Most bugs will pop if you heat them up or set them on fire because of their exoskeleton, it builds up pressure inside their body

You should really have a look at any of the games in the Katamari series. It's a game similar to this, the more you eat the bigger you get, but in some levels if you manage to grow huge then you'll start picking people and building then pieces of land and all the clouds then into space collecting things. I can't say its convincing but its worth a look anyway
