...Bob, I purchased the old one (amazon indicated it was the last one in stock!) 2 weeks before you uploaded this video...i come back 2 weeks later to see that the adapter is available...it is about $4 more combined with the first one, but worth it to have the adapter as a backup...i also took your recommendation for the radials...fantastic! ...really appreciate all of your tips and tricks because they work! 73 de AJ4D!

Thanks for watching 12 Things I Like. Yep, I have the new one on the benchtop now, working on testing and videoing. Gabil just keeps improving this; I really like what they done to improve the radial connection.

Mine arrived today. One suggestion. G Gabil should include one more ring and another grounding lug. This would allow us to keep 3 lugs on each post.

The newest iteration now has plugs directly on the sides of the antenna mount, where you can screw in your radials. I actually just bought their antenna system, got it today, and am hoping to try it out this weekend!

Great video! I bought this tripod before the upgrade and I have an interesting note: be careful using it with a 17 feet whip, the antenna will fall. I lost one 17 feet whip trying to use it with this tripod. It's not the maker's fault, it's mine for trying to use it with an antenna it was not designed for. It may work with a mild breeze but just a bit of wind will cause your antenna to fall off, if your 17 feet whip is fully extended. But it's an overall good product Best 73s

I used the tripod with the MFJ -1979 today during an activation and it fell over 3 times. I was fortunate the tripod was on grass, so the whip wasn't damaged. The Wolf River Coil tripod is a much better choice when wind is an issue.

G Gabil Radio has listed the 3/8 X 24 post as an accessory in their Amazon store; this will allow the prior SO-239 only version to have the upgrade to 3/8 X 24. amzn.to/3vJQerf

G Gabil says they have a shipment leaving Taiwan tomorrow, and hope Amazon has them back in stock by end of next week. He said the time at Amazon to receive and place items to stock is not predictable, so late next week is somewhat of a guess. He confirmed the two recent RU-vid videos sold them out.

@@HOAHamRadio Thanks sir. I guess I will wait as I already have a spike I built (your design) that will handle 3/8"x24. So I'm not without the means to deploy my WRC Sporty Forty. You should d a video on the WRC Shorty Forty. I sold my other WRC stuff after getting the Sporty Forty. I use it with the MFJ 17' whip and I made a jumper to bypass the coil for 20 - 10/6.

I’ll be ordering this to add to my field kit. I got the 7350 for Christmas and the female banana clip lugs shipped today so I should have the radials built next week. Bought the Meuller clips yesterday and got the wire for Christmas too. I ordered the 3/8x24 adapter for Christmas but I guess I will be returning it as it isn’t needed with the new tripod setup. I am curious how many radials you use with that antenna and how long they are.

W4MKH I put three wires in each of my banana plugs, each wire is 16 1/2 feet long. Normally on 20 meters I use one set; so 1 banana plug, 3 wires, each 16 1/2 feet long. On 40 meters, I usually add a second set of 3.

How many radials do you need for 20meter

Radial length and quantity depend on many factors, so its not necessarily a simple question answer on what you should do. What I use is 3 radials 16 1/2 feet long, this works well for me.

TangoOscarMike, they told me mid to late June, which is a pretty large range as supply chain management goes. I believe they over sold during a recent promotion and are struggling to catch up.
