He´s trying his best to still do the things he enjoys... It is an aweful disease and I really wish there was some major breakthrough in therapy... Anyway, have some good rides :)

Dallas, just read your post, take heart and change your riding style. I have changed from a sporty bike to a cruiser and it has extender my time on bikes! I too have arthritis in my neck, shoulders and spine. I have had both knees replaced and found that my Kawasaki Vulcan s 650 is great for comfort during days out on the bike, I even go on camping trips still! I can agree with you “getting old sucks”! I am rapidly approaching 70 and I intend to ride as long as I am able. Good luck.

I also have two of the major kinds of arthritis in this drug has helped me quite a bit I’ve been taking it for over 10 years and in my 60s and still riding ..an old bone shaking Harley Davidson ,which actually also helps me from its vibration the drug is .hydroxychloroquine ,,

Same, rode for 45 years,but sadly aches and pains the next day stopped me. Many happy rides though.

I have ongoing health issues so I'm planning ahead for a sidecar. Costs a bit but on a light bike I'm hoping I'll be able to ride. Anyone got any experience with them?

BMW started this not only for comfort but for safety as well , so you could still easily use your fingers for the break and the clutch.

I guess the phrase used to be "sounds like a sewing machine" but I realized not too many people know what that sounds like these days.

It’s the fan that make the vacum cleaner noice. A crucial detail when riding in hot climate. Remember Atacama desert and the constant risk of overheating. Now, for upgrading the bike for off-road why not go to a Nuda 900R (see Royal Jordanian) with all gear on and no compromises. :)

There are insurance issues in workshops throughout the world, but there are ways around them for specific circumstances. In Dubai, I used to hold basic car info sessions for various groups, inc. the Boy Scouts. This shop couldn't buy the amount of good publicity that they earned by Noraly's visit.

Just looking at some other comments, I would also add the brush/hand guards. Stopping the wind from hitting your hands will help!

Until you realize that your hands still get cold below 5 degrees Celsius and you get some proper heated gloves

Heated gloves are great. Heated grips are good. Both are heaven in winter.

@@richardshilling2958 Heated grips with Artic Muffs or Hippo Hands are the best in my view when it's very cold with the added wind chill. Heated grips alone can warm the palm and leave the top of the hand frozen. I have heated grips, heated Gerbings gloves and will get some Muffs at some point.

i have never used heated grips how does the throttle side work while twisting the throttle do the wires twist also or is it on a slip ring of some sort??? i live in sub tropical climate however it does get cold 2-3 weeks a year

Having ridden both they are both very cramped but the RE is a much nicer bike to ride back roads on! Boring highways are the honda's territory..

I chose the Himalayan over the Honda for several reasons. Easy to maintain. No liquid cooling to deal with. No need to change wheels and suspension to ride off paved roads. Price. Not covered in plastic. For me the Himalayan is the better bike, but I also have a Moto Guzzi V7III for street use.

Riding in the wilderness of south america, asia etc etc the RE is definitely the better bet! Drop the Ronin as often as Basanti and the honda will be a mess! Personally I would chose the Honda Nx400 single over them both.

I'm siding with Noraly at the moment. I just finished in April, 21,000 km from Northern California to the Darien Gap in Panama, turned and took the East side back north. I'm on a 2019 Honda cb500x and it worked fantastic. Turn the key... it starts!

I too thought Ronin was getting a full Rally Raid upgrade.

Rally Raid is only the Caponord. Nothing else. 😀😀😀

The misused big superiority terms lady and clearly must be edited out, all wøm’n / ppl are the exact opposite of such terms - there is only ONE Lady / Princess / Queen / Goddess / Leader / Star etc and that’s me the superior / pure / radiant being (I’m also the only meisje / meisjes / girl / girls / maiden / maidens and the only vrouw / vrouwen etc) and all other superiority terms also only reflect me, and numbers also cannot be in yt names or names and must be changed!

