Tools Required
1) Phillips Head Screwdriver
2) 24MM & 6mm Sockets
3) #30 Torx (tool provided with the DW735 for blade changes works fine)
4) #4 & #hex5 key or driver
5) Snap Ring Pliers (compression and expansion if possible)
6) Rubber Mallet
8) Several wood blocks
If you are comfortable changing your oil, this upgrade is in your wheelhouse! It's very simple and straight forward. Actual time to upgrade should be 45-60 minutes with all the proper tools. The DW735 is a powerhouse benchtop planer with a very robust and solid design. It is for sure engineered to be a workhorse in any small shop. In my opinion, the only flaw in the design of this machine is the lack of a helical cutter head right from the factory. I have 1000's of feet of hardwoods through this planer already with no issues and it is as powerful as they day it came into the shop new. I have used machines with the Shelix cutterhead and it is a SERIOUS upgrade over the OEM straight cutters.
