I didnt read through all the comments, but you need to use a light bleach solution on your walls and ceiling. Wear a mask. Pull all your furniture out and cover it. Then lightly spray the solution. Don't wipe it off, just blot and spread. Make sure all the windows are open wipe down all your white furniture and kitchen and hose down the bathroom. Its harsh, but will kill all the mold and the light later of bleach will keep it from coming back. You will need to clean non bleachable furniture rugs with Method bathroom spray. It doesnt bleach but will sanitize. Its safe also and a great regular cleaner. Have someone in the USA or Canada mail you some. Also, Google other cleaners such as peroxide. Ive had to do the same with my South African house and one apt in the USA. I have severe mold allergies. Wash your bedding weekly, always leave one window cracked and leave the air purifier running, also get a dehumidifier. It will pull excess moisture out of the air and prevent mold from coming back. Keep plants off the walls. The mold and cleaner you put on the walls can kill them.
Please make sure your shower room has an exhaust vent. The moisture from the shower can cause dampness throughout your apartment and contribute to the mold problem.
I just found your channel and have watched your videos from the apartment search to moving, to being so sick. I am very happy to hear you are feeling a little better and I truly hope everything works out for you. Waiting for the bureaucratic process to move is a pain in the butt in any country but it sounds like you've done everything you can possibly do at this point. With luck things may move a little quicker. Take care.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. I very much appreciate your insightful videos. I also need to add as a Frenchman, that your diction and articulation are impeccable.
Glad to hear you are feeling better! After my mold exposure, I did a lot of research on why mold grows. It needs two things: water and some kind of material to feed on like drywall or wood. Can you determine where the water might be getting in? Faulty gutters, leaking pipes or roof, poor grading, etc, can all cause it. In our case, it was faulty gutters which channeled water into an area behind the walls of our finished basement. Anyway, I hope you can get the help you need to resolve the mold and improve your health! ❤️
So nice to hear that you're better! I just found your videos yesterday, and watched your apt. search and re-do videos. I got on here today to see if you had an update and to check the comments to see if anyone had suggested an air purifier. I hope you were able to get one that MORE than covers the area of your apt. If not, you may want to get another. Also, a fan might help keep the air circulating a little more. Your apt. is darling, you've done a great job on it! Best of luck with your health!
So glad you are getting the help you need for your health and living condition....love the tours of Paris as they bring back wonderful memories for me❣
So glad to hear you are better. Expat warrior. Watch out Paris officials. You will prevail in the end. I wonder how many others vacated the apartment before you over the same issues? Cheers to you to make sure this doesn’t just get another repaint if you move out. Yes I can imagine this can be frustrating. Glad expats have weighed in to give you support . Maybe potential new friends there for you. Can’t wait to hear the next update. This situation you are going through is actually good info to potential people moving to France and Paris , that getting resolution on a problem with housing will take time. They move like a snail does , millimeters.
I have been enjoying your apartment hunt/move in vlogs and was so sorry to hear you had been so sick for so many months! Our family experienced something similar in the U.S. several years ago, almost identical symptoms, developing asthma and we suspected mold but the landlord refused to check it out. Finally after they had to call a worker to repair a wall in the lower level, they discovered black mold on almost every wall in those rooms. The landlord did finally come to look at the walls (wearing a hazmat suit Lol) and gave us 2 weeks to move out, never compensating us for lodging and they redid the entire basement and rented it out. I contacted 10-12 attorneys, housing authority and health dept and no one wanted to take our case. I'm glad you are getting proper medical care and hope to learn soon you are finally getting help to get moved out, repaired and compensation. Good luck and take care
As someone with lots of allergies i will recomend you to get tested, I move in to a brand new apartment and got very sick, runny nose, sinus infection. Turns out it was the tree outside my bedroom window and the fact I have a tendency to sinus infections if my nose gets to stuffy
Also, dont move. This is fixable. You could end up someplace worse. Its mind blowing what landlords will hide. Since there is no ventilation you have to get a dehumidifier to pull out the moisture when you cook or shower.
