We use audiobooks for some history and most science. I have my 7th grader do written narrations on those audiobooks and then he reads me his narration during our daily meeting. My younger students are drawing pictures while they listen and doing oral narration during our daily one-on-one meetings.
Some great recs here. I found a couple through my library and added a bunch to my amazon list! Teaching From Rest by Sarah Mackenzie is definitely my all time favorite homeschool book that has touched my heart so much. I also love her Read Aloud Revival book. For The Children’s Sake is a great one for an idea into the CM philosophy. I loved Educating the Whole Hearted child and pretty much everything by the Clarkson’s.
I recently picked up Give Your Child the World, a reference guide on how to teach geography and cultures using quality literature. I am very excited to use it for years to come.
I can def relate in being in this season too right now! I just finished Teaching from Rest, Read Aloud Family, In Vital Harmony (this book made me a Charlotte Mason convert), For the Children's Sake. Currently reading The Call of the Wild + Free and Wild + Free Family (newly released!) Oh and btw, I just bought my copy of Life Giving Parent because of your reco, and Awaking Wonder is now on my TBR, along with The Brave Learner. I love your videos about these resources. Hopefully you can have one every quarter? Lol thanks so much!!
“Boys and Girls learn differently” by Michael Gurian is in my Essentials for homeschooling shelf, along with Susan Wise Bauer’s Well Trained Mind. Highly recommend it.
Are you still using the Gentle and Peaceful Classical curriculum along with Sonlight? If so, how do you manage to fit them both in? Thanks for sharing these recommendations.❤️
Great to know that Beechick has another book, I absolutely love the 3Rs. I definitely need to add Karen Glass’s books to my list. I’m probably in the minority here but I hated Home Learning Year-by-Year so much I had to return it, especially when I flipped to the page noting political correctness. Fairy tales are brutal 😱😳 Great video!!
