From Canada. I just got the Aventon Soltera - 7 speed. From $1899 to $900. Could not pass that up. First e-bike. Love it. I'm using it to commute to work.
I was all set to buy the Aventon Level.2. Then I did a test drive on the Soltera.2 and liked it better. So I bought it. The only upgrade I bought was a suspension seatpost, to smooth out road bumps. I’m loving my ebike.
Dang it! I wish I would have found this video earlier. My husband and I just received the matte black and yellow step over. He are 5’4 and 5’6. The step through would probably been easier to get on. Still happy we bought them. Thanks for the review
Hey bike manf, we need blinkers in the FRONT. I ride to work, mostly on trails. The only intersection I really need a blinker on is because I an waiting on oncoming cars and they do not know if I am going straight or turning.
Adjustable stems are pretty cheap. If you are looking for a bike that has everything, you might want to check out this bike. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oDsC5WAAnWg.htmlsi=dzyFBUDUCqJwQe-k
@@user-qx1gj4uk2o I sent you to the wrong bike link. Check out this one, its like the Soltera 2 although it doesn't have a throttle, but it does have an adjustable stem and 15 levels of Pedal Assist. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xhzYhZSTYpg.htmlsi=w7_3tc0FDcjVrFv4
the best review for this bike out there keep up the good work . I am really considering getting this bike because of the light weight so that I can carry it over the stairs however I live next to a very steep hill and not too sure if this bike can handle it because of the small motor . I managed to climb this hill with my E skate with no issues but the board has 2 * 500 watt motors
Thanks for comment and kind words. Hmmmmm... that is a good question. The thing you need to look at is, with a 350w motor, it might not make it up the hill throttle only, but when you add pedaling with it, that gives much more climbing power.
@@scotthardesty just ordered the Soltera .2 Goal was to get an ebike to assist getting up the hill (12% grade) home, but to use as a regular pedaling bike most of the time. It seems this bike will fulfill that need
I have the 7-speed shimano revoshift on my regular bike. I like the gearing of it a lot. But a big problem with it is the chain derailer is it is very sensitive. The chain falls off very easily, and when it does, no matter what you do, it won't come unstuck. It cost 100 bucks to have fixed at REI. BTW happy Thanksgiving (at least for me)!
Interesting. So far, the Revoshift has not given me any issues. Since these are newer bikes, maybe they figured out the issue and fixed them on the latest models. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I did.
Great review! Thanks for your service, not as long as you served but fellow Ft Bragg vet here also 😎 I own a Rad Rover 6 Plus that is very heavy and rides like a tank, but I'm looking for something lighter and more manoeuvrable. Would this last a single charge for say a 16 mile commute, but in a more hilly city say like SF or Seattle? I like what I see so far but otherwise was going to compare the Gazelle bikes, but I'm spoiled on the 750w capacity I have with my Rad Power and have a bit of staying power concern with the Soltera 2
I do like this bike but I totally get it with the 750w beasts. Once of my favorite bikes is my Aventure 2. Also, thank you for service as well. I think it would last a good 16 miles with hills but I don't have too many in Chicago. My favorite lightweight bike is the Velotric Thunder 1 ST (T1ST) that I did a review on. You might want to take a look at that one as well.
Nice review! I have several Aventon Soltera reviews on my channel too, I can’t wait to get the new model although I really wish they would have increased the speed.
I wish I had your Aventon hookup, I’m having a hard time getting ahold of the new model. Did they send it to you ahead of the release, knowing that you would give a great breakdown of the features?
@@scotthardesty I hear ya, you put that work in over the years, and they recognized that. It’s good to know that it’s possible to get that recognition if you really work hard and build a large following over time.
I just did a video about the latest speeds of these bikes. My Soltera was able to be unlocked to 25mph but it doesn't actually go that fast. Maybe it will for you.
