I don't know if it's the miracle of makeup, or the miracle of your genetics, but you are the only woman I've ever seen that was still gorgeous even with a stocking on her head! Thanks for this video, I know it's old, but it's new to me, and SO helpful and informative!
Younger female here. I am so surprised to see how many women are ashamed to wear wigs. Please be confident! ❤️ you are beautiful and wigs are in. Thanks for the great video! Can’t wait to wear some more wigs
My fear is people will be able to tell, and as an older woman, what would men think as I am single and would be subconscious about when to tell them, if they can't already know!
I get that. I'm not single but I'm still very self conscious. My own mother embarrassed me so badly at the Christmas dinner table, as it was my first time to wear my topper. Now I've gone to this wig Jill's putting on. No, I haven't let me mom see it. She'll tell everyone she knows. Bless her heart :(
@@alliecat4176 Hi Allie!! 🥹❤️ I met my fiancé way back when I was wearing tape-in extensions, then moved to toppers, then moved to wigs and honestly I always thought the same!! I was always so worried about dating when I was single. But like I said, the guy I dated is soon to be my husband now and he has loved me through it all. He’s found it FUN and it all came down to my confidence while wearing them, and simply if I was having fun and loving life, he was having fun and loving life right along with me. Worries are normal and fear is natural to have, but I wish someone had told me not to be afraid. Everything was totally okay ❤
@@lidip8700 ❤ Lidi, oh my goodness. Your story touched my heart. I too had a similar experience with a family member when I was new to wigs and it was devastating. I am curious to know how you are doing now and if you’re comfortable around your family in your wigs now? ❤ sending you so much love and positive vibes xo
Hey Jill...I've been watching you for about a year. Silent until now, trying to get up my nerve to take that first real step. Well today I did it.....got my FIRST wig. Jamison in salted caramel. It's all because of you. You really make me believe I can go in public and most people just won't know it's a wig. I'm sure I'm not the only person out here that you have helped. Thank You for your time, instructions and guidance.
@@JillLynnBeautyTherapy Hi, lovely lady! Taking a chance, and asking you if you have ever tried GodivasSecretWigs, and what you might have thought about them ?? Maggie
Love this. I have lost so much hair due to both covid and a medication injury. I've tried everything under the sun and finally facing the need to start wearing wigs and learning how to. I've been so down about this, but changing my attitude from "I have to wear wigs" to "I GET to wear wigs and have FUN with it." ~xoxo!!!
I followed your instructions to put on my wig using it stays for the first time today. I wore the wig for just a few hours, and rode in the car with my husband to Walmart. I didn't have the nerve to go in, but that's okay since we are only allowed to have one family member in at a time. Your instructions gave me the confidence to wear the wig outside the house. It's not the right color for me, so I probably won't wear it to work at least not right away. I have devoured your wig videos and I appreciate them so much thank you. What I have found after wearing did wig this evening is that I need more bold eye makeup! I think I need to watch some of your makeup videos now. Thank you from Laura in Carthage Missouri
This method works far better than any other method I've tried. For some reason, I always have hair that slips out from clips or pins at the bottom of my hair line. Drives me nuts! Using the wig cap and the It Stays has solved the problem, and I feel so good when I wear my wigs. Thank you!
I find simply using a small spray bottle with water and spraying the area that needs to release the "it stays" glue, works very well for me. It is much easier than cupping water and bending over in the sink....(for me). I do have a small hand towel at hand for drips and blotting. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for all of your tips and videos.
You are so amazing ,so happy I found your channel . This is my first time diving into wig/hairpieces ,I still have a lot of hair but I can see that is falling and thinning each year more and more and I am so scared .But you give me hope and I am so happy to see I am not alone in this .
Welcome! My most recent Friday LIVEstream may interest you. It's a bit long, but you could perhaps skim through to see if anything catches your attention, and may be helpful? I also have a playlist called: New To Wigs? that may be helpful too!
I'm in the experimental stage. Bought a $23.00 long salt& pepper wig. I don't like caps either. I feel like my wig moves. Love you video. Never heard of the glue. Gonna check it out. I Love playing, having different looks & I'm 65yrs old. Thanks a million!!!
I just got my first wig, cap and It Stays, so excited to start this, what little hair I have is very fine and I'm almost bald, so this will be a change for me, I thank you for all the great information, without your great teaching I would not be able to do this, thanks for your help.
