't your car insurance cover the damages minus the deductible under the comprehensive portion of the vehicle policy? Granted, if you filed a claim your rates would most likely go up a little in the next 3 years. It probably wouldn't go up the $2000 that you are having to pay out of pocket, since the Father only gave you a thousand.
For a family struggling that hard that even the son is working to help get by And you got it all going for you and have many blessings I probably would give that 1k back to the father, you will get it back through blessings from above, find another way for her to be taught a lesson, you said it yourself there is no telling what they are going through and may be part of why she over reacted and egged your car, in the grand scheme of things it’s small, but I bet that 1k hurt them more than your repairs and upgrade cost did, it’s just a thought and opinion, either way you handled it better than most people would
Okay I was one of the people who gave you a hard time about the “damage “ but in my defense you didn’t articulate or show as good as you did with the close up in this video. After seeing the pics in this video I definitely take it back when I said “she didn’t throw a rock…” yeah she dead fucked up your brand new car. Bro you’re a good human that’s why you feel bad.
I applaud you for being the bigger person yet holding them accountable to some extent. Life is tuff, but we all have to be accountable. Dad should make his daughter work it off during her summer break.
