@@kiki29073 True, I feel horrible by saying this, but my 19 year old parrot is more than my dog ever was to us. Or rather, we all feel more strongly about him, since he's so much smarter as well.
These are no pets in any case. These parrots are an endangered species. No one should have them. In their native countries is illegal and considered a crime to catch them. Anybody who got them, came from an illegal source. This behavior is destroying their species.
@@joseredc they're bred in a controlled environment. They're not captured from the wild lol. I'm not saying they should be kept but you also shouldn't be spreading misinformation like that.
They are not lucky. Buying wild animals helps to increase the number of criminals who remove them from their natural habitat to sell their young or even take their young from the nest and keep them in captivity, thereby reducing their numbers in the wild to extinction, as is already happening with some species due to the illegal trade in wild birds. Not buying them helps reduce wildlife trafficking, the only illicit trade that is more profitable than drugs and weapons. Lucky is to be free.
He raised them since they were babies, so you know they're very close..they look at him as their mother. Kudos for all the hard work. Sure , it wasn't easy .
So lovely that they have their own room, sadly some Macaws get to spend a solitary life in a cage...these birds look magnificent, clearly loved and clearly very well taken care of...beautiful...🦜

Clipping wings? That's the least about a problems for macaws. I just want to know about the amount and fury of the poop that those birds put out because my two macaws do great at that. They're wonderful at fertilizing plants. And also they're amazing at turning any stick of furniture or woodwork in your house into toothpicks. He ought to show all the toothpicks they make all the time from your furniture and woodwork. bwahahaha
I don't clip wings on my Amazon parrot either...he's old boy...no need to...he always lands on my hand...most intelligent parrot ever...once bird knows you.

Me too! I love my conure's but, most people don't take the time to train them. Plus, the first time they get bit, they just stop trying with them and get rid of them! So many beautiful birds are gave up for rehoming, because their owners didn't fully do their research on care, training, etc... before purchasing them!! It's so sad

Its not advisable to 'whip' the birds into a room like that. It sure isn't instilling confidence in those birds, especially the younger ones, in their handler. But thats the least of the concerns with this gentleman's actions One or more of these birds could have fallen to the floor or flown into a wall, a window or even back down the stairs and suffered a serious injury. As is the subject of the video, the birds are just being introduced to the room/its contents. They arent familiar with it. Birds are Prey animals and 'surprising' and/or startling them is not a good idea. Their brains are hard-wired to assume the worst.. As much as we'd like to pretend, birds are not our children. They don't think like us and even hand-raised birds still have a 'wild bird brain'. A sudden shock to even a large bird can have very serious consequences.

You don't know if these birds have been housed in this environment for a long time and this video was a merely set up, so it "appears" as if its the very first time, that these juvenile B&G macaws have witnessed this room. They ALL appeared VERY adept at going to their very own spots on the perches, and not one of them appeared stressed. These are happy, very well adjusted young birds, evident by the color of their eyes and the "baby" bird look. I've owned macaws all of my adult life, I currently have 2 and often board other birds. I know macaw body language like the back òf my hand. Please share with us your experience with the macaws that you own and your macaw behaviorist PhD. Thank you and have a spectacular day! 🤗😘

I used the same method to teach my fully hand reared baby cockatoos how yo fly. worked well and they always seemed to love it. after decades they still regard me as mommy and dome still come to my bed in the morning birds are the most loyal. they own you ! not the other way around