Jill I have watched hundreds of wig/topper videos but I always always find yours the most informative and easy to follow. I was watching you before I started wearing hair. Thank YOU!!!
Hi Michelle! Aww....this is so nice to read this morning! I am thrilled you find these helpful to you. I appreciate you tuning in, and for your kind words. Hugs~
This content is so appreciated.it’s really great to have support in finding our way with wigs. Everyone is different in t What is suitable. All these elements are great for consideration for our wig experiences. Thanks wig sista!
Thank U Jill 🧡 Im a long time subscriber (but hardly comment 🤷🏼♀️). But today I wanted to say thank you for a great detailed (but to the point) tutorial. And yes I always watch’m to the end 😆. I have the same feeling about the wig grip - the less on my head the better. Great tips in this Video
It's as though this video was made just for me. I've tried velvet and silicone wig grips but hate the extra layers. My wigs also ride up in the back, so I'll definitely be trying the wig tape and the It Stays. Great video - thanks!
Me too. I have a long human hair wig. Even though it's thinned still heavy. I cut and hand sewed a silicone grip at the sides of my monofilament top. Definitely more secure to keep the back from riding up. Works great for 4-6 hrs and then the monofilament top starts sliding back on my natural hair. The velvet grips did same. I think it's my fine thin hair, too slippery. I like this idea, she made it into a wide band. Must admit, it already looks more comfortable. I just need to keep the top from sliding. Our black beauties tie a headband around where they apply adhesive to help what they call melt the grip. But they wear all lace vs caps. Totally different install.
That Editor's Pick is really gorgeous on you! Thanks for the tips. I started wearing wigs in April of this year and I have to agree with your opinion of the wig grip bands. They wprk really well for me, but seem to get tighter as the day progresses and they definitely add bulk. Nice to know there are other options to secure my wig.
Excellent video. Thank you for showing the full install & removal. The only tip I learned about It Stays besides it working is to store the bottle upside down. Keeps the roller ball from getting stuck/dry. Works perfectly every time.
This video is such a huge help! I just started using It Stays after trying out extended wear with Walker's blue tape, which is not quite for me (I want to be able to easily remove it every day). I was having a little trouble getting the hang of it the It Stays, but I feel a lot more confident now having watched this. Your explanations are so clear and easy to follow. Thank you!
Hello Kiki! I am thrilled you found this helpful! I sure appreciate you taking time to let me know! (and of course I appreciate that you tuned in!) Have a lovely day~
Thankyou so much! As a "newbie" im having so much trouble trying to fit wigs on my head, despite being vigilent on measuring! Thankyou for the tip on shaving my low nape hair!
Thanks SO SO much for your time and help with wigs...yes, I am new but feel like I am now part of a new sisterhood! 😊Of course it wasn't an easy first step, but I am so glad you helped me.💓
Awww....what a very kind and sweet comment to read! Thank you for taking the time to write/post it. It is very encouraging for me. I appreciate you! You indeed ARE part of a sisterhood.
I am rewriting my comment because it came out so poorly. It is absolutely amazing how you say you were not used to wearing this new wig… It is absolutely gorgeous on you; you happen to be a very beautiful woman in more ways than one. I am very new to wigs, I obsess about them all the time And watch many many RU-vid’s,of which you are my absolute favorite, And I also spend many hours where I should be sleeping going over and over in my head about the concepts. Thank you so much for all that you share.
New to wigs and loving your info, how thorough you are, and that you are able to show us what someone who's not necessarily a pro at this should and can do. Thank you!!! :D
Losing my hair due to chemo and researching, came across this and I now feel much less anxious about wig wearing. I now m=need to source similar f]products in the UK. Thank you
THANK YOU for taking this process SLOWLY! Other videos I’ve watched motor through gluing on a lace wig so quickly they leave out the details, and I can’t keep up. I guess presenters are so used to doing it they forget what it’s like to be new at it. Your step by step demo really helped me and gave me confidence. And I learned new things! (By the way I got some “It Stays” recently and found the ball applicator very difficult, so I transferred it to a small airtight plastic container and I use a tiny stiff art paintbrush to apply it. Works well!).
This is perfection! I hate wig grips and caps because they slide back on me. Gluing down a cap?! Why didnt I think of this. Ha, because Im a newby. THANK YOU.
Thank you. Thank you. We are about the same age and i have decided to try wigs. I bought my first and i like it very much, but it will not stay put. I am going to try what you suggested. My husband at first didn’t like it and my adult children laughed at me. But i am feeling more comfortable wearing one. You are so beautiful and you wear your make up the way i have always. I tried other looks, lord knows i get bored with my looks. Seasons change so i need a change. I have subscribed and will be looking forward many other videos.
