i have got an old sony vaio laptop from 2005 running windows 10, i had to upgrade the stock software(windows vista) to windows 7 then windows 10, computer is still very slow, but if i let it warm up for about 10 minutes it does well. i never changed or upgraded the parts of this pc, so everything is the same. it was still very hard to find a free version of windows 7 in the process because i did this in 2023!

I have a very similar model to this VAIO, and I made very similar upgrades to it. RAM was upgraded to 8GB. But I had to use a 240GB SSD as they are expensive. The upgrade costed a total of approx. £30. The upgrade was well worth it BTW, I even use it as my main computer. Yes, 8gb is the official Sony maximum but the laptop does work with 16gb, I've got 16gb installed in a slightly older Sony VAIO VPCF2 and 12GB in the 17 inch version of the laptop in the video (SVE17)
