What did we learn today? 1) Car keys are the best tool 2) It's gonna take more than new pickups to fix up your tone :D Rock on my dude!! I did prefer the new pickups though. A bit more clarity especially with higher gain. But the sound is not drastically different.
Cool guitar! Cool seeing you hangin' out in good ole Earle Teat's too. Love that store, and I try to get a visit in, every time I get up there. And of course, who doesn't love Duncan Pups? They're amazing. I think I prolly would have thrown a set of Gibsons in that thing. But it doesn't really matter a lot, once you get into that range of pickup. That guitar was killer before - and now it's even better. Sweet! Cool vid. Rock on.
I have a couple of Gibsons with some nice pickups so I wanted something different. I have another Epi with Super Distortions in is so this I wanted more PAF on steroids vibe. Love me some Earle Teat music! Thanks for the kind words!
Awww, that first strum gave me that good funny feeling right away, you know what I mean. The zebra bobbins look nice too, which as we all know makes the guitar sound better because "we hear with our eyes." (Edit- I feel really old for recognizing "Jessie's Girl" after three chords.)
@@GearGasms 🎶"... but lately something's changing and it ain't hard to define, Jessie's got himself a girl and I wanna make her mine."🎶 C'mon Rick, don't do your bro like that. Btw the great Neil Geraldo (Mr. Pat Benetar) did the session guitar parts on the Working Class Dog album. Rick's not bad, he can play well enough to pass if he's been practicing and has help from a real guitarist to play the hard stuff. Kinda like, uh, us? 🤣
I've lived in Delaware all my life and never even heard of Delmar I got me a cheap Epiphone lespaul Only $250 and I love it It's starting to pull me away from my cheap Ibanez gio which I also love Im so conflicted
@@GearGasms in Wilmington U got a southern accent sir I got an Epiphone 100 e1 I love it But most probably wouldn't as it's a low end guitar but I've never even played a guitar that cost more than 250 so idk what it's like on the more expensive end But it can't be that great
@@GearGasms I knew it .... I ain't got nobody to Jam with on the porch U could be a good tag team partner but the problem is I don't know very many chords bcuz I'm trash but I do know some other stuff ...like I can play guitar n chew gum at the same time so I'm pretty talented
Well, I guess my ears are not as discriminating ! I own two Epi JB Les Paul’s, (Normburst and Lazarus) one Epi LP Florentine, one recent Epi inspired by Gibson Figured ES-335, A Memphis Gibson ES-175 and an original 1979 Kalamazoo built Gibson ES-335. I run them all on Thomastic JS110 - JS111 flat wounds! Frankly, I will stack those new Epi pick ups against the PAF’S IN MY $$$ Gibsons played through my big Twin Reverb! Each guitar has it’s own distinctive sound and sustain but, I don’t think pick up upgrades are required with the new breed of Epi pick ups! It is evidently in the “Ears” of the beholder!😂
I agree about the new ones. The made in Korea Epiphones from the mid 90s are great in every way except the pickups. This swap was subtle but I may change pots and caps too
Hey Killer sound on the new pickups. Question did you just change the pickups or did you change the pots/caps and the wiring? I has an Epiphone Les Paul standard and I swapped out the pickups for Seymour Duncan Hot Rod Set! a Jazz in the neck and a JB in the bridge. I just had only the pickups changed. That didn't do much to change my sound.
I need to go down their just to get them to string my guitar up Bcuz I can't do it It's not like the old days u now have to take the back part of the guitar apart just to restring it but I can't remove the A string it's stuck n I'm pissed
@@GearGasms honestly lol I don't know it's unmarked and I've had it so long I don't remember if I had to guess I'd say it's a glarry or something gay like that
Car keys are indeed the best tool for guitar mods. I have all of those tools as well. But there is a higher chance of me soldering my fingers together than correctly wiring up a new set of pickups--or anything else for that matter😂. Celebrate mediocrity!