Thank you, I've yet to find the wig I want most likely 16 inch maybe shorter with bangs. Yours l👀ks fantastic. I think auburn would l👀k fabulous on you also. ♥️☮️✝️🍀🐞🙏
In just deciding to wear wigs since I've lost some hair and it's thinned out a lot after various surgeries since 2010. My hairstylist had any extremely beautiful one on a few weeks ago and I didn't recognize her it first but heard her voice & what she had on reminded me of what my hair used to look like especially with the curls. Therefore, I'm very, very new to all of this and wanted to get some tips from her but she was with a client. I recently had surgery on one of hands and although i just got the stitches out, it's been tough trying to do my hair. I'm gonna check out more of your videos but definitely wanna thank you so much for sharing these tips etc. you are so beautiful 💜
I'm so upset! Got scammed today with a wig that is from China! I'm so stupid. .. Your videos are just the Best! I have learned so much from you, thank you ! I should have known you can't get a quality wig for $38.00 . Thank you for letting me vent !
Oh Rita I'm so sorry to hear that! I was just wondering if you found the wig scammers through Facebook/Instagram because many women bought from them and received wigs that were substandard. I watched a few victims unbox these wigs on RU-vid and calling these wigs "substandard" was me being generous. They were plastic Halloween wigs that I wouldn't even wear with a costume! You are NOT stupid and you are not alone. Best advice I've received was.... If you're going to ever shop online, get a Paypal account and use it! Paypal refunded everyone who complained and didn't even bother asking for the wigs. Also, don't buy anything through Facebook, Instagram, etc. I have only found one company with good products called "Thrive Cosmetics". The rest are all scams that send you crapp I could've bought on Wish for $2-$8. I hope maybe you can still be get your $$ back. Try Amazon. No joke, but the most realistic wig I own came from Amazon and cost $36! I love my Amazon wigs and they were lace fronts if you can believe it!
@@ritamahoney4131 I have purchased wigs from all over, at all different price points. It is so worth spending the extra $ for a decent wig! Even when I have gotten a wig from Amazon that wasn't much money yet looked good they never lasted long. The quality makes a big difference in how long it lasts. I find the best bets are perusing EBay and finding Brand Name wigs starting at low bids. I have gotten quite a few new in box with tags attached. Last month, a seller I purchased off before had a Zoey by Envy wig. She sent receipt (spent $1400 on sale). A stylist cut bangs in and its a perfect new monotop, lacefront wig for me!
That’s very informative! Thank you so much. I tried a box of those Jon Renau nylon wig caps. By the time I had my wig on and wore it for 5 minutes that Jon Renau nylon cap was completely stretched out and would not snap back to shape. In other words, within 5 minutes, my wig was floating on top of the floating nylon cap. A real waste of money! They should at least hold their shape and hug your head! Maybe I should try the It Stays. But I’m actually very happy with the wig grip
I find you so helpful I’m new to wigs and I too have hair issues and wigs are my choice now so any help is wonderful cause any tip that will save me time and mess ups is wonderful. So keep up the great advice it’s very helpful.
I'm new to this, I lost my hair after my Dad died.. I guess my nerves 😪 I have decided to go the wig route, hoping to get some ideas on what kind of wig to buy that looks real. I appreciate all the info 🥰❣
Thank you so much for this video! You gave me hope that I'll be able to finally wear my wig! I have the same flat head problem of it riding up on me. I'm excited to use It Stays now! Also, my picture is really old and before my hair loss.
❤ Jill Thank you so much. I was hoping you would answer my question and you did with this video.Thank you so much I will need to order some( it stays) .I do not like the band ,like you said and plus it doesn't hold very tightly and I will order the tape. Thank you so so much have a wonderful day .🌺
Thank you for making this video. I have much more confidence wearing my wigs now. I could not figure out how to keep the wig caps from sliding up or down and now I know. Also I feel the same way that you do about the wig grips( headaches) I love the It Stays too.
