Matt these build lapses are 👌. However, I’ve been following the channel for some time now and I’ve noticed that on every build you seem to swap out 90% of the stock components on the bikes you’re sent. Whilst I can understand you’re endorsed by a number of different amazing brands, I imagine there are a lot of people out that are in the market for a Marin want to see how these Marin bikes hold up to a good thrashing in stock form. I think your videos are absolutely class don’t get me wrong, but when you’re swapping out everything but the frame for super high end components, it no longer seems to like a true and fair test of the bikes Marin provide from factory. I saw your video a while back testing one of the budget hardtails and that was a top video. I reckon a series showing a month or two of you riding one of the budget Marins on bike parks, enduro stuff & maybe even race on (once we’re allowed :(( )would be great way of showing subscribers how capable these bikes are. Possibly something along the lines of “budget bike diary”. On the whole though, probably my favourite channel on RU-vid by far- keep up the good work 👍

You don’t bury survivors, hard tails are the best agreed, come down to Cornwall brother, ohlins all day, I’m a boxer but building a hard rail at the moment to shred in the woods with the boys, fingers crossed boy keep it up x

If everyone dies in the plane crash, there are no survivors. But you said "where do you bury the survivors." Also, if someone dies in a plane crash and there body is somehow recovered. You would probably take the body back to the family and it would be buried where ever the family chose. For the drivetrain you should put on the Sram Eagle AXS. Its a wireless drivetrain so you can do barspins without worrying about the wires up front tangling to much. For the fork, Marzocchi Bomber Z1 because they have the best value suspension.

We just installed Airliner made by Vittoria in a friend’s wheel. It took three of us to made those beads get in place. you could use rim tape as wide as the rim so it doesnt get detroyed on the installation and probably steel core tire levers are really really helpful

Hey Matt I just bought a Marin rock spring 1 and I love it I wanted the rock spring 2 but they were sold out, I’ve had this new bike for a month now and I’ve ridden it on some hard trails and it’s held up good. Love the backyard build trail videos keep up the good work

Riddle: you do not burry the survivors, but in this case there are no survivors. Forks: the Ohlins are great forks, so good choice. And for the drivetrain, I think you should consider shimano, probably xt or xtr, because from my experience shimano shifts very well under load and the chain retention is much better. Awesome video, waiting for the second part, keep it up Matt.

I feel the tire insert pain!!! I just did that on my brand new Trek Roscoe 8, used a metal tire spoon and not only pearced the sealing tape strip but also put a small hole in the alluiminum inner layer!... So also some swear words and a couple days later I was able to get a new seal strip and repair the wheel with small screw drivers, picks, a ball peen hammer and a little quick steel putty for insurance... that finally worked! Although I used the Tannus Armor inserts. Looked easier to install than the Crush Core your using. You should give those a try sometime to compair.

Matt I think you should try running Magura MT7 Pros for brakes (they have an orange one) SRAM AXS wireless for the drivetrain or try XTR maybe try Rockshox Zeb or the new Fox 38s for the forks use the orange top cap from the trail bike. Cheers mate, excited for the full build

The best upgrade on my hardtail was installing the PNW Coast dropper. It is the ONLY dropper with 40mm of air suspension. It saved my lower back.

I've personally got a san quentin (This exact spec!) and its amazing! I have replaced the brake levers and seat and its amazing, recently upgraded to an enduro bike so Im not sure how long I am going to ride the san quentin for but there are plans to turn it into a freeride/slopeduro bike!
