If I had a nickel for every time a Hermit went to TNT mine for ancient debris and accidentally found the rail loop for the mail system I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

In my city there was an old secret tunnel that connected one of the small palaces with the outside. The tunnel was probably older, but the main user is said to have been Napoleon's brother, who had a house in the city.

Ancient Debree, along with all Netherite items, is lava-proof when in item form so there was no chance of you losing mined debree to careless mining.

i dont think debris is immune to lava, only netherite ingots, weapons, and armour.

Not true... as an item sprite, like from being mined or dropped, ancient debris, netherite ingots, snd even netherite blocks burn and despawn.

@@michaelglover9214Not really. All dropped Netherite-related items, be it Ancient Debree, scrap, or pieces of armor, are inmune to lava and fire, the one exception being Lodestone. The only way to destroy Netherite items as of now is dropping them on a cactus or the void. You can technically destroy containers with Netherite items inside like a Shulker Box using fire but that's about it.

If I remember correctly, Cubfan already did a myth busting video researching which method would be better for finding ancient debris. I'm pretty sure his conclusion was that TNT mining is faster than bed mining or going with a pickaxe.

I feel like it's faster, but not so much faster that it justifies that cost of crafting all the TNT compared to just branch mining, especially when I don't have a proper mob farm yet to get all the gunpowder..

@@WelsknightGaming That's fair, using the pickaxe is way cheaper since you don't have the farms yet, plus it might seem quicker since you're actively doing something, like moving and braking blocks

@WelsknightGaming He did it twice now. Tnt is faster, if you have automated tnt. Otherwise, he said mine is in a straight line, but keep turning whenever you hit lava, basalt, etc. I guess branch mining isn't great in the Nether.

Really? My memory of that video is that he found that simply mining in a straight line used the least resources/pickaxe durability for the most debris per time allotted. I may be mis-remembering ... might have to go back and re-watch.

I love watching a medieval themed build because forcing medieval themed blocks, items and mobs into a different theme always requires a large suspension of disbelief. I hope this is the season you stick with it… once the castle is done, I’m hoping your kingdom expands as you rake in the levy from your loyal servant’s permits.

Here''s an idea to float to the other hermits: A sign somewhere public in the shop that has the last date the shop was stocked. example: Last Stocked: 03/04 (year is optional and format of the day and month is also optional) This way there's less guessing about when stock was last placed. not to mention give a bit of time frame on how fast things sell.

I think the best way to protect the mail system is actually to mine around it. A tntn'd out perimeter maybe 10-15 blocks away from the main cavity. Basically the same as netherite mining, and there will be a netherite prize.

Long time lurking subscriber, and Wels I gotta tell you: you have really grown to be my favourite hermit this season. And that’s all because of the vibe. Nothing extravagant or over the top, just vibes with lovely soundtracks. I’d say keep it up, but instead, you do you and I’ll just enjoy whatever pops up. (Also, do you have like a Spotify playlist or something with the lovely country tunes? A lost cold swede just dipping my toes into country and bluegrass the last year)

You should model your kelp shop like those refillable propane tanks: a shulker of dried kelp for fuel for a super cheap price (since it's so easy to farm) but they have to reuse the same shulker. The shulker full of dried kelp could either be sold at a higher price than the refill station, or if that violates the permits they might have to just bring their own shulker.

that´s a massive difference between branch mining and tnt mining. You just have to have fire resistance and start lighting the TNT from the back - they turn into an entity while lit, you can walk through it, just light and run through it till the beginning. Every other block is the best too.

I think kelp blocks can be used as furnace fuel. With the kelp permit you could open a super smelter shop. Sell the kelp blocks as a fuel source for the super smelter.

I love how this season is most hermits’ first experience with the netherite smithing template change. Everyone got netherite before the change last season I guess so only those who dove into the whole template thing last season had it in mind. You aren’t the only one who discovered the change upon going to upgrade your armor and gear.

Just want to mention, I've been finding it handy to bring 1-16 buckets to deal with lava when doing Debris mining. It makes dealing with lava quicker and easier in general since you usually get it in single sources.

Dig your tunnel, turn 180 to the direction you tunneled, place and light your tnt as you run back to where you started for much quicker debris mining.

for ancient debris, usually do a 1 stack worth tunnel long then at the end, place tnt in front light move place, rinse and repeat. If you do it quick enough you won't event get caught in explosion and it's way quicker. You wont run into chain explosion pause either.

Digging your debris blast tunnels along a chunk border yields significantly more as you'll expose a large portion of 2 chunks instead of one. The last time I went debris mining I got something like a stack and a half of debris from the amount of TNT Wel's used here

I love the way the permit trades work out for you. First giving Tango all the work with the redstone for basically all the profits the permit makes, and now the trade with Etho. Six permits are quite a lot unless their items are somewhat connected, so narrowing it down to a few high value ones and profit shares is a good way to go. Also would have been a crime if the redstone permit didn't make its way to Tango.

20:14 Just a friendly reminder that all forms of netherite, including ancient debris, doesn't burn in lava/fire; it treats lava like water and will float. So lava only poses a threat to personal safety :)

14:28 if you dig one block down and place a tnt and ignite it with a block of redstone you get about 100 sand minus the 4 for making the tnt. Space them 6/7 blocks apart. That way you can just jump down the first hole and run along, picking up sand and the redstone blocks.

Bed blasting produces a slightly larger aoe. If you use beds at a slighlty higher Y level, say 16, you will pull around 50+ ancient debris an hour, assuming you brought enough shulkers full of beds.

I like the gold trim, it suits you! First, looking through Iskall’s chests to find items was hilarious. I suppose once you give free for all access to your base on one season/server, there’s no putting the egg back in the shell xD It’s especially funny since False had been doing the same thing right before you arrived. I enjoyed you wheeling and dealing with Iskall though if you’re ever needing it, just ask for the IskallMAN discount. He can’t resist. lol I forgot to make a comment on your previous video where you asked Scar for some terraforming help. It was cool to see Scar this way as his content has been honed for kids over the last couple of years. To each their own but I thought it was a really cool collab and the ceiling terraforming turned out amazing.

Ethos has a technique for netherite mining with tnt, simply place tnt in fromt of you while facing you escape, light tnt, walk through the lit tnt and place another, continue process all the way down your escape tunnel

Wels, go talk to Cub. Hes got ALL the stats on X vs Y mining style for Z resource. Hes a madlad as im sure you already know, anyways he did a ton of mining over the past few seasons and gathered a ton of data and figured out all the rates. Might be an interesting conversation and maybe a reason for a small colab.

i dont know if tnt mining is more efficient when looking at the resources invested but it is definitely faster if you use the aa strat where you place the tnt every 4 or 5 blocks and light it up immediately using off hand, that way you have a straight tunnel at the right level without unstable chain reaction.

Finding netherite is easy and people over complicate it. Mine in a straight line along a chunk border with an efficiency 5 pickaxe. When you hit lava, go a different direction.