I am very new to wearing wigs. In fact, I have yet to wear one public. My own hair has thinned so much, that it feels like I only have three hairs on my head. My confidence level is very low with my own hair as well as trying to look normal in a wig. I’m all thumbs. I enjoyed watching this video! What a great help you are in teaching me how to put one on and remove it. My head is also flat on the back and I feel the discomfort of the wig riding up. I especially loved the products you shared. I measured my head the way you’re supposed too. For some reason the wigs don’t fit right. The stocking idea you shared, makes perfect sense with the roll on you used. And yes, the itchies are a bother under the wig. I’m trying to figure out the right style for me. I have naturally curly hair, which I realize cannot be recaptured. I’m looking more at the wavey wigs. I want this to be simple for myself and not so complicated. The wigs are so thick; I’ve purchased a pair of hair thinning scissors to reduce that fake looking fullness. I just want to look natural. I have trouble achieving that! Makes me sad a very unconfident! Marjorie
Thank you I'm wearing wigs now and my cap keeps slipping so I'm looking forward to seeing more videos from you thank you and God bless going on a six-time cancer survivor
I love to watch your videos. You are so helpful, I learn something every time. I would love to see you with your bio hair as you would fix it if not wearing a wig. Thanks and keep showing how to do these things.
I'm new to the wig world. I found your video. Thank you for the information. It's helped me a great deal as a beginner. You're absolutely beautiful. And your hair it's gorgeous no one would ever know I will be continuing watching your videos and getting myself educated. Thanks again, have a great hair day.❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your video! I have been looking for an explanation for a few months now. I was told to just put my hair in a bun and slap the wig on. Well, it keeps on sliding down my forehead and I am constantly moving. Plus it is so hot and itchy. I need to find that sticky stuff, and give that a go, and the nylon thingy. You are so beautiful in your wig, and without it. Thank you!
I am going to try a wig again. This was a great video! Thank you so much. The problems I had with a wig I understand now. Too bad the shop never actually explained thios to me.
This was great! I have been toying with the idea of tape and It Stays. But was scared that it might ruin my lace. Thank you for this very educational RU-vid video. It has helped me tremendously.
Just fell on this video. Recently started to wear wigs due to chemo induced hair loss. Thank you so much for this instruction video. It is quite late whete I live but plan to order products tomorrow. Thank you again Ms Jill.
Great advice. I have trouble with the wig cap. I use the headband and stay wig glue. Afterwards i dip my whole head into the sink. I want to try the wig caps again after watching you. Great wig on you❤
Another wonderful informative video Jill. Thank you. Any chance you would do a make up tutorial and list what cosmetics you use? You look absolutely amazing!
Thanks so much for showing us all the tips that could help us wig wearers. Just wondering if you could sometime demonstrate how you trim your neck hairs so we too could do ours without going to a salon?
I have the same issue with the back of my skull being sort of flat and sometimes, the wig rides up, but I haven’t come across that problem using the wig grip. Guess I’m sold. 👍
So happy I found you ❤ this video is from 3 yrs ago so I’m sure you’ve stepped your game up sense then. This was the video that sold me. I went on this site I’ve been looking at for a while and I purchased a wig. It’s nerve wracking 😂
Great tips Jill! I have the hardest time keeping a wig on, not because of fit, but because i dont really have that occipital bone ledge... my head is kind of flat in the back, so i have been using clips in my bio hair, however they tend to make me itch and be uncomfortable, luckly i can do a small low ponytail that works as that occipital bone lol ... I tried using a wig grip without the ponytail but the wig grip slides right off. So I am going to try your tip and use some It Stays , combined with the wig grip, and my pony tail and see how all of that works !! I think the ponytail and the It stays will help my Wig grip stay on better.
I definitely always recommend measuring your head properly for a wig as the first step of your wig journey. That way you’ll know right out of the gate what size you are. 👍 Especially helpful if you end up being a true petite or a true large. Well, you know now! I know it is still frustrating because not all wig styles are offered in petite or large.
Thank you for this video. I did shave my neck and now I know to apply tape to wig and not neck first. I'm going to try the net next time. Looking forward to loving my wigs. I do like that editors pick you were wearing. Looking forward to seeing your next inspirational video.
I hate to bother you with a silly question, but would you mind sharing what foundation and or power you use for your makeup? Mine gets in the creases and makes it look like I have severe wrinkles and I do not know what to do to stop that. Your makeup looks so pretty. So so pretty. I'm not done watching the video but so far your amazing on the details of how to do this. Thank you so much for your time, and answer if you reply. If not, thank you any ways for reading this. Have a really amazing day! 🤗
I realize this is an older video, but Thank You. I have a similar head shape. This video addresses all the issues I have been having with my wig during chemo.