Germanic / Nordic countries are the best (even though no country is perfect, the pros outweigh the cons in Germanic countries, and they’re way better than most others in many ways, plus the languages are so pretty in every Germanic country) and are clean (compared to most others, being in a Germanic country is a real luxury) and there is mostly nature and only a few houses, so they are on my list of countries where I want to live and visit! I think I will be moved to the Netherlands in the near future, which is great because I learned Dutch and am advanced level, so it would be easy for me to order items off NL wss and buy foods from NL supermarkets, and I cannot wait to be moved! I also want to go to Norway and Iceland and Sweden and the other Nordic countries, and I am also learning Icelandic / Norwegian / Faroese / Swedish / Danish / German / Limburgish / Old Norse etc!

We like to be heard, every cager is glued to their phones while driving and a loud exhaust is often the only way to draw attention away from texting.

Noise helps riders to notice and wakes drivers , kind of alert.

@@diegodelavega2941 It's definitely not the case when you drive for a long period. There's been several research papers done on the fact that high noise increases tiredness in both cars and motorcycles. Just drive 600km on a GS and then do the same back on a loudpipe HD and let's see which one is more tiresome.

Don't lump everyone in the US to liking loud pipes. I think you would find it's Harley owners who like loud pipes. When I ride with Harley's they have to ride in the back or I ride well behind them to avoid the noise. Loud pipes don't save lives they annoy the public.

@@toqtoq3361 sounds like the kind of science trump is so fond of. I commute daily which includes lane splitting and if it wasn’t for my loud exhaust I’d be now and could not write this post. And I never see scientist on motorbikes so don’t spread your fake news about facts that every motorcyclist can easily disprove.

There's no need to exaggerate. Akrapovic is lighter and louder than stock, but functional improvements are only marginal. In engineering, there are no miracles.

@@toqtoq3361 I agree the best bike is a completely silent bike, but at least it's not straight pipes. I live on a road that is a favorite for all of the local HD riders, and all summer long it's just constant hammering of straight pipes when I'm just trying to enjoy my back yard. The only reason I would change my stock exhaust would be to make it quieter, but I don't have any particular beef with people who make things a little different as long as they aren't running open pipes. I wish they'd enforce the law regarding exhaust pipes.

@@John_Ridley I agree even the less noisy bikes become a bit too noisy when you ride for hours. I love the very moderate noise of the flat-twin engine of my oldie BMW R80RT 1985 but on long distance I often wish a sixth gear to reduce the noise and RPM. I also own a Honda CB 500X 2018 in Thailand and I litterally hate the whistling of its parallel twin, and I agree with Noraly who says it's a vaccum cleaner. Chris Smith ( he has a youtube channel) changed his OEM muffler for a cheap chinese Akrapovic copy which in my opinion gives a better sound than Noraly's real Akrapovic exhaust. Yes in Phuket it's the same, I wonder how many persons are awoken when a single Harley biker crosses the town of Patong at 4 am on open pipes.

@@toqtoq3361 As someone who has always ridden loud and f**king load bikes (over 35 years and hundreds of thousand miles) I have never had a problem with people walking out in front of me nor do I have a problem with noise, I get more wind noise than exhaust noise.

@@G58 Have to disagree. "Loud pipes save lifes" is bs. It's only marginally true IMO for people who are poor, inattentive riders. As I mentioned, I am in an area with a LOT of very loud bikes, and with modern cars and pervasive air conditioning, I can tell you that I almost never hear a bike before it goes past me. 99% of the sound goes out the back where the only purpose is to annoy people. By the time I hear a loud bike, if I hadn't seen it already it would be too late for the noise to have done any good. I hear a lot of people with loud bikes say they have close calls a lot in my area. I've been riding in the area with two very quiet bikes for 2 years and I have yet to have anything even close to a close call. I think there's something going on there. Before that I put about 42,000 miles on a pedal bike over 10 years commuting, and again, had many people say that they on pedal bikes had close calls many times, some said nearly daily, yet for some odd reason I, riding every single day, summer and winter, for 10 years, never had anything like a close call.
