Here is a tip about your crested gecko from someone who breeds and raises them. After giving them time to adjust to their cage I would personally put my hand in the cage and if he runs away let him. Eventually he will get used to you and he may start climbing on your hand or interacting with you more. Once he is used to your hand you can hold him and do the hand walking technique like you were doing. My first crested gecko (flicker) took a few weeks to get used to me now all I have to do is open his cage and he runs to come out and see me. Another crested I have (scortch) throws a temper tantrum if somebody else tries to hold her. She makes a wine if I'm holding her and someone tries to take her from me lol. Just give it time and eventually they will ease up to you hell he may even come to you when you say his name like flicker does! Anyway thats my two cents thanks for the amazing video like always!!

Petko, firsts off, awesome video as usual, when do you not make a great video? Second, I keep many reptiles, 2 of those include 2 female crested geckos. To tame your geckos down you need to handle it more. 10 minutes every other day or so and eventually it will get used to you. Their bites don't hurt at all, even as adults. You just need to work with your little beauty :)

Hey Petko, I love your video's I have been wacthing you for a few month now. I buyed my first spider because of you now I have 3 spiders and 1 snake and I started my own channel. Thanks for all the great video's that made me begin this.

I watch your videos religiously mate. I look forward to them all week, when I’m not caring for my own collection. (Up to 15 now) also picked up a P. ornata at the last expo near me and it molted in less than 2 weeks! I can now fully appreciate the colors on them. Better than expected in my opinion. Aw, man, I can relate. I had a wild caught wolf spider (Rabidosa punctulata) who was a mature female. I only had her for about 3 months, and she died on Valentines Day. I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Hi got an idea for you when your transferring your spiders and slings to new enclosures .get a big cardboard box .open the top and cover with see through plastic .glue washing up rubber gloves through holes in the front like they do when handling nuclear waste .if the spiders bolt they will still be in the box with no way of escaping , it's worth a try .

Loving all the content you upload for us to enjoy. Have you tried putting food in your hand so the gecko doesn't just want to move on. Might also help it getting used to being handled by something 100x it's own size :) And was i the only 1 keeping an eye on the inclosure Petko had behind him without the top on. Im mildly arachnophobic and always had 1 eye watching if the spider would go exploring, eventhough it just got food.

The more handling they have the tame down, its needs to be regular and if you leave it a while they get all jumpy again! Mine was the same when I got him so don't worry!

OBT was the first tarantula I ever got, it was a CFR morph so the orange was vibrant. After that I got 5 more! 😅 Really amazing species, with lots of attitude haha I used to have a vast collection but only have my G. rosea. Going to start collecting again, picking up a large 6inch L. parahybana next week! Hail from Malta! We're not very far! Hey Petko, have you ever considered expanding your collection of mammalian species or even doing more videos with your mammals?

Hand feed the gecko and put the tank somewhere close to your computer so you are beside it often. I had one that I could leave on my shoulder. It just takes time. They just need to familiarize themselves and get used to you so they do not see you as a theat. Just like a pet bird.

What I have always done with getting a new reptile has been to interact with them for at least 10 to 20 minutes a day, very gentle slow touches. Another thing that helps is when they're set up to jump like that keep tilting your hands so they have to keep climbing instead of having a steady place to jump from, try not to enclose them in your hands like that it puts so much stress on the gecko and can make this process so much more difficult. My fire skink was like your gecko I have these blankets I sit in the floor and let her burrow and play in them it takes about a month but now she loves being handled and has picked my chest as a napping place 😂

Here’s a tip for chips, keep your hand in the tank for at least 5 min/day. After a while you can increase the timespan and also move your hand closer to chips. That way s/he will get to know your scent

I reccomend hand feeding Chips until he gets uses to you, that way he will recognise your smell.

My beardie used to be super skittish when I handles him, he still is when I set him down on like my bed but hell chill when I set him on my chest or shoulder, I think it just takes time for them to get used to your scent and moving around. If his cage is movable maybe put it next to you on the couch when your chilling or making videos so he gets used to you moving around and your voice

i guess one can argue that reptiles tend to be creatures of habit.. so maybe use handling not much in the beginning but in a routine that he can get used to

Give him a bit of time, he is a wild animal. Handle him for very short periods, but do it frequently. They don't walk around in the wild, they jump everywhere, so you have to accommodate that. They're arboreal. And, while many of them do come around to tolerate handling, some of them never do.

Hey Petko ^^ awesome feeding video again ( like always) I have never owned any species of tarantula but I a lover of all animals so maybe somewhere in the near future I will ( after I have studied about them a lot of course 😋) at the moment I own 5 species of walking stick insects, 2 species of millipede, 2 species of mantid and a whole bunch of little caterpillars of the species Samia Ricini 💙 oh and If I can give you a suggestion for the future: you should get a predatory katydid ^^ I love those guys had them myself too for some time. He doesn't hate you, he's just scared of you. Tong feed, then hand feed. Eventually he won't be afraid of the hand monster. Or, if you want a friendly lizard, get yourself a bearded dragon! Love my beardie! My beardie love me! Okay, maybe he doesn't love me but he certainly loves that I know where the dubias are and that I often have a banana. Maybe even blueberries. Blueberries are the key to our friendship.

Hi Dark Den!! I've always liked tarantulas but watching your videos has made me want to get my own! My sister's bought me a Curly Hair(forgot the scientific name //I'm sick with a cold) and named it "Spooder" :) It just had its first molt as well! Thanks for making awesome videos of tarantulas ❤️

Used to have severe arachnophobia couldn't even look at a tarantula but after watching your videos it helped me to see past the negative stigma these creatures have for no real reason other than misconceptions. I'm thinking about getting a tarantula what would you recommend on being a starter

I received a female gbb on Friday and she seems happy enough but a small worry I have is she seems to be spinning her web, going through the motions but there is no silk coming from her??? Should I be concerned about this and does anyone have any insight they could offer me please???

petko to get him to "like you" you need him to handle him more or he will become less familiarized with you if you don't , but if you do handle him at first he won't be used to you but over time he will tolerate your presence if you handle regularly. (crested geko)