Very helpful review! I'm really leaning towards this bike as my 1st Ebike replacing my Specialized Sirrus Carbon Comp. It checks all the boxes for me except I do occasionally venture on gravel and would like a bit of shock absorption. I would probably add a Redshift StopShock stem & seat post (already have those on my Sirrus) and wider tires 40 or 42 mm. Do you think there would be any issues going to the wider tires? What would you say is the closest competition in a sub $2,000 road / occasional gravel bike that is under 50 lbs. Thanks for your reviews.
My adventure first gen use to go 35 unlocked to 32. Now hard set at 28 after connecting to app. Aventon dropped speed a months ago, so if you were able like me a month ago to go 32 plus don't connect to app or your screwed..
between velotric t1 st plus or soltera 2 - which would you choose for casual city and trail riding. i am Looking for a light ebike with power as a range extender.
There is no information listed on the Aventon site, but what would you say the tire clearance is on the fork and frame? Could you go to a 700c x 45mm tire?
@@scotthardesty they told me 40mm on their website, but I'm not sure if that is the recommended max based on the battery set up, or the actual frame max. Would be a bit abnormal to build a bike with the tire spec almost maxed out from the factory.
Your reviews on Aventon ultimately made me switch to them as a brand. I own the Level.2 and LOVE it beyond measure. This being said, I'm not in the market for a new ebike, but I have my eyes on Aventon in general. Keep it up with your reviews, I watch all of them regardless because I like the simplicity in your review style.
I ended up buying a Redshift suspension seat post as it does not have that huge area under the seat. I have the Suntour as well but for bikes like these, the redshift is my choice. amzn.to/3HHy2ni
Are ebikes usually this easy to ride when the battery dies or if the motor is off? Just curious as someone who generally forgets to charge his stuff lol
Depends on the bike. Since since those is lightweight with small smooth rolling tires, it makes super easy to ride this bike with no power. Other bikes with wider tires are going to be much harder. I have seen in the Facebook groups where people ride this bike without power then use the power when they get tired.
Thanks brother. I was close, just yesterday, to pulling the trigger on the ST but held off when the Solera 2 popped up. The throttle on the S.2 is the biggest draw for me but not sure how much of an advantage it would be overall. I thin the S.2 / ST comparison works be a great video and, I think, you’d be the first!
@@robertcarr2503 I do like the throttle and I love the white with black accents, I just filmed a Soltera / Soltera.2 video (needs editing) but was literally thinking yesterday about the T1ST comparison video.
Got one last week and really love how it handles, very nimble, comfortable seat etc. I ride mostly on packed gravel railtrails. Can anyone confirm if 700c 40 tires fit. Or any recommendations that will perform better?
@@scotthardesty Somewhere while researching I came across an official Aventon response to the question and they said 40's are the maximum recommended tire
These are the Soltera fenders. Originally I had them with my original Soltera 7. So I put them on the new one. Keep checking the Aventon website, hopefully they will have more soon.
Not a fan of those tires, look a bit too thin for an E-Bike I can imagine they will either get more flats or lose air faster depending on how hard you ride or use throttle only. It’s a nice looking bike though and lighter than the Aventure and Levels. Just wouldn’t trust those tires.
Since I have knee and back issues, if it wasn't for e-bikes, I probably wouldn't be biking. I feel ebikes have helped get people who wouldn't normally be able to get out and enjoy biking to finally be able to do it. I know I don't show it but my left knee is jacked and so is my lower back from my 26 year military service. With that being said, a cadence sensor is way less taxing on my body opposed to a torque sensor. Since I have to workout to keep my injuries at bay, I do enjoy a torque sensor to get in a "decent" workout.
Can you just use these as ordinary bikes as well? Can you shut them off completely and use them on human power alone with not electricity? A normal bike?
I am also a huge fan of hydraulic brakes but the ones Aventon puts on the Soltera are top notch mechanical ones. Levers feel great so I really couldn't complain.
Light and budget friendly - I like it! Did I mention light? In case the battery dies and I want to pedal home? And use my existing bike rack? Great starter e-bike!
This may be a stupid question but is the battery the same as the first version of the soltera? I was thinking of swapping them out just in case I run out of juice on my commute. Thank you
