Upgrading Epiphone Les Paul Guitar HumBuckers To ProBucker Pickups 

Sounded like the pup selector was upside down because the bridge sounded full of tone like a neck position pup would be. Vice-versa for the neck selection.

Would have been nice to hear a before and after for comparison

I changed my ProBuckers to Tonerider Rocksong open coil zebra Alnico II Pickups and im soo happy i did. Now my Epi LP looks and sounds better than ever!

I was just wondering if you had any difficulty getting the pickup wires with the Quick Connect through the wire channel into the control cavity. It didn't look like it but it was in super fast mode! Is there any tricks or anything to getting it through? Thanks.

Really appreciate this video Karl. I just got a 2006 Les Paul Classic and the bridge pickup doesn't work. Might make sense to just replace all the guts like this. Cheers!

Great video. Need to rewire a Les Paul which is totally stripped of electronics - just hollow wood. Plan to use these - installation looks easy but maybe you made it look that way! Did you need to earth the electronics to the wire connected to the bridge? Sounds great!

If You can remember: How hard or easy was it to get the wiring with adapters from toggle switch through to the other controls?

Super video!! I've just received back after 34 years my old Washburn falcon ! I fitted EMG 85 pickups to it in the early 80s and gave away the originals (idiot) so I'm thinking of buying this kit to drop straight in, then I could sell the EMGs as a drop in kit, I really don't like the EMGs , yes they sustain for hours and have lots of output but for the cleaner stuff there's no character to them, I'm looking for a more versatile sound like my Les Paul std

Sorry if this is a basic question ,I have a similar situation and if you get the new push pull pots and the pickups can you take the old ones out and put the new ones in without soldering anything? Also the old ones same deal did you have to cut or unsolder or just unplug? Basically I want to put the old ones on another guitar.

I have a 1996 MIK Les Paul. I purchased basically the same kit but with the zebra pickups. Did you pre drill out the holes in the body to get the quick connects to fish through? I basically will have to cut or unsolder the quick connects.

Just done this to mine. Super easy! Did you solder in a grounding wire. The old pups were grounded to the stop bar post, but I’m not sure if that’s necessary with these. There isn’t any noise.

I bought a 2019 quilt top pro that came with these "probuckers". I found them to be thin and weak. Not total $hit but not "Gibson -Thick". I replaced them with cheap "Dragonfire" Vintage A2 buckers. Extra hot wound.... Makes for thick sounds in split-mode. Only cost $40. I wish I had gone with the A5 version as the low end still sounds like it's coming from under water. I popped the cover off the original neck pickup and flipped the magnet Peter Green style. It "works" but wasn't for me. I've reinstalled the dragonfire in the correct polarity but it's very muddy. I'm thinking about swapping back to the Probucker as the weaker pickup would help solve the problem. In retrospect, as I'm typing this.... I'm thinking that turning down the bass on the amp would help too. lol. My point here was if you're going for that Gibson sound, buy good pickups the first time around and save yourself some time.

Those bar chords sounded so good but I think its because you were strumming with a soft had and a soft pick.

I really so not see the point of switching out one set of epiphome pickups for another epi set as the improvement is minimal . It would be better to go with a set of Burstbuckers 2 and 3 or a 57 classic set . Or even a 57 neck and A BB3 in the bridge used burstbuckers and 57 classics are very plentiful and can be had for great prices if your patient Epis sound fantastic with Gibson pickups

I have a set of Probuckers arriving in the mail. I ordered it because of the coil split pots (push pull), not because of the pickups. My question is how good are the Probuckers? I have a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates 4 conductor I was planning to use for the bridge . To use the Seymour Duncan I would have to order some quick connect attachments. Do you think I should use the Probucker in the bridge or use my Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. By the way can that Probucker sticker come off the pickup cover, or is it permanent?

Hey...great video...the only thing though is I heard that Epiphone pickups are not sold online and that the ones you see on eBay are from sellers un China and they are copies or fakes if you will.....not genuine Probucker pickups.

Didn't see you solder the earthing wire from the tailpiece back on to the back of the tone pot. Did you just miss that step out?

Probuckers are epiphone pick ups. Why not put Burst Buckers in instead of another set of epi pick ups?

Hi, sorry I don't want to seem like one of them trolling dudes that talk shit but from your sound test it seems like your rhythm and treble switch is the wrong way around. When your switch was down you were getting fat warm tones and when it was up you were getting thin twangy tones. It should be the opposite. Maybe you wired it the wrong way round but maybe you can loosen your selector switch and if you have enough wire on it you can just spin it 180 degrees. Also there's a big volume drop on your bridge pickup so you need to adjust the height of both of them until you get a nice balance. Check out some videos because if they are too high or too low they will sound crap. Best of luck.
