Kudos for showing the botched foil application. That is so helpful to watch, because i would freak out, lol. You boosted the confidence of a 50 y old newbie nail art enthusiast! Ty so much. You dhow the “real” process…not just the perfect process
The problem with the foils could also be from the moisturizer you put on your hands. The foil has to be oil free. You can even take a lintfree wipe with alcohol and wipe the back of the foil before applying. Just a suggestion.
I always put down a nail polish that is similar to one of the colors in the foil before I do the glue, it helps hide some of the imperfections from foils. I've also liked the foil glue that cures in the lamp better than the glue you wait to dry. Thanks for another great video.
Yeah that definitely helps! There’s times I like a clear base with some foils e.g. floral foils but at this point I think having a base colour is best! And wow I didn’t even know that was a thing! Thank you, imma have to look into that!😯 thanks for watching girl ☺️💖
I have a small press on business as well and I actually found these lifesaving tweezers watching another RU-vidr and I found them on Amazon as well as AliExpress, but they are long pointy tweezers with a flat silicone end that is a godsend for foils and stickers. I bought two pair so I always had a pair. And the best foil glue that I found on Amazon, is iMethod Beauty and it is amazing.
I absolutely love this set, beautiful color combination, I will be trying a recreation - one day... lol As for your foils, foils are terrible some times, and it sucks cause they are so beautiful all the time. 1st off you must prep your foils, take a nailwipe fill w/ alcohol and wipe the back of the foils, it should be silver (most kinds are) after your done. Do not touch this with your hands. 2nd Your nail prep, as a nail tech we dont buff things, were trying to stick to something else smooth. Two smooth surfaces do not stick together. So after you etch the tips, dust, and wipe with cleanser. Do not buff smooth!! Wiping your own hands should be enough, but if you must wash, do not use cream!!! Cream is full of oils, and you got it all over your tips, the foils, everything you touched. Oil is your worst enemy, this is why us techs dehydrate the nail plate. So, just dry your hands - on a paper towel. As for foil glue, it is hard to work with, and the lower end ones, dont work so good (yours was). Luckily they have come out with a Foil Gel. Young Nails sells a good one, so do many others - pick a name brand. Follow company directions to curing. When you go to apply your foil, try not to touch it, hold it by the corners, even use tweezers. Once on the tip slowly rub it down the tip. You actually need to be very firm here, your application was to light. You can use those silicone tools, a cuticle pusher, your own nail etc. But rub hard, you should see the foil come away from the paper. One can always apply a base color under their foil, so there are no peek a boo spots. You can also do a second coat of foil on part or the entire nail, the second coat always goes on easier, just be careful if it has a pattern, you'll need to match it up. Afterwards, I always run my file around the tips edges to ensure no glue or foil went over, as if it did, your top coat will peel and chip off. Sorry for the length of this, but I hope this helped and solves future problems. Even with the struggle, I believe foils are worth it. I personally own over 200 of them, there beauty is incredible. Keeping the problems in the video is smart, it helps other as well as yourself. Others know their not alone, and will motivate them to keep going. And, it got you the help you needed too.. 😉
There is a film on the application side if you put acetone on a cotton ball and swipe the application side once you should get a full coverage application after that.
Hi I would recommend to use transfer foil gel, I use Venalisa brand from AliExpress and it is very easy works 100% 👍🏻, I am sure many gel polish companies do this now, these glue is a disaster…
Hey! Thanks so much for the recommendation! Yeah I’ve recently got new foil gel polish and foils so I’m excited to try it out and see! The glue has definitely failed me too many times 🤦🏽♀️Thank you for watching 😊💕
This was a really great video on your process from start to finish! I love how you were able to bounce back from the nail foil fiasco! The nails turned out great.
The nails are marvelous!! And you did an awesome cover up!!!🥰 I would say try not to touch the foil on the area you will be applying it to the nail. Its almost like compressing the design making it hard to detach from the paper.
I have these and almost threw them away. There is a film on the application side of the foil. If you take a cotton ball, put some acetone on it and swipe the application side only once you will get a full coverage application.
I always do the foil twice I put the glue cure it I do the marble foil and it never comes out the first time and then I put the glue over the foil I cure it again and then I put the foil on again and the second time it comes out so nice
That’s a pretty good technique! I’ve just ordered some new foils and foil glue so hopefully it’s better but if not I’ll try out your method! Thank you 😊💕
Hiii! Thank you for the video! How do you know where to put the tape inside the nail? Or how do you know you haven't gone too far up to the cuticle area of the press on nail? Thank you!
Hey! I simply made the design myself on PowerPoint (added text, brand logo and colour), then uploaded it to Vista Print and purchased the cards on there
No but it's a pretty common size chart, that's just the chart I've decided to use. Others have different measurements for the different sizes. And yeah that's exactly why I started hand measuring my nail tips myself to make sure they are accurate because of the different fits of different brands! 💕
@@patternedpaints lol I could be wrong I brought some foils that did the same thing but I also had some very bad foil glue too...it's all trial and error...that's why I love watching your channel I learn so much ❤️
Can we use REGULAR nail polish instead of GEL polish and then simply use GEL TOP COAT and secure it? Is is really necessary to use GEL POLISHES? Plsssssssssss reply!!!
Hmm this would make a great video idea to test out 😅 I guess if the regular polish dries all the way and you put a gel top coat then it should be okay … but, I don’t know if they would last or if the quality will be there, and they may peel or chip 🤔 I definitely will be trying this out!
I have used regular polish with gel top coat and it worked fine for me. I paint the nails and wait a whole day (I know 😩) then apply the gel polish and cure like normal.
So im I'm australia and due to locldown from the virus all our salons are closed and have been for months now.. so here I am trying to figure out how to do them myself lol. The nails I got are ok but they do flex.. is that normal? Or can you recommend some good ones (the link in your description is no longer active for the ones you have here
Hey! yes some brands nail tips are thinner than others. I recently got a new set of nail tips that i'm happy with, here's the link: amzn.to/2YC1lFO , all the best with you nails! 💕
Hmm that happens sometimes to me but mainly only when I touch the nail with my hands ... I wouldn’t know how to stop it apart from maybe avoid touching the nail with your hands, wearing gloves or wiping the nail with some alcohol before you start painting. Otherwise if that doesn’t work just try to remove the hairs as you go while painting before you cure them!💖
Hey! When measuring I count the notches, each one is equal to 1mm. If it's the numbers on the tape that's a bit confusing ignore those, it's only the notches that matter! I hope that makes a bit more sense?😅💕
Hey! Do you mean getting polish underneath the nail? That happens to me when I brush against the edge of the nail. Maybe try starting in the middle of the nail, gradually work your way close to the edge with less product and avoid scraping your brush on the edge Hope that answers your question! Thank you 💕
@@patternedpaints omg thank you for replying!! ❤️❤️❤️ im just planning to start my press on nail business and ive been watching your videos a lot! You’re a really big help! Also, i really love this packaging and thinking of taking this as an inspiration to do my packaging, if i may?
Hey! I just did a google search of the most common standard nail sizes and then made my own chart 💕 also since I physically measure all the nails l always know the exact measurements too!
@@mariagregg2350 by samples do you mean sizing kits? If so then I agree, that’s the main reason why I decided not to use them and measure the nails accurately myself 💕
