Thanks! for the updates, and good work. Our motto still on: Fort Ord gone, tacky, mismanaged, going to waste( maybe), but never forgotten that the same fed a lot of people.
I was stationed at fort ord, 1976-1979, and before that Fort Knox 1972-1976. Fort ord. Changed my life. Thank you for making this, fort ord is never forgotten.
Thanks for sharing this video. We were stationed there from November 1989 until the closing of Fort Ord in 1994. I really loved that post. I have so many great memories. I will never forget Fort Ord California. Thanks again for allowing me to reflect back.
My pleasure thank you for watching. I was there the same time you were and I created the station for everybody to have good memories and thank you for your services as well. I appreciate it very much Stephanie blessings Tony .
I was stationed there from June thru July 1975. Last day was Aug. 1st 1975 when I shipped out to Ft. Sill for School. Then went to Hunter Ligget Military Reservation 90 miles south and west of highway 101. from Ft. Ord. Best time of my life. I went back to Ft Ord last May and found my old barracks where I had Basic Training. I got Goose Bumps seeing everything. I was lucky that my Barracks was still there. Thanks again for the videos, I've seen them all. I would have been lost if it weren't for your videos. My Barracks is the only one left with the big squared wooden Power line holder on the end of the roof. Why are they Yellow, in 1975 they were Green. Thank You. Mike H
Thanks for your story and memories , I keep alive for us !! Thanks Mike for you service as well blessings Tony!! I appreciate it very much and Mike sincerely
It's good to see the old stomping grounds. Basic training & AIT at Fort Ord. May 1969 though Sept. H-4-1 cement barracks on the hill. Enjoyed Stilwell Hall. Then went to Germany.
B-3-2 about the same time, started Basic in the old wooden barracks and about 4 weeks in had a couple spinal meningitis deaths in our company. They moved us up the hill into brand spanking newly built barracks with 4 man single bedrooms with that new car smell!
I was permanent party party at Fort Ord C-5-1. We were among the first to occupy the the new barracks on the hill had my own room. i was stationed there from 1969 - 1971 it was a fantastic duty station. I was truly sad when it closed .
You were there at a great time. Wow with Chris memories thank you for sharing them and thanks for your duty and services. Nothing like the good all days.
I was there from July to October 1961 for AIT infantry school. Had been at Ft Leonard Wood for basic. I was in the new barracks. Was in the National Guard from Indiana and went home in October only to be activated later in 1968 for Vietnam. Never sent there spent 18 months more at Ft Sill, Ft Carson. Ended up finishing 23 yrs both active and Guard. Discharged as SSgt 1973. I loved Ft Ord best place I was ever at. 😅SSgt John Wyatt
The area was outstanding with Monterey just down the road and Big Sur a bit further not to mention Seaside . then Santa Cruz and Sanfrancisco to the north and to the west was Salinas. I had a good Friends that lived in Oakland and Ben Lomond. It was a great time to be their but i could not wait to get back to pennsylvania. Though it will always be in my thoughts.
BCT & AIT from Aug 66 to Dec 66. Basic in old barracks D-5-3 forth platoon & moved just a quarter mile away for AIT(light veh drivers course). They drafted 49,000 of us in Aug 66. No bad or terrible memories of the place.
The Vietnam era wow I guess Fort Ord was the biggest training facility for that and I’m glad we have you here today with us. Thank you for your outstanding services. Blessings, Tony .
