I wanted to take you along as I completely redid my Gaming Room! It all started with a few ideas and I am still kindve shocked with how well it turned out! Like I said in the video, I will always be changing things in my setup to make it all work and look better, this setup isn't perfect, but I hope it helps you and inspires your own ideas for your setups.

I got it at Lowe's. It is Sherwin Williams Peppercorn HGSW1491. Just be warned that if you do not have a lot of lighting in your room it will make it really dark! With my LED soft box lights it looks good in there, but with just the light from the ceiling fan it is too dark!

just ordered all; the parts to make this desk. Its exactly what i've been trying to find so thanks! Only thing i did different was ordered shorted butcher block counter tops from home depot that I will stain. The 74" versions here were going to be too large for my spot, HD offered them in multiple sizes for comparable prices. Thanks again for the video.

That looks great. I was looking for computer desks (all in one) for a while, but they had all their pros/cons, and I wasn't sure... This looks very clean and sturdy. Thanks for the inspiration.

For those foam sound panels you should have just gotten some poster board, cut accordingly, glue/use some type of adhesive to mount the panels to the poster board except for the corner panels, mount the board using the T screw thing where those corner panels aren’t, then finally glue the corner panels over top of the T screws. Would have kept those shiny screws from standing out.

They discontinued that exact color. So if you go on Ikeas website and look up Alex drawers, you will find what colors they currently sell.

Not in stock at IKEA in Houston, TX. Delivery from 2,000 miles away is way too expensive. I always seem to have this issue with IKEA. Oh well, there's still Home Depot.

I got my everything i need for the desk, i just don’t know how to drill lmao. So can you just tell me exactly what you used to drill in the legs, and be specific please. Thank you, also awesome video, and setup.

I just found a drill bit that was a a little smaller than the screws. Measured and marked with a pencil, (and i actually put the risers on the drawers and made sure they were straight and even, and then marked where the holes should go while holding the riser in place), drilled with the bit to make a pilot hole, and then screwed in the screws.

For people with average height, DO NOT add "desk riser". Alex is 70cm high. Karlby is almost 4cm thick. Together the height is already 74cm. 73-75cm is the standard height for the majority. Unless you are 190cm and above, adding a 10 cm desk riser will make you very uncomfortable over a long period of sitting. This is my personal opinion.

I haven’t had any issues, but I wouldn’t sit on it. Velcro strips will lock it down though.

Great setup, loved it. How does the countertop hold the weight of the mounts? Is it countertop screwed to those legs?

I haven’t had any issues with the monitors being clamped to the countertop, and the countertop is just resting on the legs. Again, I haven’t had any problems, but you can add velcro to the legs to lock it to the countertop. 👍

Love the set up, but isn't the addition of the risers making it too tall for you to sit and work? I was looking at the same setup. The alex drawer is 27 1/2 tall, then add the karlby - which is another 1 1/2 tall. How tall are the arms on your chair? Are you resting your forearms on the desktop? Is it awkward? Trying to get a better idea before delving deeper into Ikea.

Yes it is just sitting there. It doesn’t move and i can lean mu arms on it, but if you try to sit on it or bump it with your hips it will move just a little bit. It doesn’t seem like it will ever fall off or anything, but you can get velcro strips and itll never move.

I love the L shape desk setup and I also want to do the IKEA desk hack but can’t decide whether I want a sit and stand desk and maybe one countertop desk or your L shape design? How do you like the height as it should measure 33” from floor to top? Is it comfy for sitting long and is it too low for standing desk work?

Quick question .. for he Karlby Countertop it has 2 options for the 74" which one are you using? There's on for $189 and the other for $279 do you know the difference?

I am using the $189 one. its a little more than 2 feet deep. the $279 one is twice as deep (over 4 feet)