I am late herre. Just found your youtube. The first thing I thought about was mold. Haven’t lived in Paris but been a lot in France and there is so much mold even in hotels but also in apartments. Just badat built and bad ventilation. Hope your situation will be bettet soon
I had a place with mould issues before, and ended up having to wash down my walls, baseboards and floors with TSP. I wouldn’t do this at your place until all the testing is done.
I’m glad to hear you are feeling better and i hope it continues. Have you ever researched the benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamps? I wonder if that could help you, too!!🧡🫁🧡 Your research into the inner workings of French departments is nothing short of Amazing to me!! WoW! BTW- Great job on everything you are juggling right now!!🎉 🇫🇷🧡
Hey, I’m a french girl who just discovered your channel! I’m sorry that you’ve been experiencing that in this appartment… I believe that this could come from the mold but watch out for the plants, I saw in your apartment makeover that you have a lot of them in the bedroom/living room area but it’s not good at all to sleep in the same room than plants for the quality of the air
Research and get yourself a binder while you have to live in mold. Binders like activated charcoal will help protect your gut health while your body is struggling to remove mold toxins.
It's good that you feel better, take advantage of the fact that you got stronger to create the immediate solution to the problem. In my opinion, you should leave this apartment immediately, there were offers in the chat to rent a room, temporarily, that sounds smart to me, and as you get stronger, you will surely be able to improve the situation even more. There is no doubt that you should sue the agency or whoever is responsible for this apartment, but this should be the next step, not the current step, first of all, get out of there : )
FYI: "ex-pats" living outside the US and Canada....run into reality of how other governments & agencies run differently..It's an "adventure" & learning experience for sure.
Glad you r doing better! It is very noble of you to protect others and fight for justice. I very much respect that.I was exactly same way and to some degree still am.That being said, I want to point out the fact that many apartments in Paris r like this. Also other ppl might not be allergic to mold. There is also different mentality of how ppl in France approach things and how their institutions and companies operate. It would take a lot of your precious energy to try and go against that. Pls let me understand more bout what is driving you to do this.
@@martiseelye6443 Did u read my whole msg or just the end? Fighting causes stress which is not beneficial at this time for person who is recovering to endure from medical standpoint
There’s an American real estate agent in Paris named Adrian Leeds. I see her on the TV show House Hunters International. She seems to be well connected and may be a resource for you to help cut through some red tape. I certainly wish you the best. I lived in Paris years ago and even then the apartment search was nightmarish. As was getting working papers. But so worth it! Hang in there.
Can I add here that she is not a licensed broker. She will charge a finders fee and then any agent she reaches out to will charge a broker fee. Yes she is connected and very nice but you will get a double €€€ hit
Several things, first of which my sympathy. I have lived in Paris for 33 years. All three apts were "indecent" in the way that your place is. Other comments have said that the way of thinking in Paris, particulaly, but in France, is very different from that in America. You can spend your life trying to get justice, or you can just get out of the apt, and maybe out of Paris! Unless you have some very good reason to be in that city. I understand that you used your savings ti furnish. Either sell the furnishings and move on, or take them and move on. Several tips. 810 or 840 is very cheap for Paris, even if it seems outrageous. Are you in a walk-up? You are not there to secure the safety of the next renters. Nice sentiment, though. Either you like the place enough to correct the disorders, or move on. Mold is a serious health hazard, but so is entering into litigation that can last years. Trust me. I know. Good luck to you. And do speak more slowly, even if it means packing less into a video. Also, conservative dress for apt visits is highly recommended. Keep your pretty outfits for the videos or for other occasions.
Excellent advice. She is on denial. Social warrior role is for the wealthy. Justified outrage will win no metals and will cost her long term health. This is not a movie with a happy ending. Moving is the only choice. Spending the next 2-3 years fighting a cause to eventually move anyway is stubborn immaturity.
