Every year we'd have a few tadpoles to show up in ours. It was pretty cool to watch them grow out. Since making this video our water trough for the goats had to be replaced, so right now we don't have any fish.

Do you have filters in there?

No filters The fish will clean it all up and leave it clean/clear.

@@rrsugarloaffarm4536 How do you remove their ammonia and waste then?

@@ryan2215 once a year the sludge(waste) we remove it. Drain the container and fill back up. We've never had an ammonia issue. These are goldfish vs tropical or other breeds that would require extra needs.

@@rrsugarloaffarm4536 The green stuff is algae which the goldfish will eat, but that's also what filters their water. Except not at a quick enough rate to prevent them from sitting in their waste (ammonia) and burning their gills. A nitrogen cycle will eventually start with all those fish in there, but it still doesn't remove nitrates from the water with no filtration system to remove it

That might be to many

Feeder fish are notorious for passing in transport, and once in a new environment they pick off the weak ones. So that's why we put so many in there at a time, we normally loose ¾ of what we put in within the first 2wks. We think the new batch had something wrong with them, possibly could have spread to all?

How do you remove their poop waste of fish ? Is the poop harmful to livestock? Thanks

1-2x a year when it's warm outside we drain the tank remove the fish and dump the waste. Totally safe for the livestock. The waste collects at the bottom, and the animals drink from the top. The fish create like a filtering system. We have a small trickle system that consistently provides water to the tank, so that also helps. It's very clear/clean water.
