In this video I explain the proper mold release mixture to use on latex rubber molds that are used to cast statuary check out my website rubbermoldman.com for more info.
Hi. The caster oil works great--thanks for the tip. What about using it on the outside of the latex mold as a release agent for my epoxy/fiberglass cloth support mold?? What do you use for that step?? My molds are 1'' thick, open face molds--several different shapes , but basically looks like a type of multi cavity mold that they use for casting stone look concrete wall veneer tiles.
In my experience it’s very rare for a mother mold to stick to the outside of the rubber but when it happens I use baby powder in between to help for easy release.

Thanks for the information. What can I use for my rubber molds when storing them? Basically, what kind of homemade recipe would be good and safe for the outside of the rubber mold? We used to use something called MOLD DRESSING. But, they don't sell that product anymore. Thank you in advance for any info you can give me. Take care!
We have never used anything on the molds for storing them, just made sure they were clean and put together, and stored safely ( out of sun or extreme heat and no exposure to petroleum products )
