The OG MPC Studio is way better than the newer Mk2. Even used they’ll still register and work with the updated software (which you’d have a lot more trouble with on a used Maschine) but the older Studio is a lot more useful and mine still holds up
Wow that Ren looks just like my MPCX. Btw I have used the X as the sound card for a year and it’s good. Now it has a Motu sound card via usb to X. I like the series Mr King
Also doesn’t support this thing. Doesn’t work as an audio interface in Big Sur (which is 2 years old!) or later. Anybody who bought this and updated their Mac got screwed
Yup my M1 is not working with Ren and I reached Akai and replied with cold NO. I have studio mk2 but it's basically MPD with extras minus Qlink. Now I have to use my old Toshiba for the Ren, petty. Also why I can't adjust the lights like the Maschine Mk3 I always get blinded by MPC in the dark. Using Akai products is like dealing with the devil. You know its bad but it excites you.
In 2011, Akai reached out to all the social media influencers at MV-Nation, MPC-Forums, Gear Slutz, Future Producers, etc about contributing to a new MPC product. This was the birth of the MPC Software. The MPC Ren was still being spec'd / engineered. So we helped with development and testing of the MPC Software using generic midi controllers and a mouse. Nearly every influencer dropped out of testing within a month. This include the infamous MPC Tutor. He did not support this project one bit. The influencers that heavily contributed this project along with myself were Masada, DJ Hellfire, Joey aka Sounds for Samplers, and Rome. We were in all the forums trying to get feedback from MPC users what they wanted in the MPC Software. But we were met with resistance as Akai was hated in the forums. I got banned from several forums to include MPC-Forums and Gear Slutz for telling the truth about their moderators. These dudes actually wanted Akai to fail. Now some of these. dudes are making money by selling content for MPCs that they wanted nothing to do with. Akai asked the influencers that were onboard what they wanted in the MPC hardware. My feedback was that the MPC 5000 was a great piece of hardware. I suggested that they model it after the MPC 5000. But the thing I hated about MPCs after the MPC 2000 was the terrible jog wheel. The engineers listened to my feedback. Thus the MPC Ren as well as MPCX has the best jog wheels of any MPC IMHO. ...back to the software.....it was based on the MPC 5000 smh. But due to time constraints they started cutting out a lot of features that have existed in MPCs since the MPC 60. For 10 years, I fought for the inclusion of these legacy MPC features. And we still don't have several of them today. Features such as track tempo automation, track re-arrange, song loop, auto increment sample assign (a key Just Blaze complaint), record pad duration in List Edit, Time Signature Edit, etc are still non existent. The heads at Akai asked me to give them a detailed list of every legacy function that is missing. I spent days writing this up. Not to toot my own horn but I am the sole reason why many of the MPC legacy features are in these units. I spent 8-10 hours every day for several years helping with the development of the MPCs you guys use today.
