For my 74 Manta Luxus A, and 75 Ascona Sportwagon, I bought newly released aluminum caliper/vented rotor front kit from Opel GT source in California. They also have a stainless braided line set for Manta. The calipers are widened like you demonstrated, but lighter with better cooling aluminum. Also for rear axle, I am using 1982-5 Isuzu Impulse rear discs. Now getting hard to find, but the early Impulse has an Opel rearend. HTH
Awesome! You guys have such a strong community with OGTS , that is awesome. I doubt that it is ratioanl to ship it here but it can help me look for alternatives as in that kit. I am looking into VW/Audi rear end option but we will see- still need to find calipers. Did you alter master cilinder or keep thebooster and cilinder original? How much power are you making and how satisfied are you with your setup if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!
@@l3v4rt Ask away, hope to help out. I had bought their same set but iron calipers previously, and while making recent order he said they just got them in aluminum, so I added them to order. They are really nice calipers, sure they go with current vented rotors, so perhaps you can get lighter calipers shipped reasonably? I have yet to install and use them, so cannot say how well, but since I am installing Rover 4.6 I need them. He said they work with stock system. The rear disc should too, but if proportion issue, I will get Impulse M. Cylinder. HTH
Nice video! I have just fitted Rekord -86 ventilated discs and calipers on the front on my Manta A. The calipers needed some grinding to go free from the steering arm behind the hub. Now I am currently working on adaptor plates for fitting Ford Cosworth calipers to grip around Mazda II ventilated discs on the rear. //Andreas
Nice! I figure you won't be riding 13" wheels? I didn't want to post this initially since lighting conditions are bad butI figuredmaybethe informations can help someone. What master cilinder will you use?
@@l3v4rt Wheels and master cylinder are to be determined. 13" will fit on the rear, but I am not sure if 13" will fit on the front over the Rekord calipers. I will check during the weekend and keep you posted. //Andreas
@@l3v4rt I like to look further into the Volvo 240 Calipers and Discs....what Volvo 240 years are we talking about? I am thinking of going with 15 inch wheels for my project
Huhh I can't tell you year of build exactly since I got it from facebook where the guy had it for scrap. There is one version with 1 input and the one I have with two. But I think these are from a gasoline engine but don't know any part numbers or anything. Sorry man, if I find any info on it I will leave a reply here!
Nice video, I have the same wheels and i use manta b brakes. That’s really easy way but you can also use opel rekord e 2.2 brakes. They’re a little bit better than manta b. 👍🏼
Hi Metod, I went for 17's and 4 pot Wilwood brakes due to the power I was going for but if you aren't going far north of 150bhp twin pot calipers are more than adequate.
That is a great setup you have ! I think e21 brakes will be enough considering people used these on bmw e10 when racings. The only thing I worry is small rotor size of 246mm..and I need to figure out something for the back but we will sort it out somehow. I already have an idea for disc conversion.. 🙂
Thanks man! Interesting but makes sense since I've heard people used Opel brakes on VWs sp they must be interchangable. If BMW e21 brakes won't work I'll check VWs, thanks !
