Thanks Travis. Just finished removing all my Tuya devices from the cloud. Flashed them all with ESP Home and loving the control it gives me. I am in Thailand and the Tuya stuff would always give me issues reconnecting in either of the LOCAL Tuyas after power outages, and they're quite frequent here. Luckily the cloudcutter exploit worked on most but a few I had to flash with a BDM frame and probes.

Thank you very much fro this great walk through! It popped out in my recommendations with the perfect timing. I have recently started to have major issues with my local tuya devices. All of them started to randomly disconnect and connect back a couple of times per average 5 minutes which was very frustrating. As a result, the response time of the devices was very delayed and I was losing my mind and looking for a better solution. I started considering swapping all my devices communication modules with ESP ones, which was not very great and it implies a lot of work. Thanks to your video I have converted all (except one that is hard to access) my tuya devices to ESPHome and I am very satisfied with the result. It took me a day of work and tinkering around, but it is definitely worth it!

Great guide, thank you. Frustrating though i have tried this on 2 different branded powerboards and no luck. I have tried search by brand, firemware version and using tuya generic exploits but it always fails on the second AP reconnect.

Does this work for the esp32 devices that don't work with tuya-convert anymore? Or are those still stuck in tuya land?
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY Год назад
I don't recall Tuya using esp32 but maybe one rare find. But this is only for Beken chips. You'd would have to manually flash your esp ones that are patched.

@@digiblurDIY sorry, I think I mean esp8266, and for something like the novostella 20w floodlight I can't really access the pads to manually flash it without destroying it. I have an older one that I tasmotized, but the new one has the patched fw so now I'm stuck with localtuya for now.

Travis - great guide and excellent work! Unfortunately my first device is getting stuck at 15:44 when it should respond to the firmware calls. They just never happen - any thoughts/experience?

It does indeed. Gets all through to the wlan0: AP-ENABLED line and then just sits there forever.

once you have esphome on them you can upload tasmota onto them instead

Thanks for the detailed video and doc. I am trying to flash "DS03 Fan and Light Smart Switch BK7231N v2.1.6" which is one of the devices listed in the doc but I can't find the profile for it. LT Chip Tool does have the device in the list but shows an error that the profile is not available. Can you please share the profile or point me to the right direction.
