Well Cowboy Roy, you should consider yourself extremely lucky to have a garden that is producing some food. We have had 2 nights in a row with frost warnings. It got down to 0°C on Tuesday night and 3°C last night. AS you know that it's in western Alberta where Banff ,Cochrane got snow . Now I don't freck out about the GSM hype. I remember it snowing on the 15th of August back in 1991,and before that it snowed in July 1981, so I've come to realize and accept that the weather patterns have no static patterns other than the 4 seasons that God set into motion by his Devine Master design. May God continue to bless you and your family and friends and don't fret about all those thieves you have as routine visitors to your plot of land .Everything belongs to the creator of everything, so they have basically stolen from God. And for that action, there is a consequence and resulting punishment. Anyway Roy ,I'm glad you've accomplished the repairs on your equipment. Keep your chin up and trust in God's Word.
Thank you very much for your support and kind words. I'm certainly thankful for what does grow. I'm thankful to have also learned that I need to gain these skills now instead of after there is no other food available for one reason or another. I'm also trying to store long lasting foods like dried peas and beans as well as rice, flour and cornmeal. It's too bad I didn't learn those need to be frozen before putting in sealed storage containers until after a lot of stuff wasted. For example oatmeal, pancake mix, flour and cornmeal coming with bug eggs in it apparently. Because they don't get in the sealed container afterwards. When there is a bunch of stored items like that or the 10 cans of food rusted because some cans of pineapple rusted through and leaked to put liquid on the rest of them, it's a reminder of the Holy manna in the book of Exodus provided for the Israelites during their 40 years of wandering through the wilderness because they wouldn't follow the ten commandments. Anytime they try to save some mana for the next day it had worms in it. And yet they were always provided for.
Big okra can be used in soups. Purslane is very beneficial. Plant some marigolds with all your food to help keep pest pressure down. Glad you have food growing! Wendy❤️🇺🇸🙏🏻
Thanks for mentioning the marigolds. I'll have to try to find some. I forgot Brian had recommended that as well as others. If I look there's a slim chance there might be some seeds that were left here for me. Although they would have been left five and a half years ago.
You probably did. I will need to check. I've been trying to use the older seeds and don't remember what all I have. I bought some at the local hardware store also that I haven't really used. Thanks again for sending those. I pray everything is getting done that you need
Consider trying them fresh. If they sit in the house too long they start getting hard. I've been able to eat some that were five to six inches long and they weren't hard yet. But that's because the rain and water hose have kept the plants hardy. If they grow dry they grow hard. The ones that I cut up and mixed with spices and a can of diced tomatoes turned out pretty good because as soon as they started boiling I turned off the heat and just let it finish while I started it occasionally. They didn't get all soft and slimy. I guess I could have recorded a little video on that but I didn't think about it or have time
@@cowboyroyrogersnewsandclues the vegetables are my wife's ordeal. And believe me when I say. That woman can garden. All I get to do is make the compost, prepare the soil, put up the trellises, control the insects, and ,,,,, make sure she has water readily available. 😂
